I wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to everyone who has brought blankets to me over the past year. My goal was always to do quality work with a quick turn around time. Unfortunately, I am unable to keep up the quick turn around time as there are just not enough hours in the day. I will be officially shutting this little side gig down.

I'll finish wrapping up any blankets I do have in over the next few weeks but will not be taking anymore in. Please reach out to Julia Mecham Bowen on FB for all of your blanket needs, she does a great job!

Announcement:

Moving forward I will be taking on a very limited number of blankets and will have a 4 week turn around time.

Blanket openings will be "booked" to insure I am able to keep up with the work.

I thoroughly enjoy working on blankets but lack the time it takes to keep my books wide open. The alternative is completely closing the doors so I am hoping to find a balance that allows me to continue servicing blankets.

If you have a simple wash and waterproof PM me as those are easy to turn around quickly and I can handle those much faster. ❤

A little reconfiguration of the workspace (thanks Husband) has made for easier repairs!

It's cold out there, make sure you're checking under blankets often for rubs, debris, etc.

Blankets lay down hair so it's important to make sure the insulative value of the blanket is high enough to off set that without cooking your horse.

Daily checks are a must!

Like brand new Schneider's wool cooler, only used a few times. Everything in working order and freshly washed yesterday. I believe it is a 76-78.

Great for this time of year, especially with the neck piece. I personally own several of these and they take a beating without a sweat. No pun intended. :)

Inspired by a real phone call with my friend today! :)

If you're going to wash your waterproof turnouts yourself remember:

❌ Don't wash them in hot water
❌ Don't put them in the dryer, hang to dry!
❌ Don't use detergent, use a blanket safe wash
❌ Never pressure wash them

Following these guidelines will extend the life and waterproofing properties of your blankets. ❤

All blankets get a careful hand cleaning before going to the machine, the goal being to remove the majority of manure and dirt so blankets get as clean as possible. 👌

I have been diligently working on repairs all summer, on various brands of blankets. I have formulated some feedback I plan to share closer to fall. I'll give one hint though on the brand I think everyone should consider investing in if possible. 💪🐎

Had to take a break from repairing horse blankets to make the small human a new pair of moccs since she has outgrown her last ones.

I raided One Horse Handbags leather and Pendleton wool supply when she wasn't looking. 😉
