Duke is doing better every day under his families loving care. His next surgery is scheduled for September 3rd. Thanks to your donations we will be able to commit $500 toward his surgery. Our friends at FoHCAS will be able to help with $300. That is still short of our goal, however. Duke and his family would appreciate any additional help. They have been hit with double surgeries in a short amount of time and were able to cover the first one. They just need to get him through this second one. Thank you for your support.

Louie is continuing to recover after life saving surgery. He had a really close call. His family is so grateful for your support. They are still in need of assistance and if you are able to give a little bit, please call in your donations to: Apollo Beach Animal Hospital at 813-645-9567.

Here is an update from Louie's Mom:
"Updates on Louie:
Every day he is getting better and I see he is improving in different situations like now he is completely got back to normal eating and his behavior and energy level. His p*e situation is improving, he can hold it longer etc, however still need a longer time to p*e. I talked to the Dr. office and we decided to hold off with the blood work maybe no need at all - since his behavior and energy level etc back to normal and the only thing is still in process is a p*e situation, sounds like he needs more time recovering ❤️‍🩹

We are going back to the office on 08/20 to remove stitches."

In the meantime, Louie's brother Sharky is patiently waiting for Louie's full recovery so they can play together again.

Princess's Mom reached out to us because she believed that Princess had scratched or injured her eye. We urged her to get it seen immediately and said that we would pay for the exam and whatever else we could.

Princess was seen at Urgent Vet where she had the eye examined and was sent home with medication so hopefully she is on the mend.

We are struggling. We hate to say No because so many pets are in need. We are committing all that we can to the pets that have surgeries and procedures scheduled, but we are so far below where we need to be.

Please help us help the pets in our community.

We were recently contacted by Tiana's Mom for help with surgery on her eye. Tiana is a sweet little 10 yr old pug (Her 11th birthday is in just a few days!) and has been with her family for her whole life.

When the family moved from Puerto Rico a few years ago, Tiana of course moved with them, but the move seemed to exacerbate Tiana's allergies. She makes regular visits to the vet to try to keep them under control and keep Tiana as comfortable as possible.

As you can see from Tiana's pictures, Tiana has an issue with her eye. She is mostly blind, but her eye itches and Tiana will scratch it and it sometimes bleeds. It needs to be removed.

Because Tiana is in Pasco county and our funding is so low, we really can't contribute anything to help Tiana, but you can. We hope our followers will call in donations to help Tiana and her family cover this expense. We have included the estimate for surgery along with pictures of sweet Tiana.

Donations can be called in to Trinity Oaks Pet Wellness Center at 727-375-2882. Her surgery is scheduled for September 5th. Please help if you can.

Thank you.

Here is what we know about Kali:
She loves fluffy grass.
She loves the sun and to sit outside with Mom.
Fall is the favorite season for her and Mom because: sweaters!!!
And Kali is in desperate need of some dental work. One tooth is infected and has caused an abscess.
Mom took Kali to Harmony and they recommended that she contact us for help with the cost of surgery.
Kali is 15 years old and has been with her Mom since she was a pup. They have had a great life together and Mom sent us some great pictures. She said she has 100's more because Kali is her baby and they love their life together.
Kali will probably need to get her remaining teeth removed during surgery and we would like to help them with this bill. We have included the estimate from Harmony as well as some fantastic pictures of Kali with her Mom.
Please donate if you can.

While we were trying to help Louie the other day, his vet office asked if they could refer another patient to us that needed help. Of course we said yes.

Duke's Mom reached out to us about her sweet 8 yr old dog. Duke needs bilateral TPLO surgery. Mom could afford surgery for one leg which she had done yesterday. Duke should have the other leg done in about 4 weeks and we want to try to raise the money for her to have it done.

Mom has taken great care of Duke. He is neutered and up to date on his shots and she is taking great care of him as he heals from his first surgery, but she just needs some help to get him in the best shape possible.

We are providing the estimate for surgery on one leg. We hope to raise this amount.

Please help us, help Duke!

