Do you have a Reactive Dog? 🐾🐕
Being able to give them spaces to sniff and explore safely is usually a complicated task. Sniff spots, empty schools and other locations are good areas to have a positive experience while outside.
My dog Orion has high levels of anxiety and fear towards other dogs. I used to walk him every day, but after being chased by neighborhood dogs, and having several bad encounters because of loose dogs while being outside, it made the experience stressful not only for him, but for me.
Walks stopped, and our activities got limited to our own backyard. Enrichment got increased at home, and with the help of a veterinarian behaviorist we added medication that helped get the success we needed with training. I have slowly reintroduced the outdoors through training. Seeing my dog enjoy being in a new environment, happy and with no stress, brought tears of joy.
If you have a Reactive Dog, don't feel alone, reach out and let an Experienced Trainer give you a hand. Write me at [email protected] or call me at 832.277.7336

Can an old Dog Learn new Tricks?
Absolutely!!☺️
Age might be slowing your furry one physically, but that doesn't mean we cannot play and learn. In fact continuing training will help their mental stimulation to keep their brain working.
My little Tinker🐾 is about to be 14 years old. Last year we almost lost her to an infection that she developed after a dental procedure. Before the dental, she started to show some symptoms of possible Canine Cognitive Dysfunction too. We changed her diet, added supplements and also started playing nosework with her.
Her change has been incredible!!☺️ I have my little girl back and happy.
If you are interested in learning Nosework with your dog and would like to join our future classes, write me at [email protected] and will add you to the waiting list for our next class in July 🐾😊.

Too cold outside to walk with your Dog? 🥶
These are some Indoor Games for you to play with your dog:
1. Nosework Games! 🐾
Grab some treats and have your dog watch in a stay position as you place them around a room in your house. Give your dog the cue to “find the treats” and encourage your dog to pick them up, remembering to praise them every time they find one.
Now that your understands how to search for the delicious treats, have your dog stay in another room as you hide the treats. Let him have fun sniffing around to find his treats! ☺️
2. Teach your Dog some Fun Tricks!
From picking up toys, circling you or sitting pretty, there are a variety of Tricks you can teach your dog. Teaching Tricks increases their focus and confidence.
3. Enrichment Toys:
From Kongs to Food Puzzles, there are many choices for you to choose from.
Keep them busy and let your dog put on their thinking hat of how to get those delicious treats out of their Enrichment Toy.
Stay safe and warm with your Furry Ones 🐾☺️

The wind is a big variable in our searches. It can complicate a scent puzzle, and blow on to other objects or collect in other areas; but it can also help our dogs pick up the odor of the hide if we work with our dogs downwind.💨
This is a very good example of the wind helping Sailor pick up odor on the right bench in a Exterior Search this past weekend. Take a look at the orange flags showing the direction of the wind moving towards us. #noseworkdog #dogtraining #positivedogtraining #sniffing #scentwork
Sharing an Interior search from my first NW3 from last February. Take a look and see how Sailor works the chair hide from the corner in the room. There is some pooling odor that is collecting under that table.
Sourcing is a skill that we need to practice with different variations of setups and environments. Hide Placement matters in our training .

Container searches might look simple, but they are not as easy as they look. Our dogs are looking for target odor and discriminating from other novel odors and possible intentional distractions (food or toys), while also having the skills to differentiate possible pooling or blowing odor in other containers close to source.
This without taking in account that the other half of the nosework team, needs to know where they have been and cover their search area. This is Sailor in our last NW3 getting his Container Title. In these searches we never know how many hides are present (up to 3 possible hides) or if we have intentional distractions or not. #noseworkskills #noseworkdog #dogtraining #positivedogtraining
