This guy came out during the day!! I love seeing it! Look how metallic his head looks when the light hits it. I know not everyone likes spiders but I just think they’re so dang cool!

Little dude is in DEEEEEEP blue!! Notice how his eyes are a blueish grey color and his body is incredibly faded. This is what happens when a snake starts going into shed! This is when you should double check humidities, maybe raise them a bit and make sure your enclosure is ready for your snake to have a shed.

(Note: the heat lamp he’s touching is not turned on. Don’t worry! Hahaha)

Two wonderful adoptions in one! Two animals brought to us who were once considered to be “aggressive” couldn’t have gotten a better home with someone so kind and patient. Already these babies are thriving and accepting handling very well! I couldn’t be happier to see these guys in their new home!

WARNING: SNAKE FEEDING
A perfect example of the affects of a neurological disorder common amongst the spider morph of ball pythons. This is a minor wobble where basically the snake has difficulty managing the direction and angle of its head. This little guys wobble is no where near as severe as some but you can see how this, in serious cases can cause bad issues for a snake, especially one being fed live food. Had this been a live rat and he missed it, the rat could have attacked in self defense and seriously injured him. Thankfully he has no issues with frozen thawed as you can see and this beautiful boy has never missed a meal. But this is why I do not support the breeding of the spider gene.

Love it when the creepy crawlers come out after dark! This guy has been dead set on staying in his burrow but I caught him venturing out last night. So fluffy!!!

Today is the day, the shed is finally coming off and those GORGEOUS colors are making their appearance. Of course this makes for a very grumpy and itchy dragon so after a light spray over her skin to loosen up and soothe her, I will be leaving her be to die what she does best. It’ll be a long day of rubbing and itching till it all comes off.

Side note: Never EVER pull shed off of your reptile. This can result in pulling scales off and ripping their skin. If you notice the shed is stuck for longer than 5 days, make a humid box for your reptile by getting towels, soaking them in hot water, put your reptile on top of the towels in a tub that you can close with a few air holes and let them soak in the humidity for 5-10 minutes. Then place them back into their enclosure and let them get the shed off themselves. Repeat as needed till the stuck shed comes off.

I pull this lady out today for some deep cleaning and a closer inspection and of course to handle her a bit to see how her temperament is coming along now that she’s settled in. Honestly, I believe she‘ll tame down to be a very sweet dragon. Today she barely puffed up when I picked her up to move her and then the second time I picked her up she didn’t even budge. Baby girl just needs a loving touch which she will be getting soon with her new forever home! Otherwise she is thick with the shed and probably very itchy, but shedding is a good sign so we love to see it!

Have you ever seen a spider molt? Well! Similar to how snakes shed their skin, so do spiders and many many other arachnids and bugs. This is an example of a pretty solid Tarantula Molt we found this morning from our Curly Hair baby. Important things to remember when your T. molts is 1 never ever touch your tarantula for at least 3 days after a molt. Their skin is insanely thin and fragile and 2 do not feed your T. for at least a week after a molt to give their body a chance to harden back up.

Fun fact: you can use molts to tell the gender of your T!

Little update on the sassy dragon. She was able to get chunks of stuck shed off yesterday, which is good. It means she’s getting good hydration levels now with the daily fresh foods. Now, you can probably see, she’s got different parts of her going into shed. So we will be monitoring those closely to ensure proper shedding again. Nothing worse than a sassy dragon with itchy shed. The sass multiplies haha but other than that she has mellowed out SO MUCH! Which is awesome and we are happy to announce that she has an adopted coming to adopt her after her quarantine period is over!

The process of building up trust is slow going. Hand feeding every day is helping as well as respecting her signals when she says she’s had enough. Thankfully she’s eating and pooping good, so nothing too serious wrong with her. Hopefully soon I can get her in a good soak and help her with the bits of stuck shed!

Day 3 and she’s CONSIDERING settling down. I still get a nice black beard any time I dare come near her, but in the last day or so I have noticed she’s stopped going after her decor, only some mild head bobbing and thankfully she eats like a little beast so that’s great. A couple more days to acclimate and we will be doing a good soak for some stuck shed. So far, so good!

I have never, in all my time working with dragons, seen a bearded dragon so upset with everything. When we started the day, she was furious with her reflection so I moved her into a tub instead of a tank to get rid of the reflection. Now she is attacking her hides. Has she ever experienced hides like this before?? Guess we gotta change the hides now too.

So thankful we managed to find a UVB for her. It’s messy looking and the cable management is not all that fancy but for now it will definitely work! She already chowed down on some greens which is a great sign!

This beautiful new baby joined us today and I can see there is work to be done. Sadly, she’s had no UVB for the last year and despite the previous owners attempts to care for her, her temperament proved to be a bit too much. She’s got some missing nails on the back leg and some skin issues on her back that almost blend in with her unique colorations. Hoping to get the supplies we need super soon because our stock on UVB, Heat Bulbs and Tanks is a little low at the moment. But we will do what ever we gotta do to get her what she needs!

We love fish too here at the rescue and these girls are a prime example as to why female betas make equally as amazing pets as males! Girl betas can be kept in groups called sororities so you can have these vibrant beautiful fish in a large variety of colors and tail types. When you find them in pet stores they are often pale with tiny fins because of the poor water quality, but once they’re in a perfectly cycled tank and kept healthy, they bloom into beautiful ladies!

Notice the odd angle of her spine and front legs and then the shaking in the back legs? These are side affects of MBD caused by lack of proper lighting and supplements. Please, do your own research by speaking to experienced keepers which can easily be accessed VIA Facebook groups specified for each exotic animal. Do not depend on Google, chain pet stores, or a single YouTube video and consider yourself prepared.

There is no such thing as a “beginner reptile”. They all have special needs and care requirements.

Today marks the official 1 month quarantine mark for this sweet little girl so you know what that means? Since she’s shown to be in good health, despite her disabilities, she is now going up for adoption. This baby is special needs. She has severe metabolic bone disease. What that means is she didn’t have proper supplements growing and so her bones are weak.

What does this mean for her future care? She will need an easily maneuverable enclosure, 20 gallon long minimum. She needs extra attention to her supplements and meal time. She cannot hunt on her own and will need to be tong fed. She will also need a low wattage UVB during the day time as well as a heat source so that she can keep her MBD from becoming any more serious. If you are interested in bringing this gorgeous baby into your home, shoot us a message and we will discuss it!

Hahaha! This is how Monday’s make all of us feel.

The mighty little huntress devouring her breakfast. Haha the little leo is putting on weight and becoming more noticeably active. You can even see where she’s getting to her water and her calcium powder which is such a good sign. So pleased with her progress! She should be ready for adoption very soon!

Oh my gosh this cracked me up!! That smile before she lunged haha

This lady has FINALLY been claimed and will soon be going to her forever home and we could not be more excited for it. She is going to be in the best place with an experienced Tokay keeper! We are so happy!
