Adult Hemiphyllodactylus typus with a quite large Turkestan roach( Blatta lateralis)
Microgeckos are great additions for any vivariums. There are a few genuses that are small enough to keep peacefully with dartfrogs. Best known is the Lepidodactylus lugubris, which is also a nocturnal, parthenogenic species like H. typus. Both have brownish, dull color, most significant difference is their size and shape. You can also keep dwarfgeckos that have flashy patterns and colors. Diurnal species from Lygodactylus, Phelsuma, Gonatodes and Sphaerodactylus families are great examples to that.
I believe mixed diet is important for all species. That’s why I give pinhead crickets to all of my frogs next to fruitflies. The small geckos will eat the crickets that hide and grow bigger in the enclosure, so there will be no problem from big crickets stressing the frogs. Also, I sometimes give baby roaches for the geckos. Once in a while few survives, but even when they are that big the geckos hunt them down.
Yes I checked her, yes she swallowed it. Also, I don’t recommend directly feeding this sized prey to them.
