π¬ Leave It β Phase 3: Real-World Reliability with Lilo
Now that Lilo understands the concept of βLeave It,β weβre taking it into the real world β where it actually matters. πͺπΆ
Right now Iβm practicing Leave It with food because itβs the easiest, clearest resource to control in this phase.
Food is predictable, high-value, and lets me adjust difficulty with precision β which helps Lilo understand the rules without getting overwhelmed. πβ‘οΈπ«
In this stage, Iβm teaching her that Leave It means the exact same thing every single time, no matter where we are or what the temptation is:
π Food on the ground
π Food on my leg
ETC
Same cue. Same expectation. Same follow-through.
The more variations we practice, the more her brain learns:
⨠Oh⦠this cue applies everywhere, not just in that one training spot.
Different surfaces, angles, and body positions all help Lilo generalize the skill β which is the key to real-world reliability.
Once this phase is solid, we level up to π
β¨ Placing food inside containers and asking her to move past them while maintaining composure and choosing disengagement.
So proud of this girl and how fast sheβs progressing! ππΎπ
