Under a recent article post, Nicole Lynn Hall shares: "I was an assistant/receptionist for 3 years. As much as I loved my job, my mental health just couldn't take it anymore due to rude clients and toxic work environments. I can handle unruly animals, but I was not prepared for how nasty people can be. I can't even begin to imagine the mental toll it takes on our veterinarians. They truly are heroes.".

Thank you, Nicole, for spreading awareness of how important mental health is especially in an industry with such a high suicidal rate. Studies have highlighted that veterinarians face a significantly higher risk of experiencing mental health issues compared to the general population. This is attributed to the unique stressors of the profession, including high workloads, emotional strain from caring for sick and dying animals, financial pressures, and sometimes a lack of support.

Together let's delve into some important statistics that highlight the need for mental health awareness among veterinarians. 🩺💚

Remember to ask for help when lifting a large dog.

Remember that everyone’s definition of heavy is different. Respect that.

Remember that it’s okay to ask for sedation when a large dog is fighting.

Remember that you don’t have to “see it through” when a large dog is struggling.

Remember to use gurney’s for large dogs when needed.

Remember to use lift tables for large dogs when needed.

Remember it’s okay to say “no” when a doctor wants a large dog on a table.

Remember it’s okay to have the pet come back after giving sedatives to try the visit again.

Remember you’re human, not a superhero.

The reason I’m here today is because I have cervical spinal stenosis and herniated disc. This causes chronic back pain. The treatment is nerve injections every 6-12 months (or ablation but lovely Tricare refuses to cover that). All of this is because I didn’t listen to my body. I either thought I was “able to do it myself” or not thinking at all.

I spent a good portion of my career putting others before myself. Look where that landed me…in a surgery gown about to get sedation for a back nerve injection. You’re only given one life and one body to live it in. Be sure you’re living it safely.

It’s okay to speak up if you’re uncomfortable.

5 school presentations done this week, and on time for our flight to DC! 🔊🔊🔊We have been invited to be Speaker Mike Johnson’s guests of honor at the the State of the Union tomorrow evening! I may have to get a little rowdy so watch for us on tv. We come with a fire in our spirit and America needs to do better and we are gonna remind them of that, in honor of all of our angels that have been stolen from us! 🇺🇸💕

Despite the resistance. It’s been a crazy start to 2024 for TXAF and The Tucker Project. Eduction is one of the 5 pillars TXAF is built on. And it’s a pretty dang strong pillar and growing bigger by the day, literally!

✅ Georgia - implementing The Tucker Project currently through the Department of Education
✅Alabama - Fentanyl Education Law filed and will be heard in 2 weeks
✅Oklahoma - Fentanyl Education Law passed the house yesterday with a vote of 86-0. Next up the senate
✅ Louisiana - meeting with the Governor soon
✅ Ohio - waiting on our time to meet with Governor
✅ Texas - 🦗🦗🦗😡 but not giving up!💪🏼

Everyday we keep fighting to get education to our schools and communities because it’s the only way to prevent others from this poison...and if you don’t know what Xylazine is, just be warned it’s in everything too, and narcan doesn’t work on that.

WE ARE A GENERATION THAT WILL NEVER COME BACK.
A generation that walked to school and then walked back.
A generation that did their homework alone to get out ASAP to play in the street.
A generation that spent all their free time in the streets with their Friends.
A generation that played hide and seek when dark.
A generation that made mud cakes.
A generation that collected sports cards.
A generation that found, collected, washed & returned empty Coke bottles to the local grocery store for 5 cents each, then bought a Mountain Dew and candy bar with the money.
A generation that made paper toys with their bare hands.
A generation who bought vinyl albums to play on record players.
A generation that collected photos and albums of clippings of their life experiences as a Kid.
A generation that played board games and cards on rainy days.
A generation whose TV went off at midnight after playing the National Anthem.
A generation that had parents who were there.
A generation that laughed under the covers in bed so parents didn't know we were still awake.
A generation that is passing and unfortunately it will never return no matter how hard we try.