Louie is doing much better today and his best friend Sharky is so glad to hear that because he misses him! We are still short on donations, so please if you can spare a little bit to help with his surgery and hospitalization it would be appreciated. You can call your donation in directly to Apollo Beach Animal Hospital at 813-645-9567. Thank you so much to everyone that has already donated. Update 08/3/24: We want to thank everyone that donated to Louie's care. He is not out of the woods yet and will be hospitalized over the weekend. Unfortunately, at noon the vets phones switched over to an answering service, so no donations can be made to the hospital again until Monday morning. He still needs them though!!! Please keep Louie and his family in your thoughts as he recovers and please consider a donation to his care on Monday.

Update: Louie is at Apollo Beach Animal Hospital. If you can help, please call in your donation at 813-645-9567. They are very busy, so please be patient and they said if you need to leave a message they will call you back.

Louie had to have his surgery last night to save his life, and is doing well this morning.

This is Louie. He is a 4 yrs old and has a life threatening condition. Louie was taken to the vet because he has not been able to relieve himself. It was found that Louie has a stone blocking his urethra. He has been hospitalized and will likely need surgery.

His family can not afford it. Mom filled out our application but wanted to explain in greater detail why they were asking for help.

She explained the hardships the family has endured over the last few years with job losses and medical expenses. They are working again now but have not yet been able to recuperate all that was lost and they are struggling to make ends meet. She applied for Care Credit and was denied. They have an 8 year old child.

They love Louie and are desperate to save him. We spoke to the vet this evening and she stated that the dog is healthy otherwise, but this condition is dire and Louie and his family need help. She estimated a cost of $3000.

Chloe's Promises has committed to $1000 and will do more if we can. We have reached out to our friends at Friends of HCAS Inc. and will reach out to other organizations if need be. We will probably ask you to call in a donation to the vet if you can.

We will check on Louie in the morning and try to get more information then. For tonight, please keep him and his family in your prayers. Thank you.

A little while back, we made a post about Alice. Her Dad was disabled and Alice had a tumor that needed to be removed. He asked for our help. We made that post and Golden Ears contacted us and said that they wanted to pay for her procedure.

Last week, we made a post because we had run out of food for our community outreach families. Almost immediately, Paw Print Hearts reached out to us and offered their help. Community Pet Project also provided us food. Whenever we ask for donations for a medical case, Friends of HCAS Inc. lets us know that they have our back. Animalluvr's Dream Rescue has been a friend to our mission and so many others.

I know I don't have the right words to express our level of gratitude. The suffering and neglect and cruelty and desperation that we see in animal welfare is almost crippling at times. Each of these organizations have their own battles, their own cases, their own heartbreaks. But, greater than that, they have their love of community and its voiceless population.

Amidst their own struggles, they have all reached out to help where there was a need. They are friends and heroes to our community. We can't thank them or you all enough for your support. If you haven't already, please get to know these organizations. Please like and share their pages and support their cause if you are able.

We are all part of the same community. We all want to help the pets of our community and it is such a beautiful thing when we can all work together to accomplish that goal.

Thank you all so very much.

THIS IS WHY WE NEED YOU !!!!

Navi was set to be owner surrendered to PRC as the owner could not afford needed medical. The owner reached out to us for Assistance, this is WHY we need your support!!!

Not only were we able to help the owner KEEP Navi but we were also able to help Navi feel a heck of alot better!!!

Thanks to surgery it was found that Navi did not only have a clogged salivary gland, which required a specialty surgeon, but had a BULLET that was moving around trying to force it's way out. This tragedy most likely played a major role as to why Navi is also deaf amongst other issues

Needless to say Navi is on the mend!!! Your donations make it possible for us to help these owners and keep dogs OUT of the shelter.

Please continue to support our Mission !!!

Hello Everyone this is Ann and Karen!!!!

We are still here helping the Community retain their Pets!!! Like most out there we too are STRUGGLING. Right now we are sitting with 2 bags of dog FOOD to provide to the Community. We pride ourselves with being CONSISTENT during these hard times, we've had to come out of pocket for multiple surgeries, food and supplies these past 2 months. We do not want to turn people away but we are getting close to doing so.

