YES!
Tethering a dog to you as you move about the home is very underrated.

Why is it helpful???

1. It is considered mental and physical exercise to challenge a dog to follow your lead for 10-15 mins straight. A tired dog is a happy dog and little can go a very long way!

2. Builds attention span! Showing a dog to follow direction of your movement, builds pack drive and confidence.

What is pack drive? This is a dogs natural instinctual drive to ask for directions. Too much nonstructured freedom can cause many behavior issues.

3. Allows you to block unwanted behaviors such as chewing, chasing other animals/kids, destruction, digging, nuisance barking, roaming, car chasing and more!

4. Potty training! This allows you to see faster cues of a dogs potty signals. Easier training.

5. Prevents a.d.d behavior as well as creates a much calmer dog.

My recommendation:

Tether to you when you’re doing laundry, sweeping, and other household chores.

You get stuff done while training and have a tired dog who’s ready to relax on their bed or in crate until their next activity.

However, I remind myself of the wonderful memories and experiences I share with my animals. It's always my goal to have special activities that I do with each of my pets individually, something catering to their wants and not necessarily mine. I took this video the other week of my cat Mazikeen! She will sit pretty consistently on command and recall 60% of the time 🙈😂 I am determined to teach her more tricks and get her recall more reliable!

Training never stops. There is always something to work on or build upon. I think a lot of people want training to "fix" their dogs, but that isn't exactly how it works. Training gives you and your dog the tools and skills to work with. Training shouldn't be something you dread, it should a way to bond and communicate! My teenage boys practicing their down stays in Bass Pro Shop! Ollie had only been one other time while it was Ray's first time going. I love practicing in as many places as I can because I get to see where our struggle areas are. I'm very proud of the dogs they are turning into ❤️🐾

I miss Diesel every day. He made me work for it and I'll never stop being grateful for that 💙 I think there are some dogs that you connect with on a different level and he was one of them. He was truly an amazing dog that taught me so much. *I don't own the music*

So proud of Dixie 😍 Dixie did a board and train for pulling,jumping,and general over-arousal problems. We also worked on some fear based reactivity. She is such a smart and sweet girl!
