BASIC DOG TRAINING CLASS STARTS SOON!

Garwood-area friends, I have two spots left in my Basic Training Class This is a very indepth 6-week class for dogs that haven't been to school yet or need a refresher on manners and obedience.

Starts June 17 @ 6pm and meets weekly for a total of 6 classes.

No new title today (he needs one leg for his Master but almost never jumps in that div), but he had two respectable jumps in Senior at 17+. Not bad for having been out of the game for over a year! 🥰

We went, we showed, we had fun. It was a chilly day but we got to see friends and some beautiful dogs so it's a win in my book. Thanks Sean Nowicki for this pic, it made my day!!!

"Genome sequencing indicates that dog is not a direct descendant of the extant (living) grey wolf but these are sister taxa which share a common ancestor from a ghost population of wolves that went extinct at the end of the Late Pleistocene..."

Too many people still repeat the phrase "Dogs are domesticated wolves." Dogs are not wolves. They have evolved in a very specialized niche for tens of thousands of years. They are a species that has lived side by side as partners with humans for a long time. When they behave in ways us humans find objectionable, they aren't trying to "dominate" or "take over". They are desperately trying to communicate with you every single day what their needs are, but we sadly don't always hear them and resort to physical punishment to teach them to be "good" and stop "disobeying".

The onus is on us as the humans to learn about this species that we call our best friends, partners, family members; to learn their language, and provided structure and instruction to help them live happier, more fulfilled, and integrated lives with us.
