Meet Spicy Chi, an adorable kitty ready to find his furever family. See what Spicy Chi's foster parents had to say about him! 👇

"Spicy Chi came to us as a very scared kitten. It was clear he had not had many positive interactions with people but was very interested in other cats. He quickly befriended our cats and started playing and building his confidence exploring his space and trusting people.

He loves playing with stick toys, jumping in and out of boxes especially if there is crinkle paper in them, playing with ball toys and chasing springs and other small cat toys. He snuggles close to other cats and will eat treats (temptations and churo) from our hands, but is still shy about being handled.

He's a great eater and perfect using the litter box. He likes to have a safe space to observe his surroundings from and to retreat if scares. He is adorable and funny and will be an amazing addition to a family who can give him the time he needs to fully trust that people are caring and trustworthy. He would be happiest in a home with another cat or cats who can play and mentor him!"

If there are kids in the home, they do need to be older. There must be a resident cat in home for Spicy Chi.

Give us a call at 330-487-0333 ext 803 to learn more about him, or stop by the facility at 752 West Portage Trail, 44313.

Isn't this kitten the most paws-itively adorable thing you've ever seen? Shout-out to Hannah for sending us this adoption update. 👇

"I just wanted to give a little update on Slappy, now called Norman.

After a rocky start with an eye illness, a little medicine and Norman is a happy healthy boy!

It only took a week for him to become best friends with our other kitty, Petunia. They love chasing each other all over the house. Petunia looks after him just like a momma cat.

He’s a a sweet little guy who really completes our family."

Thank you for opening your heart and home to Norman, Hannah!

Meet BMO, a social 4 year old Pitbull mix that weighs 56 pounds! He is a sweet boy who enjoys meeting new people.

He really enjoys his daily walks and can't wait to snuggle on the couch with his people! BMO is a total lapdog who is eager to jump up and give you kisses and snuggle in your lap.

He is selective with other dogs, so he would need a slow introduction to see if they'd be a good fit, so he may prefer to be the only dog in his forever home. As for children we are asking that he lives with kids that are 10 years old and older.

If BMO sounds like he would be the perfect fit for your family, Give us a call at 330-487-0333 ext 803 to learn more about him, or stop by the facility at 752 West Portage Trail, 44313.

We were delighted to receive this heartwarming update from Emily, who welcomed Molly into her home not long ago. Emily shared:

"We brought Molly home as a temporary foster while the Summit Humane Society moved into the new building a few weeks ago. The employees warned us that as an older cat, Molly will probably hide and be very wary of her new surroundings when we took her home.

However, this was not the case. We took Molly home, opened the carrier, and Molly immediately started chirping and curiously investigating her new home. The rest of the night she spent curled up in my lap, happy as could be.

Our family decided that day that we couldn't give Molly back to the shelter. She was safe, comfortable, and happy, here with us. We foster failed almost immediately.

In the few weeks Molly has been with us, she has been quite the cuddle bug! She can almost always be found in me or my partner's lap loudly purring in content. When she's not cuddled up, she is very playful and energetic for a cat of 10 years old! She LOVES chasing hair ties around the floor and shoelaces quake in her midst.

She is quite the talkative pet. She greets everyone with a chirp or trill. And will tell you all about it if you dare to open a package of ham within her vicinity.

Overall, she has been a wonderful addition to our home. We are so glad she found her forever home with us. We can't imagine life without her!

Thank you for the work you guys do. We are so happy to have our newest family member."

We couldn’t be more thrilled to see Molly thriving in her new home. Thank you, Emily, for opening your heart and home to Molly!

We started the holiday week with an adoption update and we’re ending it with another great one!

Today’s is from Zalinia whose family adopted Calliope in September.

She writes, “my daughters held a lemonade stand this past summer; to raise money for the Humane Society and we came into the facility to donate our funds and receive a tour so they could learn more about how their hard work was helping animals. During our tour we fell in love with tiny Calliope. She was so sweet and charismatic, and although we were nervous and didn't know how well a special needs kitty would fit into our busy lifestyle, we knew she was the missing link in our family.

We fostered her for a week while she recovered from a double enucleation. During our time fostering Calliope, it became clear she fit so perfectly into our family that we knew it was meant to be. We officially adopted her on September 11, 2024!

She is the sweetest and happiest kitty and loves snuggles, treats, and playing. Despite being tiny and totally blind, she loves playing with our other cats and stealing our dogs' toys. Her favorite activity is lap naps in the basement with dad and snuggling with the kids in their beds at night.

Our family is so grateful we found Calliope and that she has fit so perfectly into our family. She greets us every day when we come home, and we couldn't imagine life without her. The first three years of her life have been rough, and we feel she deserves the world now. Our tiny warrior princess has found her forever home.

Love this! Thank you, Zalinia and family, for giving Calliope the loving forever home she deserves.

We’re on a roll with these awesome adoption updates!

Caroline shares this update on Retriever and Weimaraner, now Bogey and Birdie.

She says, “we adopted Golden Retriever and Weimaraner — 3-month-old kittens from a litter of 12 — on June 30th. Although they both live up to their shelter names, we decided to name them Bogey and Birdie, respectively, to avoid any confusion, as they are indeed cats and not dogs.

Bogey (formerly Golden Retriever) is very much like a golden retriever — loving, cuddly and affectionate. He can’t wait to be held after we get home from work. In typical orange cat fashion, he’s always causing mischief and knocking things over with his sister.

Birdie (formerly Weimaraner) is the sweetest, snuggliest girl who loves to give kisses. Although slightly more elusive than her brother, she’s our home protector and has solved our mice problem in the basement.

We’re so glad we adopted both and kept them together. They have the strongest bond and are constantly together. Thank you HSSC for giving us our new best friends! We couldn’t ask for a more loving duo to add to our family."

We’re so happy for Bogey and Birdie and their new family.
