I’m sure you’re all wondering where we’ve been for the last year. The answer to that is everywhere but here on this page. We’ve fostered for other rescues, driven transports, and grown our network of fellow rescuers and supporters more so via in person interactions as opposed to here on Facebook.
When my husband and I first started Satterwhite Pets with a small handful of fosters, the intention was to help as many animals as possible by calling the shots to ensure they got the best care necessary and decisions were made in their own best interest. What I’ve learned has made me realize everyone in rescue has these animal’s best interests at heart, and having others to fill in the gaps where I cannot (an established facility, consistent support within a single community, etc.) will only prove to help more animals in the long run.
That is why I have recently established our family in a small, rural East Texas town. I had begun working at a rescue with a wonderful facility with great dogs and cats, but they were the outcasts in society. This is where I thrive. The ex-dog fighting dogs, ferals, dumped pets, and overcrowding situation animals end up here. Recently I have begun a more established role within this rescue amidst a new start for them. They have recently lost some support due to no fault of those currently working at their rescue, as well as access to their page and PayPal. I am hoping the Satterwhite Pets team can band together as they head down a new road to success in helping East Texas animals. I am hoping to be more specific at a later date, but as of now just know this support is going towards a group that truly needs it.
Currently our priorities are maintaining and updating the health of the animals at their facility, creating a more comfortable environment for those there (a few of their raised beds are broken), and providing a more consistent (brand-wise) and healthy supply of food for the future. I am hoping to supply a link for monetary donations to this rescue soon, but for now, here is the Amazon link. The main need is cat litter and flea/tick meds for the cat house, but everything else is also very needed.
