A must watch! Just another reason why we love Foxy and the Hounds!

Hugo is now 3 months old and has tripled in weight since they rescued him from the streets of Tijuana. He has come so far and has such a will to live. Hugo was the closest to death of any pup we have ever rescued. They are hoping for continued improvement and we are very optimistic. Hugo is something special and touches the hearts of everyone he meets. He is happy, kind, affectionate, loves belly rubs, and is just a ball of love. Terri says she is honored to have rescued this sweet baby boy and ask that you keep Hugo in your thoughts and prayers! They will continue to keep everyone updated and are hoping Hugo will be available for adoption next month!

IT’S TIME TO GET COWBOY ADOPTED! Please share this Foxy and the Hounds post in hopes of finding him the very best forever home! Cowboy is a ridiculously adorable 6 year old Staffordshire Terrier mix and weighs about 50 lbs. He has been with us way too long because his fosters have had a hard time wanting to let Cowboy go. But, now it’s time for his happily ever after! He is pure love, very sensitive, mellow, loving, relaxed, easy going and loyal. He is the sweetest boy ever with a smile that lights up a room!

Cowboy is a homebody and a big couch potato. He gets along great with other dogs that are mellow like him, but does not do well with hyper dogs. Cowboy is such a good boy, loves to cuddle and belly rubs are his absolute favorite. He is truly the best and easiest dog ever and whoever adopts him is going to be so lucky! He is definitely a rescue and fan favorite and is long overdue for the perfect forever home. Let’s find Sandy the perfect forever home! From Foxy and the Hounds: Guess who’s back? Ugh! This is a post I never wanted to write, but yep... Sandy was returned to us! This stunning 6 month old Bull Terrier mix puppy was born in the shelter and we rescued Mama Annie and her puppies just hours after they were born. I ended up having to bottle feed the puppies at 2 weeks old and I loved this litter with my whole heart and they were all adopted a couple months later. Mama went to Laura Rice of Pet Peeves Training, LLC to learn boundries and limitations and now Annie is absolute perfection.

We sent Sandy to Laura just 4 days ago and literally in the first 24 hours, Laura sent video of Sandy doing focus work, was already waiting for permission at crate door and sliding door, and she knows all her basic commands. She said Sandy was probably bored and stressed and just needed direction. And, this is what an awesome trainer and person Laura is... she sent me this text today: Terri, this dog is normal. She doesn’t need to be here with me. She needs owners who understand what it means to give a dog boundaries.

So, now it’s time for Sandy’s happily ever after, but it must be the right home as we will not fail Sandy again. This is not an easy breed, but Bull Terriers are amazing, smart, loving and fun. They need a mix of 1) lots of help learning how to handle stress and 2) mental energy drained through training and activities requiring self control. If you don’t know what appropriate corrections would be, then you are not the right home for Sandy. She will thrive in a home with someone that is comfortable giving boundaries. Also, a home with at least one other dog (male) is preferred. Sandy weighs just 40 lbs now, but will likely grow to be about 60 lbs full grown. If you are ready and willing for the challenges that come with such a spirited dog, then you will be blessed with one of the smartest, happiest, and most loyal best friends ever. MEET CHAI, COFFEE, LATTE & VIENNA! Seriously., this is how today’s rescue happened... Sarah Sutton of Last Bad Day rescue who I fostered for 3 years before becoming Foxy and the Hounds tagged me in a post. Now let me tell you, Sarah probably tags me only once every few months. So, I said sure Sarah if you go get them from the Bakersfield Shelter today, I will take them. Totally not expecting this response, she called and said, I’m on my way to get them and will see you in 4 hours. And that my friends is how rescue works... if you talk the talk, you better be able to walk the walk.

These 4 munchkins are completely emaciated, have Giardia and the little runt Latte is the only one that is a bit worrisome. If we end up in Emergency tonight, don’t be surprised... we do what we gotta do!

These pups are just 6 weeks old and have obviously had a horrid life prior to now. We will do everything and anything to make sure they thrive and have the best life ever. We will be taking them to our Vet first thing in the morning and if little Latte needs more vet care, we will make sure he gets it.

SOS!!! Foxy and the Hounds needs help now! They just need one vial of Newcastle vaccine to help save Guinness’ life! There is a vaccine for a bird disease called Newcastle disease. And while Guinness is dog... this vaccine can save him! Dr. Pitt of Mid Valley Veterinary Hospital, and a hero right now... will take the Newcastle vaccine and inject into a healthy dog and then harvest antibodies from that dog. Then using a protocol, they will give the serum to Guinness for a period of four days. All he needs is one vial of Newcastle vaccine. Please help us save Guinness! Who has this vaccine? Anyone knowing of someone that has chickens or birds that get this vaccine... Please share to help us save Guinness!

