What is the UAB’S Veteran Companion Program?

Our Veteran Companion program helps place UAB Alapahas with veterans suffering from PTSD as a gratitude for their service to our great country. The Alapaha is donated to them without any costs besides for shipping, as a companion with full registration in their name.

Symptoms of PTSD is severe anxiety of surroundings, mistrust, emotional detachment, and Hypertension. We have keyed on specific genetic temperamental traits in our breeding program that we found can benefit many veterans suffering from PTSD. We have specifically bred our Alapahas to be highly Alert of potential threats of their property easing anxiety of surroundings. We have bred our Alapahas to manifest a strong and undeniable bond with their owners to give Veterans with PTSD an emotional attachment of support by giving them a “war companion”. We bred our Alapahas to be courageous and smart to perform under highly stressful situations or environments which can ease the psychological stress veteran may have know they have a “war companion” by their side.

We have also came to realize by our past Alapahas donated to veterans that our country’s veterans usually make some of the best owners for this particular breed by having disciplined habits that they install into their Alapaha companions that is very essential for this breed. They usually also have a strong work ethic, and with the Alapaha being a working breed, can lead to an outstanding relationship with their dog by doing extracurricular activities.

Please feel free to refer us to one of your dog loving veterans suffering from PTSD for this opportunity that UAB offers. We are unsure of other breeders that do this or what their qualifications are, our qualifications will be messaged with the veteran privately after receiving the application of ownership.
