Kicking off the new Rotary year today! The gavel was passed on to Sean Kelley today. We also welcomed a new member, Deanna Moultry, Area Manager with Georgia Power. Welcome Deanna! Also, special thanks and congratulations to Bennett Dudley on a successful Rotary year and a job well done! Bennett was thanked with a very special plant today for his leadership this year!

Robotic Rotary day!! We had several members of the robotics team, THS Robodogs, on hand today to show off their robot under the leadership of Mr. and Mrs. Burnside. Way to go team!

What an amazing day we had at Rotary today! The winners of the Laws of Life contest gave their presentations today. Great job students and congratulations! Winners include: Ciara Waller, grade winner; Nicolous Bailey, grade winner; Traciona Tate-Jones, grade and school winner; Jemimah Damni, grade winner.

Today we had the pleasure of hearing Elijah Brown, Thomson High School senior and Boys and Girls Club member! He gave his speech and talked about those that have been influential in his life. We also welcomed Sargent Nelson as a new member today! Great job Elijah and welcome Sargent Nelson!

We had a great presentation at Rotary this week! We heard a great update from Donnie Smith, General Manager at Belle Meade Country Club! We are so appreciative to BMCC for hosting us each week!

Rotary meets Robot Henry!! Khrista Henry’s 12 member FIRST LEGO League team from Norris Elementary presented today. They presented on their robot and how they built it. This team won their completion against the CSRA schools and advanced to super regionals in Atlanta! Way to go Mrs. Henry and students!!

We got a two for one today!! Excellent program presented today by Special Agent Patrick Morgan from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Sara Lue Special Agent in Charge of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Georgia Crime Center. We also had fabulous treat from Thomson High School Bulldog Players as they prepare for their upcoming musical Violet! Thanks to all!!

We had a wonderful treat today listening to GSRP student Clare Jensen from Denmark! She gave us updates on her experiences so far in the U.S.! Football games, scuba diving and meeting other GSRP students were some highlights! We are looking forward to seeing what Clare does next in her journey!

Rotary announced the STAR Teacher and STAR Student awards today! Antonio AJ Grant is the STAR student. He chose Mr Albert Gunby as his STAR teacher. Congratulations!!

What a unique program we had today! Donna Faulkner Barron is the oldest daughter of Roy Faulkner, Chief Carver of the Confederate Memorial Carving at Stone Mountain Park. She spoke about her father and shared about the book she co-wrote with her dad and Kay Jones, “The man who carved Stone Mountain.”
Happy Thanksgiving to all, no meeting next week.

The Rotary Club hopped on the Bulldog Expeess today! Dr. Lynn Cato, Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Thomson High School presented on the ways the bus is used to assist with learning and how students can engage in STEM activities. Ms. Anita Cummings also assisted with the presentation and activities.

Thomson Police Department’s Assistant Chief Robert Brown was our speaker today. He recently coordinated a county wide first responders’ active shooting training. Thank you for your service!

We have so much fun at Rotary! Today was jam packed! GRSP student Clara Jenson was our speaker today. She shared about her home country of Denmark, her family and why she applied to be a GRSP student. Great job Clara!
We also welcomed Carrie Edwards as a new Rotarian today! Welcome Carrie!
Ron Tolen District Asst. Governor came to the club to present past President Mark Swann with the Bronze Membership Award.

Our program today was from our own LTG (ret) Dewayne Patrick who shared with us his personal views and vast knowledge about North Korea, and of the recent events taking place there. Gen. Patrick was the Commanding General of the Combined United States and South Korean Forces during his enviable Army career. He also was the Commanding General of the 101st Airborne Division, the "Screaming Eagles" and Fort Campbell, KY. The General successfully jumped from a flying airplane 986 times in his career. After his official Army career, the General served in our local government where he installed numerous important improvements and innovations to our county's great benefit. via ripl.com
