1 year ago today Miss Birdie made her 1st appearance on the Senato Stray Savers Rescue page. Unfortunately she is looking for her forever home again. Birdie is a 1 year old Great Pyrenees / Aussie mix. She is a social butterfly with other pups and loves everyone (she is also cat friendly). Birdie would do best in an active home with another dog.

How has this handsome boy not found a home yet??

Rodeo is a Great Dane / Lab mix and is roughly 4 years old. Rodeo was found after being dumped in a rural area in Oklahoma. He enjoys long walks, playing with his plush toys, and rough housing with his foster sisters. Rodeo is well mannered and has shown to be kennel and house trained. This big boy would do well in a house or apartment. However, Rodeo will need an extra tall fence around his yard as he has shown to be an Olympic hurdler!
Rodeo is currently going through heart worm treatment but is still available for adoption.

Meet Birdie! This little lady is just over a year old and is a Great Pyrenees / Aussie mix (with a little bit of Parson Terrier). She is sweet as can be and loves everyone she meets: dogs, kids and cats. Birdie is a social butterfly who spends most of her days at doggy daycare or playing with her foster sisters. Birdie walks well on a leash, is kennel and house trained, and has completed a 2 week board and train. Birdie would do best in an active home with another dog!

🚨IMPORTANT NEWS🚨

Unfortunately I have made the decision to close the Senato Stray Savers Rescue. This was not an easy decision however anyone that has done rescue work knows it is mentally, emotionally, physically and FINANCIALLY draining. Which makes doing rescue for the long haul a very hard job. I want to thank everyone who has donated, fostered, and adopted over the last 4 years. I greatly appreciate y’all and could not have done it without y’all.

With that being said we have 3 dogs currently still available for adoption. You can find more info on each pup under their photo. Please share to help get these pups in forever homes as soon as possible!

RODEO UPDATE

We got Rodeos blood work back and thankfully his red blood cell count looks good white blood cell count good platelets kidney values are perfect so despite having that prostate infection and that UTI, his kidney look good. He did have tons and tons of bacteria in his urine but that is no surprise with the amount of blood he had in his urine. He will continue his antibiotics and have a recheck in 3 weeks. We did get a second confirmatory heartworm test which unfortunately was positive so we will begin treatment as soon as possible.

Rodeo took another trip to the vet today to discuss Heartworm treatment. Unfortunately while we were there they discovered several other health concerns including a dying tooth, blood in his urine and possible Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (or BPH). They took a urine sample, are running blood work and he is starting antibiotics. This handome boy can not catch a break!

Oreo is still in need of a foster or a forever home!

A little over two months ago Oreo was surrendered to us with very little information on her past , all we knew is that she was 11 years old and she’d only had one owner her whole life. When she first came to us, she was very shut down and anxious, she didn’t want to eat, be touched or really even looked at. Over the past couple of months, she has really come out of her shell- here is what we have learned about Little Miss Oreo. Oreo is your typical senior chihuahua, she is headstrong and sassy. She goes through life with her own set of rules. She loves people! She wants to be cuddled, held and be your shadow all the time. She loves to play fetch, but only the part where you throw the toy, she will never bring it back. Oreo is VERY food motivated, she’d do anything for a treat. Oree is kennel trained and walks well on a leash.

Before coming to us she had never been properly socialized with other animals and it shows. She has grown tolerant of the cats, but that has more to do with the fact that the house cats have kicked her butt a couple of times. When she meets new cats, she chases them and barks. With dogs she is very hit or miss, She does best with small - medium sized dogs but wants nothing to do with large dogs. Unfortunately, even though she plays well outside with the dogs, she has shown that she does resource guard against other dogs, this includes toys, bed space, people, etc.
All of this being said she would do best in a home where she is the only pet.

🚨HEARTWORM POSTIVE🚨

Meet Rodeo!
This handsome man was brought to us after he was dumped in a rural area. Rodeo is roughly 4-5 years old, and looks to be a Great Dane / Labrador mix, weighing in at 64 pounds (a healthy weight for his size is roughly 80 pounds). Rodeo is very mellow and loves people, he has shown to be crate trained and well mannered on a leash.

Unfortunately he has tested positive for heartworms and will have to undergo treatment. Which means this big boy will need a calm place to rest while he is being treated (can take 4 - 6 months to treat). If you would like to foster Rodeo apply today!

Senior Alert!!

Meet Oreo (AKA Oree), this little lady is 11 years old and looking for a quiet calm home to live out her senior years. Oree was surrendered after her owner had a family emergency causing her to leave the country. For the last 11 years Oreo has lived a very pampered life with just her owner, due to this Oree has very specific needs for her forever home.

She a little spicy with other animals as she has never been properly socialized, she has shown to be more tolerant towards other small / senior dogs as long as they are not overbearing and is fine with cats at a distance. Oree does not do well with fast sudden movements towards or around her so she has been deemed not kid friendly. She is kennel trained and walks well on a leash, she is not house broken but has been pad trained. Once she warms up to new people she is all about them - she will follow you everywhere. Even though she is a senior pup she still has plenty of energy, she loved to play fetch, tug, and go for walks.

Oree would do best in a home with a single owner with no other animals. She needs a lot of TLC to feel comfortable in a new home.

It looks like Dolly has become quite the pampered pup 🐶💚

“We sure love our sweet Dolly! She adores her big brother Brody even though he was not initially happy with her presence. Once he figured out that she was THE BEST zoomer to play with and walking buddy, they were like peas and carrots! Madame Dolly enjoys sunning in the yard, helping in the flower bed, trips to the dog park, and taking her meals on the patio. Last summer she even became a big sister to Daisy Mae, who definitely keeps her on her toes! She sure loves her family and deserves to be livin’ her best life!”

Cupid is a very simple and laid-back boy. He spends most of his days lounging around… A total couch potato. Cupid would do well in a calm home, where he can lay in bed and binge watch his favorite shows.

Cupid is kennel trained and house broken, he has shown to be cat and dog friendly but would be perfectly content being a single dog. He enjoys being the center of attention where he can get endless butt scratches and treats.

Meet Suede! This pretty girl was found as a stray and unfortunately was never reclaimed. Suede is an Australian Shepherd and is roughly 1 year old.

She has shown to be house trained, crate trained and she walks well on a leash. She has not been tested with dogs or cats yet.

Meet Birdie, she is an Anatolian Shepherd mix and is roughly 12 weeks old. This little fluff-ball is a total firecracker! Birdie is your typical happy puppy, she loves to play with other pups and is a little sassy. Birdie is quite vocal and when she doesn’t get her way she’ll tell you all about it. Birdie LOVES to be outside and would do best in a home with a large backyard.

Reba and her squeeky toys!

I don’t know how but Reba is still available for adoption. Reba is a chihuahua mix and roughly 3 years old, she came to us from west texas along with her pups. This sweet loving girl is the total package. Reba is house/kennel trained, knows her basic commands and is dog/cat friendly. She loves to go for walks and play with her puppy friends at the dog park. Reba do well being added to a pack or being a single dog, she does favor women more than men but loves everyone.
