SWOLLEN SHEATH IN WINTER?!?

This is one of the most asked questions/concerns all winter..Does my horses sheath look swollen???

A gelding experiencing swelling in the winter, particularly around the sheath area, is a common occurrence often caused by reduced movement due to colder weather, leading to poorer circulation and fluid buildup in the area; this is usually not a cause for major concern, but monitoring the swelling
and ensuring proper hygiene is important. Swelling should improve, if not resolve, with exercise/increased movement.
With bad weather we tend to bring our horses in more and feed more which both can cause some swelling in the sheath area, Usually a few minutes on a lungeline for a few days the swelling will come right down!

Pretty sure Leroy waa more than happy to get his sheath cleaned! 🤣

A newly acquired gelding of a client was showing severe discomfort while trying to urinate so they had me out to clean him. This poor guy was packed so full of smegma in his entire sheath cavity on top of having numerous beans! Needless to say he's feeling like a brand new man after my visit today!

Got to see one of the very first horses I cleaned when I first started my business yesterday .. Always look forward to seeing Chance and pretty sure its mutual as I now can clean him with no halter on even! He sure is a character 😁😁

This big guy was hilarious!. He would lift his leg up and stretch it way out to the side and he'd smack his lips the whole time..he definitely let me know I was doing a great job!
