Hi everyone. I've been MIA for the last few days and I'm deeply sorry. ~ As most of you know, I had my Dad on Hospice in my home and I got worn down and he had been getting ornery. He has been in a facility for a bit. However, I went to see him and have a care meeting to find him down to 112 pounds, running a fever, vomiting old blood from an esophageal bleed, and he still hadn't been shaved. The facility was taking very good care of him and several of his aides fell in love with him during his stay. However, I'd not been notified at all about his rapidly declining condition and was terribly alarmed by that.
I also know what happens as a person's time here on Earth begins to near its end. 😞 He may surprise us all and I'd be fine with that, but even the doctor thinks his time is approaching faster than not, based upon his body and behaviors.
I decided to bring him home and put him in his own bed. I will be tired (but suck it up) so that when he does pass away, he's with the people closest to him.
I'm finding it hard at my age, to lift. He's a two person transfer but I'm only one.... but I know what he needs, and I want him to feel comfortable, be peaceful, and know I'm right here. My husband has been amazingly supportive and picked him up like you would a small child and lifted him into the truck to transport him home (an ambulance was not available) and he carried him into the house and placed him in his bed. It was a really beautiful thing to watch... I call him Dad because I've known him since I was 13. He is in fact the father of my ex-husband (biological father of my adult children) who succumb to su***de 3 years ago. (RIP)
My husband took care of him without batting an eye lash. He has a genuine and deep love for him, as he did for my ex-husband for many years.
The dynamics are crazy, but it's crazy beautiful too.
He's got us and we've got him.... Until and after his final breath.
I appreciate your support and for being here. I have been blessed with meeting so many wonderful people and more than a few, I call my "FRIEND"!
PLEASE stick around. I'm growing babies, I'm adjusting to caring for him until his time comes to be called home, and I'm working on something else as well. I love you all and pray for your family's health AND yours! Please know that I'm a message away if anyone needs to talk. If you're ill or going through something similar, I'm here for you. I have a background in skilled care and hospice care, and we all need the support. The world is often cruel and to be someone's light is needed now, more than ever!

So, because temps are warming up there's a huge influx in shipping through FedEx via Redline and other live animal shipping companies. I shipped two PRIORITY OVERNIGHTS that were a day delayed AND a two day that's also delayed a day.
Today I experienced my first loss during shipping and I am as equally heartbroken as my customer. It shook me up actually because you question if you did everything correctly.
I will be shipping her a replacement on Monday but a loss is a loss, no matter what.
Pretty sucky for sure.
I make sure my packages are insured but it doesn't replace the spider you chose or felt like you gravitated towards.
Things occur that are beyond our control but sometimes it is truly human error. I called redline and went through every scenario. I want to learn from any mistakes I may make, and even from the things that I've not done incorrectly. . Although it can be a jagged pill to swallow, if I can prevent heartbreak and loss of life in the future, I'm all ears! I don't think we ever stop learning. I also like being completely open and keep the communication between myself and others, open, honest, and easy.

Overall though, with the exception of that part of the day, it's been good.
I have a new pairing that I truly hope produces viable and strong babies. Otiosus lineage.
My other Spoods arrived healthy and safe. Thank God! 😁
One was delayed and that's frustrating to my customer, but I'm pretty confident her little is ok. The slings I have are doing great! They are growing well and I've got several variations. It's just going to be a while before I'll have "ready" beans (with the exception of maybe 4). I'm ok with that though. It gives me time to socialize them as they grow, focus on other stuff up and coming, and I'm pretty thrilled with everything.
I have wonderful people who trust me with their business and I'm building relationships... All of which, brings me great joy.

Praline ~ one of the other keepers I had from my Poptart girl. This one will not be paired. I chose Brynn for that as she's slightly bigger.
These Otiosus are the most curious and sweet little things. No fear at all and so far, love love love being held. I haven't met an Otiosus yet that doesn't like human interaction. 🥀☺️

Anyone with an order from The Fruit Fly Store .... Have any of you gotten yours mysteriously today?! I HAVE and the postman said that he did some investigating after our discussion yesterday. The error was NOT on the fruit fly store's end, but rather the post office. Someone at the San Diego Post office messed up. (Someone believed/assumed to be in training). Anyway, my order was delivered today after I was tracked to a "PARCEL LOCKER" in my city.
I went to the main post office with my tracking info. yesterday, only to be told they didn't have any clue WHAT POSTAL LOCKER my box could have been in and that basically, I was SOL and the burden fell back on the FFS. The post office took zero accountability for their error.
I completely understand human error. We all do it. But let me assure you that it was not the error of The Fruit Fly Store. He did everything that he always does and went to the same post office that he always does.
Spoodfood.com goes above and beyond to provide excellent customer service and is on top of everything. There's a system and that system, works! I hope you all receive your orders as well and I really hope that you aren't upset with them for something gone awry elsewhere. ☺️
Just giving everyone a heads up based on my digging and the post office doing their digging. Everything is automated and they want you to file a claim, etc etc and I stood in my post office yesterday and nicely demanded answers regarding HOW this could have occurred. It's funny how they can get in touch with one another with a quickness but the general public has to talk to a computer and cut through red tape.

I have a gut feeling that you'll all be getting your orders by the end of the week or before.