"Sweet Frida is being badly bullied by our other larger dog and needs a new home ASAP. Frida is a sweet and gentle Staffie mix that gets along with people and other dogs. We adopted her from a high kill shelter a year ago and she has had formal training and is well behaved, house broken, spayed, healthy and current on shots. She is about 6-7 years old, happy, healthy, and a wonderful couch potato, cuddle bug and enjoys keeping the our ground squirrels on their toes. Just look at these little Prince Charmings that Foxy and the Hounds has available for adoption. To go with the Royal theme, they have named them Harry and Louis! Ridiculous!!! We are in awe of this litter and they are ready and waiting to be adopted! They are absolutely breathtaking, stunning, playful, loving and huge 9 week old Pitty/American Bulldog/Lab mixes. These puppies are going to be very big dogs once full grown but what a privilege to be able to raise, train and teach them proper manners from such a young age. This is a fantastic opportunity to have your donations doubled up to $2500! Foxy and the Hounds has done incredible work over the years but this month in particular and they can use everyone's help! Please if you can give and help them save even more lives… It is greatly appreciated! Here is a post they just made:

You all have been absolutely amazing as it honestly felt like I just might not be able to survive this month. I cannot thank everyone enough for the amazing support and love I felt after my post about the sick puppies. This has by far been the most emotional, painful and difficult time in rescue for me as I have never dealt with so much loss at one time. All of this was out of my control and none of their illnesses were from anything contagious, but it's been trying to handle so many congenital issues all at once.

While the loss has been extraordinary with 3 puppies passing in one week, Foxy and the Hounds has also done some pretty amazing things this month and helped so many others. We fixed two different dogs dislocated hips with FHO surgery. We helped a 17 year old dog cross the Rainbow Bridge after we rescued her from South LA shelter in January and undoubtedly gave her the most loved filled three months of her life. We took sibling owner surrenders and met one of the puppies at Access who was having uncontrollable seizures and is now off all medication and perfect. We got treatment for a few dogs with canine flu who are now completely recovered and we had 22 puppies that all received Vet exams, vaccines, dewormings and were microchipped. We also took care of 3 neuters, 2 spays and have three Mama dogs spays scheduled. Plus we have had a record breaking 25 adoptions so far this month with one of those being Ollie... who definitely took a piece of my heart with him to Georgia!

This has also by far been the most expensive month in our rescue history with our emergency visits and hospitalization bills running over $9000, over $3000 for our orthopedic surgeries, and almost $5000 in regular Vet bills alone in just the past 30 days... yikes! We thank everyone who donated, a huge thank you to Eldad and Lisa from Hope For Paws for helping with some of the Access bill and for paying off our Vet bill a few weeks ago. Your generosity is appreciated beyond what I can express and we are eternally grateful. We are a small rescue and rely on donations to save as many dogs as we do. It is impossible for us to do alone and we are still out much more than we have brought in this month. I reached out to one of our very generous donors who prefers to remain anonymous and asked if they could help. I received an email this morning that they will match $2500 in donations from this post that you are reading right now! That would bring in $5000 and would help us so much and while they choose to remain anonymous, we know who they are and cannot thank them enough. I reached my goal for my birthday fundraiser not too long ago but as you can see those donations already went to help so many but it still makes it even harder to ask again.

Meet Anakin, Luke, Leia, Padme' Maz & Rey. The force was with us and we now have 6 of the most beautiful Pit Bull puppies that I have ever seen. They are probably close to 6 weeks old but we will confirm when we take them to our Vet tomorrow for exams, fecals, dewormings, microchips and 1st round of vaccines.

While we all know they are irresistibly adorable right now… They are going to be big strong dogs that need a confident, committed and responsible owner that will teach them boundaries and limitations. They don't want to be in charge, that is your job... to be their Jedi Master! This will ensure that you will have the sweetest, well mannered, loyal and best behaved dog ever! Pit Bulls are one of my all time favorite breeds and to have the luxury and privilege of raising them properly from such a young age, you will undoubtedly have the best dog you have ever owned! URGENT!!! We have just one more day to find Wisteria a hero and a forever home! Many of you have followed Wisteria’s story since our original post when we first rescued her after she was tied to a tree far off trail and left as coyote bait: https://www.facebook.com/foxyandthehounds/posts/1338328449587369
Wisteria has been with our amazing foster/trainer Kelly Caldwell from Bark At The Park, LLC for several months now but she is going out of town and will no longer be able to foster her. We are desperately trying to avoid having to put wisteria in boarding but will have no other option if we cannot find her a home.

Wisteria deserves to set down roots, to be loved, cared for and to have a family to call her own. She has been completely overlooked and truthfully does not make a great first impression. She is scared that anyone new she meets might hurt her, but if you are willing to give her just 15 to 30 minutes so that she can realize you mean her no harm... then you will have the most loyal, loving, lifelong best friend ever. Wisteria should be the only pet in the house and a home with older kids would be best.

To have met Wisteria barking and growling when she was abandoned tied up to a tree, and then seeing her happy and loving in this video today is why I rescue. I had to be reminded of this yesterday as I was very discouraged that no one was giving this sweet girl the chance she deserves. But, Jason Parker said to me, “Don’t give up, she won’t”! That was exactly what I needed to hear and absolutely the truth. I will never give up on Wisteria because she would never give up on me and she would never ever give up on you! I know her perfect forever home is out there and I will keep posting until I find it. Please help and share this post far and wide so that Wisteria’s hero can see her and we can change her life forever!
