Great job, team!

We had a fantastic AEL show with valuable learning momentsā€”especially navigating traffic in a smaller arenaā€”and some impressive improvements in our equitation. Since this was our first show at Healing Strides, our riders also had the challenge of getting to know a new group of horses, and they handled it beautifully.

It was wonderful to see the teamā€™s camaraderie in action. Weā€™re so lucky to have such an incredible group of students and parents, and Iā€™m truly grateful to everyone who makes this possible!

Thank you to Healing Strides for hosting!

Whew what a week! We wrapped up with an adult ā€œGymkhana" to celebrate Margaux Bellingerā€™s birthday complete with a two point contest, egg and spoon, cone weaving, ride a buck (not literally), and they even jumped while holding a glass ofšŸ· (to be enjoyed after the ride of course). Appropriately the birthday girl was the champion and then we had a fun mother/daughter intro lesson and wrapped up with our first AEL practice for the show next weekend. Next stop, Lexington!

What a fun week itā€™s been! Field rides, and a fresh new course inspired by IEA Zones. A couple more days of lessons and then itā€™s time to dust off my boots and step back into the show ring after nearly three years. Excited to be heading to Trimbleā€™s Ridge this weekend with Adrian and Zenā€”letā€™s do this! A huge thank you to Kayleigh Burke for helping to get us ready!

Meet ā€œMickey Mouserā€, Our Resident Barn Clown!

If thereā€™s one thing you can count on at the barn, itā€™s that Mouser will be popping up in the most unexpected places! Whether heā€™s snoozing in a locker, supervising lessons from the mounting block, hitching a ride on the hay cart, or mysteriously appearing in the feed room (where he definitely wasnā€™t invited), he keeps us laughing every day. This mischievous barn cat takes his job of keeping us entertained very seriouslyā€”when heā€™s not busy keeping the mice in check, of course!

Where will he turn up next? Stay tuned!

When the weather canceled our second AEL show, some of the team made the most of the weekend with a trip to the Lexington Horse Center to watch IEA Zones! It was an incredible experience seeing top riders compete and spending quality time with our barn family. What a fun and inspiring weekend!

Another AEL show in the books! Iā€™m incredibly proud of our riders ā€“ half of them won their respective divisions, and we had multiple scores in the 80s and 90s! The progress, teamwork, and support weā€™re building as a team is truly inspiring. We are looking forward to finishing out the season strong with our last show at the end of the month!

We are always asked if we offer lessons for younger kids, and we are excited to introduce our Tiny Stirrups Program!

Designed for ages 3-6, this program provides a fun and safe introduction to horsemanship and riding skills using the HorseSense curriculum. Through hands-on activities and gentle riding sessions, young equestrians will develop confidence, balance, and a love for horses in a supportive environment.

This is the perfect way for little riders to begin their equestrian journey! Spaces are limitedā€”contact us today to learn more!

Britney and Arty had a great lesson today. This mare is SMART and she is eager to hunt the jumps on course so we kept her on her toes by incorporating various exercises (figure 8, trot poles, halt and back, etc.) in between the jumps. At the end she did a beautiful trot jump, landed in a quiet canter and executed a perfect left to right lead change which of course I didnā€™t get on videošŸ™ˆ but I did get this pic. Bringing a new definition to ā€œlick and chewā€!

We had a fantastic weekend at our AEL show! The show itself was yesterday but our prep started mid morning Saturday as the team helped pack for and haul 4 of our horses over to Harmony to school and remain onsite Saturday night. This was a great opportunity for our team members to learn the horsemanship that goes into preparing for an away show from preparing feed, packing tack, blankets, and other essentials, and caring for the horses offsite.

On show day our horses stepped up to the challenge of having unfamiliar riders in an unfamiliar setting and assisted several of those riders in winning their classesā¤ļø.

Our riders had a wonderful show, securing Reserve Championship and improving their scores from the last show. We also learned a lot and came away with some great feedback and homework from our judge!

Thank you to Beth Blackwell Sheely for judging, to Stacey Harmony Equestrian Collins for co-hosting, and to all of the riders, parents, and staff for making it such a successful weekend.

Despite the polar vortex, we have a lot going on at EE! Our next AEL show is this Sunday when it will actually be above freezing šŸ™‚.

We also still have slots open for our upcoming horsemanship classes. This is a great ā€œget ready to rideā€ opportunity, a way to increase your horsemanship knowledge while taking lessons, or a wonderful introduction to horses!
