We were founded by a group of local dog lovers whose goal is to rescue dogs from the local shelters (PACC, MCACC, PCACC and The Arizona Humane Society) and find them their perfect homes through successful adoptions. As many of you know, Tucson Cold Wet Noses rescues the seniors, the dogs with medical needs and the ho

PLEASE don't let this happen, your voices still need to be heard.
The thought of celebrating Stephen (Steve) Farley's artwork is a painful kick in the gut, for any animal lover.
Steve Farley was fired for his part in the murder of 318 small animals while leading the HSSA (Humane Society of Southern Arizona). He let these poor, innocent pets go to a snake breeder to be used as food (both live and flash frozen). There were 72 rabbits killed alone, not to mention guinea pigs, rats and hamsters).
Can you imagine the terror these little ones felt? No animal should have felt the panic they did. These were loved pets that ended up at the San Diego Humane Society.
This was lied about from the very beginning and swept under the rug. Has Steve Farley ever apologized for his hand in it? This man does not deserve to be honored by our city. Let's stop this now!

Emails are still needed to try to keep Steve Farley's work off of our streets.
Email [email protected] by Oct. 25, 2024 if you are upset about this and do not want to see this happen.

A quick email like:
Mr. Graham,
With so many talented artists in Tucson, please reconsider the use of Stephen Farley's artwork for the Sixth Avenue underpass proposal.
In our hardworking rescue community, Mr. Farley's name will always be associated and tainted because of his hand in the murder and cover up of 318 small pets last year. As Michael Vick's name is forever tied to dog fighting, Stephen (Steve) Farley's name will be forever tied to lying and sending small pets to be used as live and frozen snake food.
Please give this amazing opportunity to a well deserving local artist, not Steve Farley.
Thank you for your time.

Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, a day to remember the pet companions we've lost. The death of a pet, whether furry, feathered, or an uncommon variety, is felt deeply. We fondly remember them today.

“Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….”

WYATT
A warm hello from Wyatt! This scruffy little 16 pound, nine-year-old terrier mix wants nothing more than to be the center of your universe. His likes include: lying in the sun (and occasionally being sassy with noises outside the wall), food, being brushed, and napping at your feet. He is great in the home if left alone, he'll just nap until you return. His dislikes include other dogs, so he'll need to be an only dog. He is also leash reactive, which doesn't make him the best walking buddy but he'll be perfectly content to spend his time with his human(s). This is a very sweet, charming little boy who would be happy just to hang at your feet and enjoy a nice walk in your secure fenced in yard. Wyatt it is on pain management and takes heart medication and a liver supplement.

WILEY
Wiley is a 12ish year old sweet old soul. He is mostly Heeler and in typical Heeler fashion, he takes a little bit of time to warm up to you. Once he does, he is your best friend and loves scritches behind his ears and under his chin. He does a happy dance when you arrive home and at breakfast and dinner. He is a low key kinda guy, but he loves going on his daily walk. He walks wonderfully on a leash and takes time to stop and smell the flowers along the way. He is very dog friendly and also gets along with cats. He has osteoarthritis and stage 2 kidney disease. He is on medication for the osteoarthritis and has to be on a special diet for his kidney disease, but he still has a lot of life left in him. He is also mostly deaf, but he does hear a bit. He responds really well to hand gestures and he is very smart and knows the routine. He sleeps on a bed in my room at night and takes himself out if he needs to, but he mostly sleeps through the night.

MISSY MOO
Missy Moo is a 9 year old Sharpei mix that's seen some rough days. She's really shy at first, but once she knows you, the spot next to you on the couch becomes her favorite. She's had a bit of a rough time, but is still a real sweetheart with an endearing penchant for talking (or perhaps "mooing") and singing to her people. Moo came to us with tick fever, a few masses, a moth-eaten coat and entropion, which has led to an ulcer on one eye and will require surgery to both eyes' lids. Entropion is a condition that causes the eyelid to roll into the eye and the lashes to rub against the eyeball. The surgery will give her relief from the near constant eye discomfort and pain that she's surely been feeling her whole life.