We are asking for HELP with dog food, crates, treats, preventatives as well as monetary to offset our credit card for numerous vet bills.

Anything helps so please consider HELPING us maintain

We were recently contacted about Sammy. This little guy had developed what looked to be an infection on his nose which seemed to be spreading.

Sammy was seen by Harmony Vet Care and the diagnosis was dermatitis due to a mosquito hypersensitivity. Sammy was treated and will need a follow up in a few weeks, along with vaccinations.

We are at the point where we just won't be able to help many more pets. We provide food to multiple families, we have a big surgery coming up next week that we have committed to, and the requests for help just keep coming.

These are hard times for almost everyone, so we do appreciate those that help our cause. It is so hard to say No when an animal needs help, when families are desperate, when shelters are overflowing and rescues are full. We are grateful for your support.

We want you to meet Gotti. Gotti is an 11 year old cocker spaniel that has been with his Mom since he was a puppy. Mom contacted us because Gotti began walking in circles and then refused to walk at all. She noted that he had several growths on his body, with one being on his foot that was concerning, as well as an issue with an a**l gland. Because of financial issues, she had fallen behind on Gotti’s vet care.

We had Mom take him to the nearest available vet to take care of his immediate issues and then an appointment was made with Harmony for follow up and additional treatment. Between the two visits, Gotti was treated for an ear infection, had his a**l glands expressed and was brought up to date on vaccines. But, Gotti needs additional care.

The growth on Gotti’s foot is very concerning. It needs to be removed. We received an estimate to have it removed, but we just can’t approve it at this time without help. We have committed to other families and we just do not have the funds for another huge bill like this.

Please help us, help Gotti.

05/17/2024

Recently we were contacted by the shelter when Navi's Mom brought her in to surrender. She had just adopted Navi in December and had fell promptly in love. She didn't want to surrender Navi, she loves her, but she felt that it was the right thing to do for Navi.

Navi has a clogged salivary gland. As explained to us, it will fill and then rupture and leak for several days. This cycle is repeated about every two weeks. Mom had taken her to her vet and was told that surgery would be required. She couldn't afford the surgery. She had already spent quite a bit of money on vet visits and preventative care to try to keep Navi comfortable while she worked on finding help, but the cost of surgery was too much. Her vet recommended her to Harmony which is very low cost, but even their estimate was too much for Mom to take on at that time.

With a heavy heart, she took her to the shelter. They contacted us. We have agreed to help Navi and have already paid the deposit for the bloodwork and surgery. Unfortunately, because the surgeon that works on salivary glands is booked up until the end of June, Navi will have to wait a little longer for the procedure.

Mom is just grateful that she is scheduled to have it done and we are all hopeful that Navi will have a complete recovery and will not have to deal with the pain of this condition for much longer.

We are working with multiple families right now and our funds are dangerously low. If you can help us continue to help families like Navi's keep the dogs that they love in their homes, we would be so grateful for your support.

*** Adopted on 5-19-24 in a mega adopti9on event

Hazel is adorable! She needs a home. If you can help her please email [email protected] and [email protected]

Hazel came in with her friend who was already adopted A2349477. They were surrendered without reason by their owner. Dogs were both friendly at intake.
Hazel is listed as a 7 year old mix and everyone loves her!!! She is HW positive but her treatment is covered! She is healthy and looking for a home.

