This is a clear reminder that freedom is never free. For every life saved there are so many working hard in the back ground. Spending money they don’t have and hours there never seem to be enough of. 23 dogs were saved from the California City based rescue Pawfect Companions in deplorable condition. 17 remain while the authorities work on the legal aspects of removing them. The 23 saved have Saving Gizmos Friends to thank. They started their rescue journey and have spent thousands beginning medical care for each and every one of them. It’s been a whirlwind of activity this last week with transports to big rescue saves but what keeps us going are the rescue relationships along the way. If we don’t have each other we have nothing and ultimately lives will be lost. We work so much better when that work is done together. Rescue partnerships absolutely save more lives!!!! Our transport this weekend was to an amazing rescue in Utah Parowen Animal Assistance League (P**L). Even with the significant distance they wanted to help California Dogs to make room for shelter dogs affected by the fires. They saw our plea, reached out and have taken 7 of our dogs into their rescue giving us room to help Los Angeles County Dogs. Such a gift they have given not only our dogs but the LA dogs we will now be able to save because we have room. Each of our pups have settled into their new foster homes and one (Lillian) was immediately adopted with a 2nd adoption likely happening this weekend. To say we are thankful is an understatement. We are filled with more gratitude than words will ever convey. P**L we thank you for helping us celebrate life ❤️

A reminder for all of us! Especially for those us that see the worst of the worst every day!

Tomorrow we are picking up dogs from a severe neglect and hoarding case! Wednesday we get to provide SNIP services for people who otherwise wouldn’t have access to them. Thursday we are transporting dogs from the LA fires to Redwood City. All because we love them even though we’ve never met them and want them to have a better life!

It takes a lot of “stuff” to run a rescue ranch and Kermit is here to remind you that you can help us get everything we need by donating items from our Amazon wishlist. It’s super easy just head to our website, click “how to help” and find the wishlist you’d like to donate from. Everything from cleaning supplies, to toys to food can be found and ordered from one spot. Your donation of supplies makes caring for every single dog in our rescue so much easier and they are thankful for each and every donation.

Have you ever had a preference for the type of people you hang out with? Brooke sure does, she loves the ladies! I mean you gentlemen are ok if there’s no other option but Brooke is all about the and bonds quickly to the women in her life. She loves them all! If you’re a woman she’s going to want to be your very best friend! I wonder if we can find sweet Brooke a lovely lady to call her own? She’s not a man hater by any means just has an obvious preference that we think we can accommodate.

Brooke was picked up as a stray by our county shelter. While small dogs aren’t in as much risk as the larger pups they can still be euthanized for space. Brooke’s darker coat meant she was less likely to stand out and more likely to be overlooked. This meant she was the perfect candidate for a rescue pull as we can give her the time she needs to get noticed. Brooke has headed into foster care and has quickly settled in.

Initially a bit shy Brooke’s real personality comes out once she’s comfortable. She’s sweet, affectionate and wants nothing more than to be with the people she loves. Young children make her nervous. Their loud active energy is a lot for her and we feel she’d do best in a home with older respectful children who know to give her some space. She tolerates other dogs but would love to have the humans to herself and she’s not a fan of kitty friends. Brooke is quickly picking up both house and crate training in her foster home and has already mastered the dog door. She’s got lots of “hops” for such a small dog so secure and tall fencing is a must. Brooke is ready to find her humans and she’s hoping that at least one of those humans is the lady friend she’s been wishing for. Let’s make it happen!

Scotch may be a shy girl but in true cattle dog fashion she wants to please. What she lacks in confidence she gives back with one of the sweetest demeanors we’ve had the pleasure of knowing. This unsure girl looks to her humans to give her the guidance she’s lacking and she trusts with her whole heart. Shes looking for that perfect adopter who’s willing to give their heart in return.

If you’re looking for the kind of dog who intertwines with your soul Scotch is ready to fill that void. She’d love a quiet and calm home willing to give her the time she needs to be comfortable. Canine buddies should be calm and respectful and she’d prefer older children who understand boundaries. This girl isn’t about the crazy energy of the youngsters and would be happiest with a mellow family. Can you give her a family to love? She has so much love to give ❤️

Hey could you stop scrolling for just a minute. Please read our post. It applies to us but also to every other nonprofit struggling to stay afloat over the last couple of years.

I know we keep saying it’s bad but I don’t think anyone realizes how very bad things are. We are drowning!!!! Not just with the massive influx of dogs coming through our shelters, rescues and landing on our streets. We are all struggling financially! We paint a pretty picture on our social media pages but the reality is we’re struggling to cover the medical costs for our dogs. This struggle is limiting what we can take medically because if we can’t get them the medical care they need we are doing them a disservice bringing them into the rescue.

The economy since Covid has changed drastically and not for the better. Everything is significantly more expensive and donations are a struggle to find. People are hurting financially which means nonprofits aren’t getting the funds they need to survive. If we’re struggling with our strong social media presence we can only imagine what the current climate is doing to the smaller rescues and nonprofits. In a time when so many have so little to give we hate to ask but we have no choice. With a pending surgery for one dog we are still $4,200 short of the $5,000-5,800 we need. I know we keep begging and pleading but we need your financial support to giving them their chance at a quality life. Without you they have nothing 💔

Shy dogs need the love and time a foster home can give. Dogs like sweet Jan (pictured) thrive when they enter foster care. Our Rescue Ranch is AMAZING but it will never be a substitute for a home environment. Dogs who linger at our ranch shut down and so afraid become completely different dogs when they go into a home. We want each of our dogs to have this opportunity but the only way they can is if good people like you open their hearts and homes.

Sweet, sweet Flower 🌸 Her legs are worn with calluses, likely from spending years confined to a small space with hard surfaces. Her teeth are ground down, a sign of desperation, perhaps from trying to escape the harsh conditions she endured. Her swollen belly and nipples speak to the toll of constant breeding, her body a silent testament to the many litters she’s brought into the world. Though we may never know the full extent of her past, the wear and tear on her body tells us she wasn’t shown the kindness she deserved. Yet, despite it all, Flower is pure love. She greets life with an open heart, always eager to show us her gratitude for being rescued. She plays, she hugs, she finds joy in every moment—because she knows that chapter is over. She’s free, and her new life with a forever family is just around the corner.With her gentle spirit and resilience, Flower has already caught the eye of our Miracle Mutts coordinator, who sees the potential for her to be a therapy dog. She has so much love to give and a heart full of positivity.