MISS PINKY
Miss Pinky is one of those adorable Chihuahua short-hair mixes who just melts onto you and into your heart. At only six pounds and with tiny little legs, she can't jump, but she loves to be picked up, cuddled, and will sleep cradled in your arms, on your lap, or next to you in an easy chair. She is absolutely the sweetest dog.
At age 15 she has a number of physical issues (limited eyesight, enlarged heart, heart murmur and trachea issues) but those don't stop her from enjoying life. Miss Pinky loves to lay outside in the sun, sleep in a warmed bed, and most definitely have her ears and the back of her neck rubbed.
This little senior girl has so much love to give, and she gives meaning to the truth that by rescuing dogs, we rescue people.

Tucson Cold Wet Noses is a small rescue group committed to rescuing dogs who are older, many times abandoned, and most with physical issues who then go into hospice with one of our dedicated fosters. Our beloved dogs typically require medication, sometimes surgery, often particular foods for their physical issues, and always lots of love.
The love we have...it's the funds for veterinarian bills, medication, and foods we need help with.
We appreciate everything you do to help us save these precious dogs from dying alone in a shelter. Our passion is to prevent suffering, which is why we assist senior and hospice dogs find their very own forever home.
We appreciate all the support we receive from you. Thank you!

PEAPOD
Peapod is a sleek, 6 lb. black dog with all white whiskers. She is in hospice with our rescue group because she has inoperable intertwined diaphragmatic and belly button hernias. A diaphragmatic hernia is a birth defect where there is a hole in the diaphragm (the large muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen) which means organs in the abdomen can move through the hole in the diaphragm and upwards into the chest. In Peapod's case some of her intestines have moved through the diaphragmatic hernia. But that condition does not slow her down! This little girl wants nothing but love, and shows her commitment in the form of being a constant companion. Peapod is clever, fun-loving and a devoted watchdog, despite her diminutive size.
She looks like she might have some Miniature Pinscher in her because she has the distinguishing Min Pin's high-stepping gait. This makes her look like a little horse from behind. Just adorable!

Being a foster mom to a dog in hospice is not just a privilege, it’s a promise that we will do everything we can to give them a life full of love.
We appreciate everything you do to help these forgotten dogs who want nothing more than to be part of a loving home. Because of your kindness and donations, our group can rescue dogs who are often overlooked because of their age or medical condition. This means they will go into forever foster homes where they are cherished and loved.
Thanks to everyone who donates to Tucson Cold Wet Noses and helps save a life!

VICTOR
Victor is a 4 year old dachshund mix. We do not know much about his time before joining TCWN, but he is working through a lot of fear of people. He has come a long way in learning that there are a lot of fun things in life, and people can be really nice. He loves playing with other dogs, eating (especially treats), chewing toys, and doing zoomies. As a former escape artist, he now also loves monitoring and playing in his backyard and home.

LEVI
Levi is a 10 year old Australian Cattle Dog. He recently had his eyes removed, and while that sounds scary and was a bit expensive (over $1,000), it relieved his pain and his old personality is back. 🙂 He was virtually blind when we got him almost two years ago due to Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). Between the PRA and high intraocular pressures, he was in pain, so recently we took drastic measures to help him out and he's healing well.

One By One

One by One, they pass by my cage,
Too old, too worn, too broken, no way.
Way past his time, he can't run and play.
Then they shake their heads slowly and go on their way.
A little old dog, arthritic and sore,
It seems I am not wanted anymore.
I once had a home, I once had a bed,
A place that was warm, and where I was fed.
Now my muzzle is gray, and my eyes slowly fail.
Who wants a dog so old and frail?
My family decided I didn't belong,
I got in their way, my attitude was wrong.
Whatever excuse they made in their head,
Can't justify how they left me for dead.
Now I sit in this cage, where day after day,
The younger dogs get adopted away.

