And they are home 💕

Thank you SO much to Charlie Hethcoat for helping us get everyone here safely and to Caitlin Oikemus for her help wrangling babies onto trailers 🤪 They all did very well, except for Seraphina who had a baby brain lock and was not having any part of either trailer—our step up or Charlie’s ramp. In the end, we got her on—she’s a BIG foal!! Mama Olivia was a champ.
Matthew and I are both so relieved to have them here—we both said that NOW it feels like home.

The horses are all calm and peaceful—I get the sense that they like it here. Even Jasmine, our blind mare, has settled right in with no apparent stress or worry.

Otto is not home yet—he will be here after September. We need a little more time to build more fences and shelters!

Matthew and I closed on our new property this morning and took “the kids” up to see it for the first time and hang out for a few hours this afternoon!
Stone Mountain Creek Farm will be relocating to Mount Airy, NC!!
(about an hour north of where we are now 😁)
We immediately fell in love with the house and land when we saw it, and can’t believe we found such a perfect place so quickly and so close!!
We will be madly building fences, shelters, etc over the next few weeks and hopefully will be completely moved in by the end of August 🙌❤️

I’ve been waiting on his new registration papers to get here from the KFPS Royal Friesian in the Netherlands…Otto P. Ster Sport is now OTTO P. STER SPORT ELITE as well as an FEI level horse!!

We are so grateful for the amazing talent and training by Caitlin Oikemus / CAO Dressage who has trained Otto from Training Level through Prix St Georges and who achieved the necessary scores for Otto to get his Sport Elite predicate in just 2 show weekends!

We are beyond proud of our amazing stallion and all that he has accomplished and given us over his 12 years. Thank you, Mares Vanderploeg for breeding such a phenomenal horse!! 🖤

Horses can acclimate to hot and humid weather conditions; however, air temperature and relative humidity can affect your horse’s ability to cool themselves.

It is recommended to avoid (or use caution when) riding or exercising a horse when the combined air temperature (in Fahrenheit) and relative humidity (%) surpass 150. For example, if the temperature is predicted to be 92 F with 69% relative humidity, the combination of the two is 161.

When the air temperature + relative humidity is less than 130, horses are very effective at cooling themselves. Between 130 and 150, a horse’s ability to cool themselves is decreased. When the combination is greater than 150, a horse’s ability to cool themselves is greatly reduced, and if the combination is greater than 180, conditions could become fatal if the horse is stressed.

So proud of all that Otto P. Ster Sport and Caitlin Oikemus have accomplished so far!! It is not Friesian friendly weather down here at Pinehurst Harness Track this weekend 🥵 and they still rode a beautiful test today and came in 1st out of a class of 8 with a 66.9 🖤

Two phenomenal ladies, both worth more than their weight in gold. The Queens of Stone Mountain Creek Farm....Pollyanne from Wildwind and Royalander. Both are extraordinary mothers and producers. We are so incredibly grateful to have both of these beautiful mares in our lives ♥️
