Enrichment prep for Zep and my dogs! Today, I’m putting together some exciting activities to keep them engaged and satisfied. Since Zep has a chicken sensitivity, I’m using lamb and beef with sweet potato as his protein source. He specifically chose enrichment, so I’m prepping it to keep him happy and engaged. I’m using Toppls and a lick bowl to make snack time more interactive, then freezing them for an added challenge. Enrichment like this keeps their minds active and helps prevent boredom—happy dogs, happy life!

Today, I introduced my dogs to individual buttons that say their names followed by “wants a treat.” During our first session, I began by gently placing their paw on the button and immediately rewarding them with a treat. Marionberry and Coco Bear picked up on the concept quickly, while Carl will benefit from some one-on-one training to help him achieve his goals. As a positive reinforcement trainer, I enjoy finding fun and engaging ways to interact with my dogs, and this activity has been a great experience so far!

While out doing laundry, Jake the yellow lab decided it was time to get a little mouthy and jumpy. Instead of letting things escalate, we turned it into a quick and productive training session! I focused on reinforcing Jake’s “down” behavior using primary reinforcement (food) to encourage calm and positive responses.
