So EXCITING NEWS! Ryder was adopted yesterday at the Training Challenge and today his adopter, Erika, picked him up. Congratulations to Ryder for finding an amazing forever home and Thank You to Erika for choosing Ryder to be your new trail horse! I am so excited for both of you and looking forward to seeing you on the trails in the future!

Ryder did really well yesterday! Even though we didn't place, I am very proud of him and how far he has come in the time that he was with me.

I can't believe it is almost the Training Challenge! Tomorrow we head to the expo center to check in!Jodi Brassard came by yesterday to do some body work on some of my other horses, and while she was there I went ahead and had her do one more session on Ryder. Ryder was feeling a little stiff to the right when I was working him the last couple days, and after seeing all his releases I think he is 100% ready to go now to the training challenge!

This morning we spent a bunch of time working on our freestyle πŸ˜ƒ The last week of the challenge is always bittersweet, I'm excited to show off everything I have taught my horse at the challenge, but at the same time and I know I will be saying goodbye when he finds an amazing adopter. He is such a fun horse and I am glad he was assigned to me so I could be his partner in this step of his journey.

We went on another little field trip today we went to the Scissortail Hill Equestrian Horse Show. We competed in the novice division of the trail class and placed 2nd!! Super proud of Ryder!!

We also rode around the grounds by all the things going on and in the covered arena. He was a good boy, well behaved and hung out at the trailer when I showed my other horse in the jumpers... it was HOT day πŸ”₯ at the show.

We took a little field trip today over to Tammy's place to practice on her obstacle course. We got to meet Tammy and Ned Nickerson. Tammy has really done a great job with Ned and he is such a cute guy!!

Mary and Juel also traveled with us to Tammy's place and they worked on the obstacles in hand.

Ryder did great, it was a great experience for him to get to practice on obstacles very similia to what we are going to see at the challenge! Also is was fun to meet up with other trainers and their challenge horses!

I believe Juel doesnt have any potential adopters yet, so if you are looking for a super cute Arabian that is very well behaved please check her out!! She is not under saddle, but is a super sweet and willing horse.

Ryder and I worked on our freestyle this morning. He did great and we worked with an umbrella, tarp and flag. Today was our first day working through what we are going to do and riding to the music. Not a bad first session, my other horses that live in the pasture with the arena were also running around like wackos and snorting and bucking and acting like they have never seen a tarp, flag or umbrella before πŸ™„πŸ™„ Ryder was well behaved through as we worked through everything. He is not a big fan of cantering, he prefers trotting and walking.

So I recently reached out to the adoption team and I was so surprised to hear that Ryder does not have any potential adopters yet. He is a cool horse with so much potential to do so many things. I think he would do well at ranch horse shows, competitive obstacles, Texas trail challenges, competitive trail, weekend relaxing trail riding, western dressage, and many other things. He has a great personality, very much a love bug, he is the first to greet you in the pasture and he is a fun horse to ride under saddle. He is also a middle-bottom of the herd guy and gets along well with other horses. While I don't think he would be good for a child, he can be pushy on the ground and needs a leader, he has been excellent under saddle and doesn't do anything silly, and I think for an adult novice he would be awesome! He also is very well behaved for the farrier, stands for bathing and for the most part is a pretty good guy. For those of you looking to adopt, please consider this guy, for anyone following that knows anyone that is looking to adopt, please share info about Ryder with them. I would love to see him in a forever home with a riding partner. I am happy to answer any questions about him as well :-)

Ryder and I rode in the Jarrell Homecoming parade tonight! He did great, he got pretty nervous with the flag at the beginning just a lot of things going on with the marching band, sirens, lots of balloons blowing in the wind on floats, he was a little overwhelmed , so we passed the flag off, but I am super proud of him because although he was nervous he kept his cool and we walked the whole parade. Lots of kids and people on the sidelines yelling, waving balloons, pom poms and noise makers, it was definitely some serious desensitizing. We also had a police car behind us who kept setting his siren off. He did great though, and nobody died lol.. he looked to me a lot for encouragement, but overall it was a great 1st parade experience for him!!

We rode with Mary Rangel and her horse, Amigo, and she ponied her challenge horse, Juel. We were also joined by Carley who rode her challenge horse Scully.

We went to the Dripping Springs Ranch Park Ranch Horse Show today! Ryder did amazing for his first show! There were 7 other people in our division, and I am proud of how solid he was. We placed 3rd in the Stock Horse Pleasure Class, 5th in the Ranch Riding Pattern class, 6th in the Ranch Horse Trail, and 8th in the Ranch Rail Class. We had some bobbles, such as we struggled with the sidepass in the trail class, and he broke down to the walk in front of the judge when we were supposed to be trotting in the rail class. Overall though, I am super proud of Ryder. He kept his cool and tried super hard for me. He seemed to really enjoy being a show pony today and I could easily see him doing some western dressage or ranch shows in the future. He did great in the Ranch show for his very first show. Ryder will be available for adoption at the Rescue Horse Training Challenge Oct 7th! Here is a little video I put together of today's show:
