Our sweet Goldie is headed in for surgery today. We learned her Cushing’s is caused by a tumor on her adrenal gland and the dogtors say it can be removed. She also has a large hernia with some of her organ tissue trapped inside, so that needs to be fixed. Goldie will have surgery at BluePearl Pet Hospital in Spring TX, so the specialist surgical team can take extra special care of her.

Please keep this dear girl in your thoughts and prayers for a good outcome. Her surgery and hospitalization will be expensive. If you would like to help with her bills, you can donate through this post or:

Russell here to say today is a good day to make sure you are ready for winter. It will be too cold for furry friends to be outside so please bring them in. Also protect your plants and pipes. Please check on your neighbors and help them if they cannot do everything themselves.

Does your New Year’s resolution include keeping you and your pets healthy? Don’t forget that includes regular heartworm prevention. Whether you give monthly preventatives or go to your vet for an annual preventative, please do not forget to protect your furry friends.

Bella’s previous owner did not follow through on that promise to her. This sassy girl is finishing up her heartworm treatment after testing positive. A few more weeks of staying calm and then we can move on to her other health concerns. Stay tuned to watch her progress!

As 2024 comes to an end, we would like to say thank you to all our supporters, donors, adopters, and volunteers who help make Wescue possible.

Kevin here is our final intake for the year and he reminds us how glad we are to be able to help pups like him. Kevin is super skinny and the noises outside scare him but at least he is inside, safe, where he will never again have to fend for himself.

This New Year’s Eve remember to keep all of your pets inside with their collar and tag securely on to keep them safe from the loud and scary noises.

Update: although he is safe now, Kevin is still suffering effects of his time on his own. Kevin is spending the weekend in the hospital receiving care to help his body recover from malnutrition and parasites. Please keep our sweet boy uplifted in your thoughts and prayers.🙏🏻

Dashing through the holidays and looking for someone to share time with in the new year? Avery may be your girl…

Avery is a young miniature poodle mix, somewhere between 1-2 years old. She found herself in a small shelter after being picked up stray. It seems she might not have had much human contact before that, because she is very timid and afraid of people until she gets to know you. When she gets to know and trust you, she will be your closest buddy.

Avery is looking for a quiet, all-adult home with someone who is patient and home a lot. She has received core vaccines and is scheduled to be spayed in mid-January.

Oh what a year it has been for our little Hadley!

You might remember when she came into wescue last fall with raw, bloody, and infected skin. With the help of our dogtors, Hadley’s foster mama worked hard to improve her skin and get her feeling better. Thanks to the help of a restricted diet, regular medicated baths, and oral medications, Hadley’s skin has improved and she is feeling a LOT better! Hadley has now been spayed and is ready to begin the search for her furever home! Is it with you?

Hadley is the definition of a sassy Scottie girl! At a year and a half, Hadley LOVES to play with toys and other dogs. She has no problem voicing her displeasure when she doesn’t want to do something and she has perfected her side-eye for when you ask anyway.

Hadley has spent the last year trying to get healthy so she will need to continue her strict diet and bath routine as she continues to improve.

Hadley is mostly house trained with a doggy door but still has an occasional accident when it’s pouring outside. She is crate trained and is learning to walk on leash.

They say dogs live in the moment and we sure hope that is true for little Callon. He is living in the sweet moments of this Christmas season, getting ready for his happily ever after.🎄❤️⭐️

This darling boy has faced a lot of sadness in his short life… he was found stray and taken to a shelter, where he was adopted. You might think that would be a happy ending but the new people decided they did not want him anymore after just a few weeks. Good Samaritans took him in and reached out to Wescue for help. The dogtors have checked out Callon and treated minor injuries, and now he is ready for his furever home. Is it with you?

Callon is about a year old and weighs under 15 lbs. He is crate trained and doing well on housetraining with a doggy door. He gets along with other pups and loves to be around people.

Levon here… you haven’t really heard about me because these nice people have been busy taking care of me. The dogtors thought there might be something very wrong with me because I did not feel good when I was wescued. But guess what! The good care these nice people gave me has made me better!

Levon was rescued from a local shelter in August, after his previous family surrendered him there. The poor guy was in pretty rough shape so we asked the dogtors to check him out thoroughly and were worried about some of the findings. Turns out, though, that most of the issues were due to inflammation in his body from his poor diet and lack of care. Now that he has had four months of good care, he feels and looks good and acts more puppyish than you might expect of a 9 year old. Here he is posing at The Woodlands Animal Cancer and Referral Center after visiting with Dr Sousa and being given the good news.

Although he came to our attention as a “terrier mix,” a good grooming revealed that Levon is a miniature schnauzer. He has a heart murmur and takes medicine for it, and he eats a low fat diet because he shows signs of previous chronic pancreatitis (he has not had any bouts since coming to Wescue). The next step for Levon is a dental cleaning in January, but he said he is ready for his furever home and can come back for that.

Is it still raining? Better stay inside! ❤️ Fritzi and Benji

Fritzi is estimated to be 2 years old and is getting used to life without her puppies. She’s learning to trust humans and is looking for a patient home that will give her time to adjust and observe before coming for pets. She loves to follow other dogs around to learn what’s safe so another dog in her furever home is a must!

Benji is now between 4-5 years old. He came to Wescue a while ago from a local shelter, has been treated for heartworms, and is still looking for his furever home. Benji is blind, likely something he was born with, so he needs a patient and calm home where he can hear and smell his way around. Benji LOVES lap time with his foster mom and will transfer that to his furever parent with patience, love, and treats.

Did somebuddy say PUPPIES??! We have puppies! Meet Emme and Hannah, 12 week old sisters looking for their own furever homes.

Hannah and Emme came to Wescue from their previous owner when they were deferred from being surrendered to a local shelter. These adorable little terrier-mix girls are expected to stay small even when they are fully grown. We have taken them to the dogtor, dewormed them, and started vaccines. Since they had no vetting prior to Wescue, they will need booster shots before they can go out in public or other shared areas. But that shouldn’t stop you from loving and spoiling them at home in the meantime.

The girls are looking for separate homes where they will be “foster to adopt,” with the adoptions becoming final after all vaccines and spays. If you would like to adopt one of these sweethearts, apply online: WSRH.com

Prince is prancing into this week with the hope of finding his furever home. Is it with you?

Prince came to Wescue from a local shelter. This sweet and bouncy guy has been to the dogtor for a check up and to have his teeth cleaned, and now he is ready for his furever home for the holidays!

Prince is estimate to be 4 years old and weighs about 8 lbs. He does well with the other dogs at his foster home and loves to go on walks. Expect a cuddlebug with Prince, who will likely insist on sleeping with you in the big bed.

Stewart hopes you got to get out and enjoy this beautiful day! He also hopes you remember to give heartworm prevention to your furry friends!

Stewart wasn’t lucky enough to have people who cared about him before he came to Wescue. He tested heartworm positive and was suffering from Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI), so his little body was unable to digest and absorb nutrients. We have been treating Stewart and now he is healthy enough to take the next step: he will have neuter surgery and a dental tomorrow then, after he heals, he will start heartworm treatment.

Stewart will soon be ready for a home of his own. Is it with you?

Stewart weighs around 10 lbs and is an adult, but his condition makes estimating his age very difficult. He is comfortable sleeping in a dog bed or any stuffed animal that seems comfy. He gets a long with other dogs but doesn’t need them in his forever home. Stewart will be happy to tell you when it’s meal time and his EPI is easily managed with enzymes mixed into his food which he happily eats (and asks for seconds).