Hazel was easy to leash and went potty as soon as she got outside of her kennel. She walked nicely to the play yard and after sniffing for a few minutes, initated play with me by picking up a toy and running around and then coming over to me. She entertained herself by squeaking the toys and running around with them then plopping down in the shade to chew on them a bit. She also ran around a bit throwing the squeaky toys in the air. She also enjoyed running after the tennis ball. She showed interest in the dogs in the other play yards by looking at them but did not bark or react otherwise. She was interested in the misting fan, rolling on her back and letting it spray on her belly. She was easy to return to her kennel.
Comment
09-APR-24 - Interact - Hazel has a meet and greet with 3 female citizens. When staff approached her kennel she was on the inside laying on the bed. When staff got to the door and called her over to them she came right up to the door. She was easy to leash in the kennel and walked well to the yard. In the yard she sniffed around and went potty. Then she came over to the citizens and solicited attention from them. She grabbed a toy that was in the yard and began to play with it. She did allow the citizens to take the toy and throw it for her. After a little bit she laid down and chewed on the toy. She walked well back to her kennel and was no issues to unleash. BP
Comment
05-APR-24 - Interact - 04/05/24 Per volunteer: Hazel was eager and easy to leash. She walked with a pull, ignoring all dogs along the way to the yard. She explored the yard. She engaged me by shaking a big fluffy toy at me. I chased after her. We went to the garden where she spent time exploring and came when called. Again, back in the yard she wanted to engage me by pushing up against me with the big toys. She ate treats and allowed petting. She was easy to return to her kennel. Interact - Hazel was brough out of her kennel for full examination by DVM. Dog was very prosocial and maintained loose body language throughout interaction. Dog was allowed to run around treatment area with dropped leash, did zoomies (frenetic random activity periods), and engaged with DVM and technician. Hazel tolerated restraint and venipuncture (blood draw) well. Hazel enjoyed some treats and took them gently. JAS 01-FEB-24 - Behavior - 02/01/24 15:35 JS was able to leash Hazel in the kennel without any issues and took her for a walk. She did pull on the leash but was not reactive to the other dogs in the kennel. JS was able to handle and pet Hazel without any issues. no issues returning.

We wanted to give an update on Alice and Cole. Alice and Cole both had tumors removed recently at Harmony Vet Care.

Cole had a tumor on his a**s that was causing him pain when he tried to defecate. His tumor was removed last week and he is currently recovering. We got the good news that his biopsy came back and his tumor was benign. Except for his suture removal next week, Cole needs no further treatment. Yay!

Alice had a tumor removed on her elbow. Because of the location of the tumor, Harmony let us know that they would not be able to get good margins and would basically just be doing a debulking. Alice has had her drain removed and should be getting her stitches out tomorrow.

Unfortunately, Alice's biopsy results were not good. Alice has a grade 2 soft tissue sarcoma. Harmony recommended that she follow up with an oncologist for further treatment or consider amputation. We have spoken with her family about this and have let them know that we will respect whatever decision they make and will help in any way that we can. In the meantime, Alice is healing from the surgery and living for the day as dogs will do.

We appreciate your support and donations. These families have thanked us profusely for helping their pets, but it is ultimately you who have helped them. So, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping the families and their pets in our community.

For the month of May we are donating 10% of all proceeds to Chloe's Promises . This amazing organization helps families with funds for emergency vet care for their furry best friends. Vet care can be expensive and people are falling on hard times. During these times they don't need to lose a part of their family that they love. If you don't want to buy treats, please considering donating directly to them. Djshomemadedogtreats.com

6-10-24 Lewis is back from foster and ready to find a home!! She is healed up and gained weight.

Foster Note: Lowis is a gentle sweet pup. For being so young, she is extremely well-behaved and very calm. She does play with toys occasionally, but mostly just loves to cuddle and have belly rubs. She is completely housebroken, so far has not barked at all, and can be left alone in the house without getting into things. She is good in the car and tolerates baths well. She walks very well on a leash, but when she sees a dog she does cry and pull. She sleeps all night in her big dog bed in our bedroom. She is a very fast learner, knowing “sit” and “Paw”. She does follow us around the house, always needing us to be in her sight, but is otherwise happy to snooze on the couch. Lowis is such a great balance of puppy and calm, is very low maintenance, and is just a joy to have in our home. She has been a good girl in shelter playgroups too.

5-20-24 In medical foster

A2376564

Lowis is a sweet girl who loves attention and belly rubs. She is a 1 year old pitty who is in need of a foster, rescue or adopter.

