Rex did a little shopping this weekend. He had the best time picking out toys (bigger than him) for his foster home.
Rex is around 6 years old and is smaller than a lot of dog toys at about 10 lbs. He LOVES squeaky toys (if you couldn’t tell) and LOVES pets, cuddles and walks. Tiny Rex is ready to spend National Dog Day with you!

Thank you to everyone who came to meet us yesterday at Pet Supplies Plus - Harper’s Preserve, TX. It was great to see so many friends and we are excited for the pups who may have met furever families.
One question we were asked was why we rarely have any full westies posted for adoption. The answer is simple: we have a waiting list. When a Westie comes into our program, we review the waiting approved applications to see if there is a match before opening up for new applications.

Introducing Coco!
Wait! That’s not a Westie, Scottie, or Cairn! Coco may look like an Australian Cattle Dog (heeler), but to us she is an honorary terrier.
Coco came to Wescue with her 14 year old Cairn sister after their human died and they were left alone. We never leave buddies behind and, thankfully, a foster volunteered to take this sweet girl.
Coco is 8 years old and weighs around 40 lbs. She is house trained and and enjoys walks, playing in the yard, and going for car rides. And she loves being petted.

This happy little guy wiggled his way into wescue not that long ago. Charley has seen the dogtor and is ready for his furever home! Is it with you?
Charley LOVES to play! He loves to play with his furry siblings at his foster home and loves squeaky toys. Charley is a happy happy boy! He has springs for feet and will be jumping for joy when you enter the room. Expect cuddles, lots of kisses, and lots of laughs with his wiggly little bottom.

Betty Bear heard you were looking for a furry friend… lucky for you, she’s looking for a furever family!
Betty Bear was adopted from Wescue when she was a wee pup. She recently came back due to changes in her family, and is once again looking for a family. This time…a furever family!
Betty Bear is a sweet girl who loves lots of pets and wants to follow you everywhere around the house. The recent changes have her a bit nervous so she is looking for a patient family that is home often. She is crate trained and will crate herself when she is overwhelmed at her foster home.
Betty wants to please and will look for directions in her furever home. She would thrive in doggy school to fine tune her behaviors. She is very athletic and would also thrive with agility training or outdoor adventures!
Betty Bear is 2-1/2 years old, currently weighs about 24 lbs, and HAS energy. She would love a furry playmate but is not a necessity with lots of love and attention.

What’s Rudy so excited about?
It’s Meet and Greet Week!
Rudy is the last one from his litter and ready for an adventure of his own with his own furever family! Rudy is 8 months old now and weighs right around 24 lbs. He is a snuggle bug on the couch and enjoys lots of pets. He also LOVES toys so expect lots of squeaks and smiles for years to come!
Rudy has graduated from puppy school and loves to show off his sit and walk commands. He can be a bit nervous at first but quickly overcomes it with praise and good treats. He is crate trained and his belly band is always dry.

Chelsea is all checked in at the dogtor’s office and ready for the next step in getting ready for her furever home… heartworm treatment. After raising her babies, 8 weeks of quiet rest might sound like a vacation but it’s not. It’s a sometimes painful process to remove the heartworms before she can look for her furever home.
Please keep Chelsea (and Kiera) in your thoughts today and please remember to keep your furry friends on regular preventative. Heartworms are preventable!

This happy, active pup appears to be a cairn/schnauzer mix. She is about 2-1/2 years old and weighs around 24 lbs. Betty has lots of energy and loves to play. Why is Kiera so happy? She knows today is the 1st and that she and all her Wescue friends will get a special treat. Today is the day they get their heartworm prevention.
Kiera is heartworm positive but gets a monthly preventative to keep the infection from spreading as she prepares for treatment. Soon she will get the injections to kill the adult heartworms in her system. Kiera is around 3 years old and very healthy, so we expect she will do very well with treatment.

August is getting his teeth cleaned today and preparing his personal ad in hopes of meeting his ideal pawrent. He is a 6 year old Westie-poodle mix who would be happiest with a SHF (single hooman female), as he is somewhat fearful of men.
Augie does well with other small dogs, but does not like big dogs. He is ok with older kids but little ones make him nervous.

Kate is 12 years old but you wouldn’t know it by looking at her (or from her dogtor’s report!) She is playful and active and has been well cared for, but her mama died and now she needs a new home of her own.
While she gets along with other dogs, she can live with or without them. What Kate really wants is a person or people she can be with all the time. It won’t matter if you are retired, work from home, or can take her to work with you - she wants to be with you.

Finn is an 8 year old Westie who is looking for his furever home. Is it with you? He has impeccable house manners, loves walks, playing with toys, and sleeping in his cave (shhhh… he likes it so we won’t tell him it’s a crate). Finn can be a sly shark when it comes to taking toys or beds from his housemates, so it is something to watch, but he doesn’t fight with them and generally gets along with everyone.

Congratulations Rudy!
This was a busy week for our little Rudy, one of Sadie’s boys. After graduating puppy school, he watched his brother Marshall find his furever home. Now Rudy is sad and a little confused as to why he is the only one of his pack without a furever family. Is it with you?
Rudy is almost 8 months old. He is mastering sit and slowly making improvements with his leash walking. He LOVES to run and play and would enjoy a home with kids or another dog to play with him.
Rudy weighs around 24 pounds and is just about fully grown, so we don’t expect he will get much bigger. He is fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and ready for his next adventure.
