As a young girl, I had a love of horses and the old west that turned out to be my lifestyle for the next 35 years. With the ups and downs of being “horse poor”, all too often my gifts to family members and friends would be my Homemade Fudge and Confections. The folks used to say it was “so good you could go into business” and that’s just what this old, busted up cowgirl did. I was head fudge maker for the largest hunting and fishing stores in the country but it was not long before I knew that giant corporations were not for me. So… several years and about a million pounds of fudge later, our Black Horse Fudge Co. was formed. We are an employee owned, Michigan based company offering you the creamiest fudge at the fairest price you’ll find. Many fudge makers work their fudge on a marble slab causing the fudge to seize and cool quickly. This is better for the fudge maker as it takes less time to produce but a detriment to the consistency of the fudge causing a sugary, grainy, course texture. At the Black Horse Fudge Company, we know when the time is right for optimal creaminess and let the fudge cool on its own so the texture is always the creamiest that you’ll find. Our fudge is made with the freshest ingredients including butter, cocoa, Madagascar vanilla and the most unbelievable homemade caramel you have ever tasted. Our fudge is a medium to soft texture and stays that way when wrapped in the food sheets that it is shipped in. Our main fudge making days are Mondays and Tuesdays and are shipped directly after hand cutting and wrapping on Wednesdays and Thursdays so you know that your fudge is fresh and will arrive in 3 – 5 business days. From Thanksgiving through Christmas, we make fudge and ship fudge daily. Be sure to get your holiday gift orders in early so you can be sure that fudge arrives on time. Farther away folks can order fudge by the “bucket” to be microwaved for your special function. Add your own nuts, fruit or anything you prefer. Serve your hot fudge with pretzels or any other kind of “edible” spoon. Keep hot in a crock pot until gone. Fudge will remain hot and soft at 145° - 160°. *Nut Allergies – Because we cannot guarantee the companies that supply us with our ingredients operate with allergies in mind, we do state there may be traces of nuts in all of our flavors.
