Long day at work/school before coming home to settle in buns for 17 degree weather. Thank goodness we stock up on supplies when we can. We have a few chewers who needed a cup replaced.

Redacted's house got put on hold due to the rain...now it won't be finished until after the snow/ice storm predicted.

Tiger and Rowena - Red NZ kits born today

Rowna had 9 kits, showed no aggressive behavior and allowed me to add extra fur from another doe to keep the kits warmer with the big temperature dips at night in North AL. She immediately worked the extra fur and day into her nestbox.

Needless to say, I am excited to see them grow and see if Rowena stays this way since it's her 1st litter.

So far this morning, Six Feather Farm's Sonny and Hinton's Starry had 3 NZ kits (1 black and 2 REWs). As both first timers, I didn't expect anything, especially when I didn't see a falloff.

Thank goodness I prepared for the possibility of kits!

Wren had 5 kits while I was at work. I'm excited to see what Wren and Mayonnaise's kits look like as they grow! 3 are White and two are Blue.

Sometimes, we find something unique in the rabbitry. Opal and her siblings caught my eye when they were kits. At 5 months old, this NZ doe is 8 # 9 oz. She's sweet. Opal is not able to be shown, but we decided she is a keeper!

Finally home from convention! Zaxby's for supper is great after a long day of travel.

While checking out this morning, I found these ribbons for Mayo and Chippy.

I didn't get a picture of Chippy posed at convention because of how chaotic things were, but I did catch a pic of him napping when I came in to clean the coops in the morning.

Heading home with new buns in tow. Can't wait to see how they grow! They are not all mine.

Today, Mayonnaise placed 2nd out of 14 American White Senior Bucks. This was another surprise.

Overall, the convention has been a great experience so far. It is over Wednesday. I plan to do things differently if I get to go next year. I met a lot breeders, got to help with the show by running rabbits to/from the table, and learned a lot. It's also been a chance to have great discussions with others as well.

Today, New Zealands were judged at the ARBA Convention. I helped run so many rabbits I lost count. The most unexpected thing happened: Chippy, my red NZ intermediate buck, placed 2nd out of 11. I had not planned to carry him since he was so light when he was last judged. His molt seems to have darkened his coat a bit. So, my big baby did well.
