🚨 NEW FOSTER 🚨
Meet Cookie Monster, a tiny 4 week old singleton with a bad upper respiratory infection. Her eyes don’t look great but she is on several medications to hopefully restore them. I’m not sure at this point if they can be, but it’s only been a couple days so I am hopeful they will improve more as time goes on. The second picture is what they looked like when she first came to me, so there is a definite improvement. She is incredibly feisty and loves her baba and kicking the bleep out of me after her belly is niceee and full. Welcome to the house Cookie Monster! We are glad to have you! (She is also the first one to use my new incubator, isn’t that cool!!!!)

I have an amazing discovery to share with the world. I think I have discovered a new kind of pearl! They are bright orange in color, and fuzzy unlike your regular smooth pearls. They also make the darndest little noises and I will have to do some further research to figure out how it makes those tiny squeaks. Next time you open a clam keep a lookout for what I have now dubbed the “Tangerine Pearl“ for it’s bright orange color. happy pearling!

How to grow a kitten garden:
1. give them kitten milk daily to grow big and strong
2. prune their thorns so they don’t cut you
3. groom the floof so it grows big and bold
4. unlimited nose boops so the color is nice and beautiful

Meet Blueberry Pie! This little grey bear cub is the only other girl in the litter and 5th born. She is also the only solid colored kitty in the litter. She is so brave and yells loudly at anyone who dares disturb her. I’m excited to see this feisty girl grow! (she has even hissed at me a couple times-so scary 😂)

Hello Tiramisu! Welcome! This cutie is the biggest of the bunch and I would say the most uniquely colored. He’s got this gorgeous orange tabby color mixed with white and he is just a stunner!

Enchante Crème Brûlée! This beautiful buff boy is actually the runt of the litter. I have started to supplement him to help him gain some weight and it has been going amazingly and he is already making great gains. He definitely agrees with the age old adage that blondes have more fun and is lively and active. Crème often says “no paparazzi pleases!” when I try to take pictures of him so these and the best I could get of these little cutie. No doubt he will soon be partying it up and living his best kitten life.

Meet S’mores! She is the second born of the litter and the first girl! She is absolutely gorgeous and a bit of an oddball already! She tilts her chin up and yells loudly whenever you pick her up and her ears are way too big and open for her age. She was born at just 97 grams and is now a whopping 135 in just a couple days! She is drinking her mama’s milk to grow big and strong! Unfortunately not all of her siblings are gaining as well as she is so I am going to start supplementing once or twice a day just to get a little extra nutrition in them bc it is a big litter. Welcome S’mores!

Meet Munchkin! Firstborn to Apple Pie and first to steal my ♥️. They are a sweet little boy and he was the second biggest at 99 grams at birth 💕. Apple went into labor very quickly and all of a sudden I look over and I see his tiny feet coming out! (Being breech is a very normal position for kitten birth and not a big concern as it is in humans). He took the longest to come out and poor Apple was really pushing. But then huzzah! A little Munchkin was born! He is mostly white with some grey and brown tabby spots 🥰. His face is so sweet and he has the pinkest little nose. Welcome to the world little one! Soon we will be best friends. 💗

Happy Birthday my little dessert kittens! Today my foster kitty Apple Pie gave birth to 6 beautiful kittens. They are absolutely gorgeous and I am already so so in love. They will never suffer as she has and will always have a warm place to lay and full bellies. Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life babies. It will be undoubtedly sweet 🎂. Wow! This is what just 1 and a half weeks of foster care can do. From terrified and hiding behind an elliptical to out among humans, a dog, and even a fellow foster cat! All she needed was to be shown love and compassion and Ms. Strawberry Shortcake has become truly sweet 🍰. She now begs for attention and plays exactly as a kitten should play. Meet Strawberry Shortcake 🍓 🍰! This calico beauty queen is one of Apple Pie’s last litter (we don’t know what happened to the others) and is a shy but incredibly sweet girl. She enjoys pets and she purrs as soon as she sees you but is working on her fear of people approaching her directly. I don’t think she was well socialized as a small kitten but I will do my best to get her to be more confident and less fearful and she’s slowly getting better day by day! Currently she and Mama Pajama have become tentative foster friends and co-exist peacefully roaming around the whole house. We would have loved to keep her with her mom but unfortunately her mom has become aggressive to other animals the further along in pregnancy she gets. Hopefully they can reunite after her siblings are born!

Meet Apple Pie 🥧!!! She’s one of my newest fosters, but she comes with some baggage… Apple Pie is actually Apple Pies! She is heavily pregnant and due to give birth in the next week or so. We thought it would be sooner and I have been waiting (not so patiently 😂) for these cuties pies! But it’s not all sweetness and love because she also came in with her 5 month old kitten. This means she got pregnant again when her kitten was only 3 months old!!!! And she has to go through rasing kittens all over again as a young girl herself. Let Apple Pie be a lesson. Spay and NEUTER. She doesn’t deserve to have to be mom for the rest of her life, which is why this will be her LAST LITTER!!! Soon starts the rest of your life baby girl! Hang in there!

Today I wanted to start a new series called Thoughtful Thursdays. I receive a lot of uneducated comments and know there are a lot of controversial opinions about rescue that need addressing. But I want to do it in a kind and professional way. Often rescuers are burnt out and tired of hearing the same uneducated things over and over so they get a bit snippy. However, the only way to change minds is for people to have their questions answered calmly and politely. Like this one for example. Rescuers hear this all the time when hearing arguments especially supporting breeders. And here is how you can respond: “A fertile cat can produce an average of three litters in one year. The average number of kittens in a feline litter is four to six. Up to 4,948 kittens can be born from [ONE] unspayed female cat and her offspring in seven years.” (SNAP, 2015) “Currently, the ASPCA approximates 3.4 million cats [are] entering animal shelters nationwide every year. Statistics show that 3.1 million cats are adopted each year; however, the rest of the abandoned population faces either euthanization or a prolonged stay at municipal or rescue shelters.” (Matteucci, 2020) And these are just the cats that enter shelters. There is an estimated 70 MILLION feral cats (and rising) in the United States alone. That is more cats than the amount of people in the state of California! Those unspayed cats are multiplying exponentially and we cannot keep up with the supply now and especially not if we continue to let our house cats breed. Breeding may have a place far far far in the future for cats, but certainly not in our lifetime.

Meet Mama Pajama! She’s my gorgeous tuxedo kitty who I started fostering a couple months ago. She came in with 4 babies all of whom were adopted and now this sweet girl is looking for a home in Trenton, NJ! She’s 2-3 years old and a total love bug who follows me around everywhere. She cries for attention and just wants to be around you. She likes to find cozy spots to lay in and thinks dogs are the bane of her existence which is why she would like to be adopted in a home without them. Hi everyone! I’m starting this new page to document my fostering journey on Facebook and I wanted to tell you a little bit about myself! My name is Kitty (yes i know it’s a bit ironic 😂) and I’m an 18 (soon to be 19!) year old kitten/momma cat foster mom. The picture below is me when I was volunteering at Tabby’s Place a Cat Sanctuary. I typically take on bottle babies and medical cases with the occasional mom and babies or pregnant mom. I have worked with the same rescue for over 2 years now and absolutely love it. I also truly appreciate any and all donations you are able to share to help support me saving the tiniest lives! Fostering can get expensive and I can’t always afford all the important things a I want to get for my fosters and since I want them to have the best of the best I know when to ask for a little bit of help.
