Medical professionals who treat patients who have been bitten or scratched by an animal with rabies are required to submit a report and specimens to the Department of Health.

We wanted to alert the community that there was an animal that tested positive for Rabies in the area. Please be vigilant in keeping your pets and your families safe. If you see anything abnormal, please call the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for Wildlife, the PA Department of Agriculture for farm animals and Animal Control for dogs and cats. Please make sure that your pets are up to date on their Rabies vaccinations.

Pet insurance is a common topic of conversation in our office. Unfortunately, it usually comes up after a pet has a serious injury or illness. Pet insurance can provide tremendous peace of mind. The way it works is that you select a plan that is right for you and your pet. There are many options out there. Some companies have emergency only coverage that is often very cost effective. You can go all the way up to full coverage plans that include everything from wellness coverage to cancer coverage. They are more costly. There is even a plan that pays Care Credit directly. You can look at different total coverage and different deductibles. If you do your research, you can find a plan that fits your needs and your budget. The one piece of advice that we can give is to start coverage when your pet is young, before they develop any health problems.