When I had almost come to the end of my rope,
You saw my face, and I finally had hope.
You saw through the gray, and the legs bent with age,
And felt I still had life beyond this cage.
You took me home, gave me food and a bed,
and shared your own pillow with my poor tired head.
We snuggle and play, and you talk to me low,
You love me so dearly, you want me to know.
I may have lived most of my life with another,
But you outshine them with a love so much stronger.
And I promise to return all the love I can give,
To you, my dear person, as long as I live.
I may be with you for a week, or for years,
We will share many smiles, you will no doubt shed tears.
And when the time comes that God deems I must leave,
I know you will cry and your heart, it will grieve.
And when I arrive at the Bridge, all brand new,
My thoughts and my heart will still be with you.
And I will brag to all who will hear,
Of the person who made my last days so dear.

🥰❤🥰❤🥰❤🥰❤🥰❤🥰❤🥰❤🥰❤🥰❤🥰❤
Marianne's surgery went well today and she has pretty much been sleeping since she's come home (except when I wake her up to try and give her some water). Her eye looked really good when I picked her up, it's a bit redder tonight.
The tumor had gone through her third eyelid, causing a hole. Doc did remove the whole third eyelid and she has dissolvable sutures. Marianne still needs eyedrops and now has antibiotics. I was going to switch to a donut cone, since those are my go to with eye removals, but Doc was worried about her being able to get her paw around it and cause damage. While typing this, Marianne has been trying to get comfortable. She has already been attempting to scratch at her left side, so having the soft cone worried me a bit, especially because I've seen my dogs maneuver them backwards, fanning out on their shoulders. So, I put a plastic one behind it, making it longer and harder to get to that eye.
Again, thank you so much for all of your donations to help Marianne 🥰 we are all so grateful

Last night, when I was feeding the dogs, Marianne was having spats with some of her siblings. I saw her eye was swollen and thought she snapped at Alexander and her took it as she wanted to play and possibly pawed at her, hitting her in the eye.
This morning, it still looked bad. Like a cherry eye so we made a trip to see Dr. M. Every so often, Doc will tell me something that shocks me, and today was no different. After looking at her, she said Marianne has a tumor on her 3rd eyelid. She brought her ophthalmology book into the room and showed me some pictures of others.
I asked her how it could pop up so fast and she said it likely has been growing, and once at that point, it just exploded out. It needs to be removed quickly, because of it's ridiculous progress. Dr. M is going to contact Eye Care and ask about the surgery, she thinks it can be done by just removing Marianne's third eyelid.
For now, she is on eyedrops several times a day. And as the day went on, her eye looked worse.
Marianne came to me in February from Maricopa, she was found as a stray and is completely blind. She weighs 5.7 pounds and her finder saved her from being stalked by not only a cat, but a bird was after her too. She is a feisty one!
Her surgery is set for this Friday 12/8/23 and will cost between $300 - $500. We would truly appreciate any donations toward it, every $5 helps!

Over the next week, we will be sharing videos of our dogs. Some are hospice, some are adoptable, some are in-between.

At any time, Tucson Cold Wet Noses has around 100 dogs in our foster care. As you can imagine, there are a lot of costs that are incurred daily. All of our hospice dogs will stay with their foster family. They receive dentals, alters, labwork, x-rays, medications and more. The adoptables and in-betweens will receive the same care and treatment.
We can only continue to care for our fosters with your help. We know that all rescues are stuffed full and donations are down everywhere. We rely on the generous donations of our supporters to help fund medication, medical needs and food for our hospice dogs. We strive to make their time with us the best.

Meet Squeekers, Bill, Honey, Pepito, Bandit, Lily, Loretta, Winston, Jack, Ozzy, Mojo Jojo and Marley - our heart dogs. They are all on heart medications (some may be on additional medications too).

Please save the date for our Howl-o-Ween fundraiser (Sunday 10/29 from 11-3) and our Online Holiday Auction (11/3 - 11/13). These will help support our fosters.