Lowis is 1 year old, intact female, 39lbs, & is gentle dainty selective in playgroup. She came in as a stray and from her appearance she was not getting the care she needs or deserves. She arrived underweight but even with additional feedings she has not been able to gain weight. Lowis is a very sweet girl who is easy to walk and is very well mannered. Lowis is a wonderful dog but cannot be spayed until she gains some weight. She is struggling here, and we would love for her to find a home to help her gain weight so she can have surgery and be ready to find her forever family. If you can help her, please let us know.

Per Notes

15-APR-24 - Note - 04/15/24 14:42 Dog was extremely sweet at intake. She was so excited to see poeple and was wagging her tail the entire time. She was rolling aorund for belly rubs as well! She knows how to sit and shake on command. - JP

29-APR-24 - Interact - 04/27/24 16:13 Per Volunteer: Lowis was very easy to leash and walked without pulling or reactivity to other dogs to the play yard. She was immediately soliciting for lots of pets and climbed into my lap. We went to the garden where she stayed close by at first, but then did a little independent exploring. She maintained a relaxed and very calm demeanor throughout the visit. She took a couple treats. For the most part, Lowis just wanted to be petted throughout our time out today. She was very easy to return.

If you can help Lowis Email the shelter, she is in kennel A13.

" I am disabled due to stroke and have very limited income. My dog is my beloved companion and she needs help that I am unable to afford. Please help us."

These are the words that Alice's Dad put on his application for assistance. This is the reason we started Chloe's Promises. When life hits hard, often it is our pets that get us through those hard times. They keep us going. They give us comfort and unconditional love. They don't care how rich or poor we are, how well or sick. They only know that they love us and want to be with us always.

At 11 yrs old, Alice has been her Dad's faithful friend through good times and bad. Now she needs help. Alice has a tumor on her elbow. We had her evaluated at Harmony Vet Care and have approved the estimate for tumor removal. Her surgery is scheduled for the 26th of April.

Our mission is to keep pets happy and healthy in the homes that love them. Please help us to continue to help pets whose families are struggling financially.

Cole is seven years old and the light of his Mom's life. Cole has a tumor above his a**s which is making defecation painful. Mom took him to her vet for an exam and an estimate for surgery to remove the tumor. Unfortunately, the cost is a little more than she can handle at this time. She reached out to us for help.

We had Cole examined by Harmony Vet on Monday and have agreed to pay for his surgery. He will be getting the tumor removed soon and will get neutered during the process! In the meantime, Mom has switched him to wet food to help him until he is tumor free.

Please help us continue to help families that love their pets and want to keep them safe and healthy but may be struggling financially.

04/15/2024

We have been working with Drax's family for the last several weeks. It has been a rollercoaster. Drax is a two year old Golden Doodle that up until a few weeks ago, was the picture of youth and vitality.

Mom contacted us when Drax started limping and became lethargic. This was on a weekend, so we had Mom take him to Urgent Vet. They examined Drax and thought that he had hurt himself and possibly had a sprain. They gave him medication and asked Mom to follow up with her vet.

As Mom waited for the appointment, Drax became worse. He became even more lethargic, had trouble walking, his stool was soft and Mom noticed blood in it. Mom called the vet and they advised her to stop the medication and feed him only chicken and rice until his appointment.

When Drax visited his regular vet, he was severely dehydrated. They kept him for the day for observation. He was given fluids and blood tests and they could not find a definitive diagnosis. We spoke with the vet and she suspected a neurological issue, specifically SRMA (steroid resistant meningitis-arteritis). She suggested that an appointment be made with a veterinary neurologist.

Drax saw the Neurologist this morning. They do not think that he has SRMA, but the only way to determine that for sure is through expensive testing. They recommended another follow up with the vet and to have his labs redone. The good news is that Drax does seem to be feeling better. His stools are now solid and his appetite is coming back and Mom was so happy to hear his bark this morning! She said she will never complain about his bark again. Unfortunately, his mobility is not where it needs to be yet.

Mom is anxious to have her baby back to his normal playful self and we want that too. We are hoping that he continues to improve. Mom is paying what she can and we are doing our best to help. We have posted the bills that we covered.

Your donations are greatly appreciated. Our funds are very limited and we are helping multiple families. Thank you.
