Clover and her daughter buttercup went off to their new home today with a loving family. It is bittersweet to see this shy pair with so much potential go but I know they will get so much individual attention at their new home. I can’t wait to hear how they settle in.
Also Fresno came home yesterday and is causing some drama with his high pitched love declarations. He was sad to say bye to his girlfriends at Hotmess Homestead and will have many progeny come spring.

Crow City Roller Derby teammates came over to smash some pumpkins for the goats! They usually love the seeds the best but they went to town on the freshly carved one I brought down after 🤷🏽‍♀️🐐🎃 They also loved when and hand fed them treats and seeds.

The goats and I have been WORKING on this backyard blackberry project! I love the stages from making initial paths through the thicket to drying and chomping the leaves to cutting up the stems into stacks. We are now at the FINAL stage of burning the dried stems with the homeowners 🌿🍂🍁🔥
I can’t wait for the crisp after photos. The homeowners have been super flexible with spread out visits between trips, which means we get to keep attacking the new growth and should have a lasting solution! I love working my way through this big project tackling focused stages and areas but seeing real progress in the big picture. Snowball grew out a beard through the process. 🐐🐐😍💚 Halfway photos shown at the end.

I made a special trip to pick up Fresno today and take him to his new ladies!! He already has a new love ❤️
I can’t thank enough for keeping my boy safe and sound this past year and I can’t wait to see all the new varieties of babies from Hot Mess Homestead 😍🐐🐐🐐

2 cougar sightings caught on door cameras within 3 minutes of my house north and west (marked as stars) ⭐️
Good things goats have rectangular eyes and can see almost 360 degrees and run fast!! Stop at this photo if you don’t want to see what happened when a German Shepard and blue hound with collars chased us home from the green space yesterday and bit Lucy’s ear.
I couldn’t figure out where the dogs came from or why her head was wet til I saw them swim across the creek.
City life is feeling a bit wild this week and we will be staying IN 🏠🚪🐐

Happy 2nd birthday Merlin!! I love you ❤️ 🧙‍♂️ May the greenest of branches always be within your reach.
This boy gave me one of the biggest scares of my life 2 weeks ago with Urinary calculi (kidney stones for goats). I got complacent and fed my girls extra alfalfa. After pain meds and ammonium chloride he got through it. He’s back on a balanced diet and doing just fine. Special thanks to for seeing us on such short notice.

It was such a delight to have friends visit the goat farm and learn all about these funny little creatures. They claim they will adopt 4 wethers within 5 years. My money is on goats within 6 months mathing up to 20 head by year 5! Place your bets now 🐐☘️🌱🐐🐐!!
