Miss Maggie May's Rescue

Miss Maggie May's Rescue We are an all volunteer foster home based rescue group. We provide medical care, spay/neuter and vaccinations to the dogs in our care

Back in 2012, we saw a need for a rescue that was devoted to puppies, pregnant dogs, and families; and formed Miss Maggie May's Rescue. The rescue was named after the first foster we took in under a different rescue. Maggie was only 35 pounds (her ideal weight should of been 60 pounds), within 12 hours of being with us, she gave birth to 11 pups with only 5 surviving. We ended up adopting Maggie

and she was with us until 2021 (11 years). Over the course of the years we have shifted to bringing in dogs of all ages and sizes from shelters, and owner surrenders (to keep them out of the shelters). We are an 100% volunteer organization, and all donations go towards taking in these homeless dogs (as room in private foster homes permit), giving them love, any needed medical, training, and finding them new homes. All dogs and puppies are micro chipped, spay/neuter, and current on core vaccinations at time of adoption. Adoption fees alone does not cover the costs of food, medical and supplies that these puppies and dogs need so they can shine in their new homes. Donations (we are a 501c3) and Foster Homes are important parts of the equation in order to keep the rescue running and open.

FOSTER NEEDED!!!!! FOSTER TO ADOPT!!!!!! ADOPTER any one of those will work.

Alvin is still looking for a foster home until he is adopted. Or even better someone that will adopt him.

Alvin is a sweet boy, he gets along with other dogs, walks well on leash, uses a doggie door and loves his people. He plays fetch, and has been around children. Ne does not like cats.
Alvin sometimes will act all tough with new people, but after awhile he is fine with them. If needed he is also easy to muzzle.

Alvin was taken to one of our vets to have a look at his eyes. He has Pannus AKA Chronic Superficial Keratitis affecting the cornea. If untreated can lead to blindness. It is a lifelong condition and can be managed. It is common in areas with high altitudes, heavy air pollution or intense UV light exposure, it is thought to be linked to immune system reactions to irritants like UV rays. It is most often seen in German Shepherds and their mixes, but can affect other breeds.
Alvin is now on eye drops and will be for the rest of his life. He will need an adopter that will make sure he gets those as prescribed. He will also need Periodic eye exams as determined by your vet.
Alvin has some cool UV googles on order in order to lower his exposure to UV light (Sun).

Because of his eyes Alvin is now listed as special needs

Such a cute face for a sweet dog!!!

We have found a temporary foster for Alvin until June 29th.

Alvin is a sweet dog, I have spent a little time with him. Alvin walks well on leash. He allowed me to pick him up and carries well despite weighing 29 pounds. He loves to be petted and he loves to dole out those doggie kisses. He rode well in the truck. I dropped him off at his temporary foster home, and he didn't bark at the foster, he saw the other dogs at the fence and was wagging his tail, even with them barking. His temp foster did report back that intros went well and that he is doing fine with the other dogs.

Alvin was adopted out as a puppy and was enjoying life living in a house, with access to his nice beautiful yard. Things changed and he is now in an apartment and he is just not adapting well to apartment life.
This is what his current owner has to say about Alvin!
Alvin is 3 1/2 years old he will be 4 in August
He is a Corgi Shepard mix
Alvin has lived will other dogs
He does not like cats
Alvin is great with children and loves to play
He will play ball and fetch
He knows not to run off, walks on leash he listens to commands very well. He is a loud barker and will act all tough at first then will lick you to death.
He is a great companion for someone that may live alone.
He is a loveable dog!!
He needs a home where he can run free chase birds and lizards, and lay in the sun.
He does shed his beautiful reddish brown hair.

Alvin is neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchip. Weighs 29 pounds.

This is Alvin we need to find either a foster for this boy (we are full and there is no room for him) or a new home for him.

ADOPTED!

A familiar face!

Egg and her adopter weren’t a perfect match, so she’s back with me until she finds her forever home! We had some fun with her first bath, and I took the opportunity to use some pink dye I had laying around 🫣 She was a great sport, and is probably one of the most patient little dogs I’ve ever met 🥰

Egg was momma to four adorable puppies who have all gone on to find their own homes. With the worry of raising puppies gone, she has really come out of her shell and we’ve been able to learn some new things about her!

🍳 Egg is good with both cats and dogs, and may even like to have a calm, confident doggy companion to show her the ropes in her new home.
🍳 She has not had any accidents in our home when let outside on a regular basis. When she does have an accident ( which only ever happens when we miss her asking to go outside ), she finds peepads to use.
🍳 She is very quiet and polite overall. She enjoys her kennel, and will go sleep in it by choice. She is still learning what she is and isn’t allowed to chew, so I put her in her crate when she is not being supervised.
🍳 Egg LOVES to sunbathe. That said, for the first few weeks of being in a new home, Egg should exclusively be taken outside on a leash to use the bathroom. This includes families with yards.
🍳 She follows me around the house like a shadow, but somehow always keeps from being underfoot. She has even recently started laying on my lap! Though she bonds strongly with her person, she is shy with new people and will need time and patience to become comfortable.

The Egg Family all went home yesterday, including momma Egg!

As a foster, I couldn’t have asked for better homes for these guys. There were so many great applications, and it was incredibly difficult to pick between everyone. Thank you so much to everyone who applied!

These guys have had a rough start in life, and I can’t express how much the support for them has meant. The comments, shares, and donations are all deeply appreciated.

Benedict has kept his name, and is enjoying being pampered as the only pup in his new family.

Scramble, now named Truvy, is already showing everyone who’s boss!

Sunny ( new name pending ) is getting acquainted with his new siblings.

And Custard, now named Biscuit, has a new pug brother to play with!

Egg and her puppies have all been adopted!!!!!!
We want to thank all of those that applied, we read all of the applications and there were a lot of those, especially for Benedict.
We can't wait to get updates as the puppies grow and as Egg becomes accustomed to her new home.

An update from the Egg family! Thank you so much for all the applications! I ( their foster ) have been incredibly busy, but we are going through applications as quickly as possible!

Egg’s harness may say caution, but that’s only because it’s the only one we had that fit her! She is as sweet as ever, and growing more comfortable by the day 🥰
