Did some work with Xena this morning! All it takes is a few drops of salmon oil on a tennis ball, a little bit of tall grass, and the @xdog vest to turn normal fetch into a mental stimulation game! 🧠🎾 #teamxdog #xdogweightedvest #dalmatian

Running into the holidays like 💨
🤍🖤2 weeks old! 🖤🤍
We are celebrating the puppies 2 week birthday with environmental desensitizing! 🤩 Adequate socialization starting as early as 2 weeks of age increases the chance of having well-adjusted puppies that can handle future exposure to different environments. They also tend to have stronger social relationships!
🐾We still have male puppies available! Message us for details!🐾

After work today, I had some time to work on Soto’s training. We went over to Petco and he was doing great. The main goal of today was just to work with loose leash walking and work towards our goal of graduating down to a martingale collar. Several people asked if they could pet Soto and respected me when I said “not right now I’m working on his training” or even to a few kids I said “I’m sorry not right now but in a few minutes, when I give him his release command, I will come find you so you can pet him!” No harm done. Until right before I was about to leave…. The store started to get a little busier so I placed Soto in a down/settle position and was rewarding him when he ignored people walking past or heard a funny sound- nothing too fancy. A child (maybe 4 years old) approached us and asked if they could pet him. Although I appreciated that the child knew to ask for permission, I said “I’m sorry no, not right now” and the child disregarded my answer and ran up to him and wrapped her arms around him. I then told the accompanying adult to do something because I clearly said no. Yes, he is around kids and is a friendly dog but he is not a fan of strong advances. He was clearly uncomfortable and since my request to the adult went ignored, I asked the child to stop because he did not like being hugged. The adult did nothing except voice her opinion about me telling the child no and how “I shouldn’t have him in a pet store if he’s not friendly” I once again explained I was working on his training and building his confidence and was finally able to escape the all around uncomfortable and disrespectful situation.
1️⃣advocate for your dog! Don’t be scared to just say “no”
2️⃣be a responsible adult and NEVER let your child run up to an unknown dog
3️⃣regardless of the situation or how friendly your dog is, always remember that you have a liability at the end of you
