Yesterday was World Pet Memorial Day. We wanted to take a few minutes to honor some of the pets in our lives who we have lost over the years.

WOW Wednesday

Today, we would like to introduce you to Dozer. Dozer was referred to us from a local vet due to the extensive injury he had and need for orthopedic intervention. After months and months of care from his family, his primary veterinarian, and Dr. Wright here at Gasow, Dozer was able to have a full recovery and enjoy the rest of his life with full mobility!

Here is his story from his family's perspective: "Dozer started limping one day when we noticed he had 2 small holes through his paw. His leg started to swell and then the holes began to start oozing out and opening; taking away layers of skin. We went to his primary vet Dr. Baylis who then did x-rays and casted his foot as it was broken in half and hanging by a thread with no tendons and no muscles anymore. He referred us to the best doctor he could think of for this situation, Dr.Wright. After taking Dozer into Gasow, upon lots of x-rays, bloodwork, and unknowns, surgery was the option we decided to try, not knowing if it would work or not with the outcomes we would have to face. Dr. Wright and his team did surgery on Dozer and with a lot of casts, wraps, visits, and more bloodwork, we then had to face keeping Dozer wrapped up with a cast for we thought would be the rest of his life. A year later (about) Dozer was taken out of his cast and now walks and runs freely like nothing ever happened! We are so grateful for the work and team of Gasow for keeping our large pup alive! A true miracle that we couldn’t do without their team!" -The Mcvety Family.

Our staff had the most amazing opportunity to tour the Leader Dogs for the Blind campus today! Special thanks to Dr. Dolehanty, the Lions Club, and Leader Dogs for the Blind for setting this up for us! We were in awe at what a fantastic facility they have and at all of the wonderful work they do! Plus we got to meet their office cat, Taz, who was definitely a stunning little lady.

Gasow Veterinary Hospital is happy to share that we are now partnering with Paisley Paws Charitable Veterinary Foundation to create a Life-Saving, Life-Enhancing Fund for our hospital!

Paisley Paw's is a non-profit veterinary organization that was established to fill the gap and assist with meeting the financial needs of the veterinary profession. Paisley Paws provides grants directly to partnered hospitals, like ours, to assist with treatment or specialty care for families that cannot afford the cost of life-saving veterinary care.

Paisley Paws will also match 20% of all Life-Saving, Life-Enhancing donations made to Gasow Veterinary Hospital, and donations made to Paisley Paws are tax-deductible! 100% of these donations will be applied to Gasow Veterinary Hospital and will be used at the discretion of our Doctors and Staff.

FOUND:
This little boy was found by a good samaritan just south of 15 and Coolidge. He does not have a microchip, he was wearing a collar, but the collar was without tags. If you know who this baby might belong to, please give us a call! He currently is being fostered by the good samaritan who brought him in.

*In order to give information for the foster, we will need proof of ownership.*
