The Townsend Rod and Gun Club is the largest land owner in Townsend with over three hundred acres of conservation land. The club manages their property as a working tree farm and hunting preserve, with many trails through out the property which are used for cross country skiing, snow-shoeing, snowmobile, mountain biking, ATV’s, nature walks, dog walking and of course hunting during regulated seaso
ns. In addition to the large property holding, we have a large trout pond, with some amazingly large trout, many small brooks with brook trout, an unmanaged bass pond, and even coon dog racing on summer nights. Furthermore, we have outdoor and indoor archery ranges, with winter leagues, and wooded 3D archery trails. We have a one hundred yard rifle range, a regulation hand gun range, with monthly pin shoot competitions, and a clay target shooting range, with weekly trap shooting, also featuring wobble trap, and five stand sporting clays. In addition, we have a black powder shooting area, with monthly black powder meetings displaying flintlocks, muzzle loaders, traditional archery and thrown weapons.
