We share our home in Turner, Maine with a small herd of Holland Lops, flocks of Olive Egger, Marans, Whiting True Blue, Lemon Cuckoo, Lavender and Black Orpington chickens, Sebastopol and Pilgrim geese.

I’ve been getting a lot of messages asking if I’ll be offering chicks again this season. The short answer is: yes!

While this weekend will have us all thinking spring, it looks like winter is still right on the warm weather’s heels. I will start having hatches in March, so hopefully you won’t have to brood in doors for longer than necessary.

I will not be offering goslings this year but I am happy to connect you with other local farms that are.

Prices will remain the same as they were last season for chicks and poults.
Poults will be $10 each
Chicks:
1-5 for $35 (total)
6 for $40
7 for $45
8 for $50
9 for $55
10 for $60
Etc.

Chicks are all straight run (not sexed) and I do not offer rooster take back.

Eggs are $55 per dozen

Chicks, poults, and eggs will all be posted when available and are first come, first served (first to schedule a reasonable pickup day/time). I hold on to chicks for at least 3 days and poults for a week before sending them off. Hatches should be weekly.

Two sweet male Pilgrim goslings are ready for their new homes. They make a fantastic predator alarm system and have been great around children and other poultry.

Three adorable Pilgrim goslings are ready for their home. Pilgrim geese are a great homestead addition- not overly noisy, but still a great alarm system. They have been fantastic with our children and other animals. You can raise them up to keep around or I’ve heard their meat is delicious.
These little boys are $25 each

Are you looking to hatch out your own gorgeous orpingtons? I am now happy to offer up their eggs, fertility has been stellar.
Shipping out of state is available Monday, Tuesday and Saturday.
Purchasing hatching eggs is always a gamble. While I can’t guarantee your hatch rate, I do guarantee they will come intact.

Quick weekend update

🐥 There are 5 Whiting True Blue and 5 Black Orpington chicks left from this week’s hatch. Please PM to claim 🙂

🪿 We had some adorable goslings hatch earlier this week. They are not available yet, but I will post when they are.

🦃 The turkeys are keeping it up with another great hatch with a fun variety of colors (this week they added a new color, can’t wait to see what next week brings!). These will be posted next week.

As a reminder- all chicks, poults, and goslings are sold on a first come, first served basis from when I post they are available. There is no “cutting the line”, I know adding new critters is exciting- but I need to keep it fair to everyone. Thank you to everyone who has chosen our birds to add to your flock 💕

As hatching season winds down my focus will shift to the breed I’m most passionate about; orpingtons!
These groups are culled hard and I am very picky about who I keep. These are not hatchery stock nor are they your typical backyard orpingtons. I sourced my stock from from some incredible breeders from all over the country. These are BIG, beautiful birds.

For this hatch I have (all straight run):
Whiting True Blue
Marans
Lavender Orpington (quickly claimed- there will be a few more hatches)
Lemon Cuckoo Orpington
Black (split to lavender) Orpington

Pickup is in Turner, preference to those who can pickup before Monday evening. Chicks are 3️⃣5️⃣ (total) for your first 5 then 5️⃣ a chick after that.

🟤Marans (I only hatch the darkest eggs, but this is not a guarantee that the offspring will lay as dark.)

As turkey eggs start to take over the incubator I will be wrapping up hatching certain breeds, starting with olive eggers. So, if you were looking to add any of those deep olive gems to your carton- now is the time to grab those chicks.

🚨 only a few Olive Egger chicks are left🚨

If you’re looking to add that deep olive to your carton and a variety of feather colors to your flock- these olives are for you! Keep in mind that olive eggers do run the risk of laying a darker brown egg. I try my best to watch breeding groups and add the olive hens to the group that will give the best egg color.

Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons are an awesome homestead addition- this dual purpose breed is both beautiful and docile.

Saturday’s hatch is ready to go home Tuesday 🙂 I can meet in Gray midmorning, otherwise pickup is in Turner. This fluffy olive egger and beautiful lavender were instant favorites 💕

🐥 We had a small hatch (just a couple rows of a tray) over the weekend. This is for those of you looking for Whiting True Blue and Olive Egger chicks. They will be ready to go home starting tomorrow. If you’re ready to add blue or olive to your cartons, shoot me a PM.

🐣Fertility has been great in the Marans, Olive Egger, and Whiting True Blue pens- this means you will start seeing hatching eggs offered. Marans will be the rare posts or mixed in to a ”rainbow” dozen. I am trying to hatch to provide first timers and small backyard flocks with those gorgeous, dark, marans eggs via chicks. I’m really excited about spreading these quality chicks into more backyard flocks 💕
I am not happy enough with any of the Orpington groups fertility to sell their eggs. I am monitoring fertility weekly and there may be so fluff trimming this weekend 🤭
🦃 The turkeys are continuing to lay and all eggs are being loaded. I haven’t checked on development yet, but I am hoping to offer poults mid April 🤞

The Pilgrim Geese have started to lay! Goslings should be available late April to early May (if fertility is there).

🐰 We may have a couple Holland Lop bunnies available in mid to late May 💕

This hatch is for those looking for fun egg colors and/or a variety of breeds. All the eggs came from quality breeding pens but I did not separate at hatch time.
I can do my best to “guess” the breed but the olive eggers make it a bit more tricky; so, no guarantees. Later hatches will be separated at hatch.

There’s something for everyone- white with black speckles, blue feathers, feathered legs, clean legs, muffs, smooth faces, lavender, chipmunk… it’s a fun crew!

This trusty lady is all fired up and ready to start the 2023 season. Eggs will be loaded this evening and a batch is going into school tomorrow. Which means chicks should be ready to go home on the 25th 🐣
This hatch will be olive egger heavy, many of which have that gray bloom. There will not be any lavender or black orpingtons in this group.

This egg isn’t a color I aim for, but it sure does brighten up a carton! Wonder who will get to bring this little chick home?!

🐣Just a quick update🐣
Mother Nature sure isn’t playing friendly! I will start loading our incubators this week with the hopes that the weather will be a bit more promising in 3 weeks.
I won’t be selling eggs locally until there have been enough fertility checks AND the day time temps are consistently over 32 degrees. I will not be shipping eggs until the overnight temperatures are over 32 degrees. While hatch rate is never a guarantee as there are so many variables, I do everything I possibly can to ensure you have the most viable eggs. Even with collecting multiple times a day, I will not sell eggs that have been collected during freezing temperatures.
One of my absolute favorite parts of this hobby is that our local school has many teachers who hatch out our eggs in their classrooms! It is such an amazing experience for the students and I am so honored to be able to donate towards this experience. This week, the first batch is scheduled to join a classroom 💖

I have been so happy watching this 2022 Lemon Cuckoo grow out. Orpingtons can take up to 2 years to reach their full potential and this lady is certainly checking all the boxes. Lemon Cuckoo is one of the rare colors in the Orpington world and achieving that full body takes even more work than many of the other varieties. Years of culling have brought us here and I am absolutely in love with the quality of this flock and the direction we’re heading.