"For sixteen years, her husband beat her.
But on this night, Tina Turner washed the blood from her face, wrapped a cape around her bloodied clothes, covered her eyes with a pair of sunglasses, and placed a wrap on her head, because the swelling was so bad, she couldn’t wear her wig.
She ran out of the hotel, hid among the trash cans, and then ran to the Ramada Inn, where she begged for a room.
All she had was thirty-six cents and a Mobil credit card.
But after sixteen years of cruelty, she finally walked out on Ike Turner.
To be clear, it wasn’t easy. She was so worried about her safety, she stayed with friends, paying her way by keeping house. It got so bad that Tina Turner—the Tina Turner—had to use food stamps.
And yes, it’s incredible that Tina Turner built her career back from nothing.
But what’s even more incredible is the battle cry she repeated inside her head—the battle cry that gave her strength: “I will die before I go back.”
Never forget it: No matter how deep the hole is, you can always find a way out.
In their divorce, Tina Turner gave Ike nearly everything. All their money. And the publishing royalties for her compositions. “You take everything I’ve made in the last sixteen years,” she said. “I’ll take my future.”

I'm not crying....I am not a good liar.

Our 14-year-old dog Abbey died last month. The day after she passed away my 4-year-old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so, and she dictated these words:

Dear God,
"Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.
I hope you will play with her. She likes to swim and play with balls. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her you will know that she is my dog. I really miss her."
Love, Meredith

We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the mailbox at the post office. A few days later, she asked me if I thought God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.

Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, 'To Meredith' in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies.' Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page were the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this

note:
Dear Meredith,
Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help and I recognized her right away.
Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.

Thank you for the beautiful letter. 🙏🏻❤️

Better pictures to come later. Getting Asuyeda's Holter done for all of her health testing so that we know she is healthy to breed and won't pass any detrimental health issues on to her litter. There are several different things breeders test for as recommended by AKC and American Boxer Club. Reputable breeders put a lot of time and money into insuring that the puppies we produce are sound.

Not sure how I missed posting this here. BO had the time of his life "chasing the bunny" and got his BCAT at the end of a very positive weekend in Glenrose. Between what he learned, how he behaved (only solidifying what I know about his steady and even temperment) and the AMAZING time he had both on and off the show site, I couldn't be more proud of him!

No love for Bo over the last couple of days in the conformation ring. But we are doing better as a team and he is learning what is expected of him.
As he has matured, his Euro ancestors have shown themselves in him.
There is still quite of bit of frowning on the natural ears in the ring even though the breed standard allows it. I know this, but it is about time the judges see it more and get used to it. I am here to help. 😉

“All year, my grandmother would wait for the summer day when Chick-fil-A would bring back their peach milkshake. It was the closest thing she had found to her sister Merle’s homemade peach ice cream, and even the worst days were better with that milkshake in hand. Last year on her birthday in late July, she let us all eat her cake as she drank her peach milkshake instead. I’m so thankful that I was thinking clearly enough to snap a picture of her enjoying that treat, one of her last.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago… the Chick-fil-A page made their announcement: peach milkshakes had a return date. I responded and told them how much my grandmother loved them, how after her death this past March, I would drink as many as I could this summer in her honor. I shared with them the picture from her last birthday. Chick-fil-A told me to send them a private message and asked for my email and address and told me to expect a surprise.

Within a day or so, I had 2 free peach milkshakes added to my Chick-fil-A account and thought, oh how very sweet of them. With Isaac so sick, it was a happy spot in my day. But imagine my surprise when a few days later, a box from Chick-fil-A arrived at my house. Inside, there was a sweet handwritten card along with an ice cream cone keychain, 4 cards for more free peach milkshakes, and a Chick-fil-A mug. Those were all things that I know they had available to share with people, but I was appreciative.

But at the bottom of the box, wrapped in bubble wrap, was a peach colored picture frame with the picture of Granga I had shared with them. Someone was thoughtful enough to go the extra mile and have the picture printed and framed for me, and I laughed through tears at the absolutely precious gift. A stranger cared enough to do this for me, and it was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture.

Man, I miss her so much. But, boy, am I appreciative of the way she is living on and how much sweeter every sip of peach milkshake is this year.” ❤️
