“Oh. My. Dog! It’s Friday! Let’s PAWty!”

One of the best things about rescuing a senior dog is that they find such pleasure in life’s littlest adventures… such as playing in the snow on a Friday morning! For many of these dogs their senior years are confusing. They do not know why they lost their homes. Some have spent years neglected at best and sometimes abused at worst. Adopt a senior dog, show them some love, play with them in the snow….and make a friend for life!

Taking a chance on dogs other’s wont can be one of the most fulfilling and rewarding experiences of your life. The love returned by a senior or abused dog who finds warmth and safety in your arms is incomparable.

"I know my baby will scare some people. But no, he's not a monster!!! He is a hero.
My child survived brutal abuse, he is part of our family now and we will do everything we can to make him happy. He deserves a second chance and he will get it. Because for some of us, life is worth it. "

After the pizza delivery man, 14 year old Gracie’s favorite visitor is the Amazon delivery man. She has figured out that he brings her soft beds to lay on, squeaky toys to chase after and pretty pink sweaters to show off for the German Shepard across the street!

🎉 We are still looking for a foster-to-adopt or foster home for our beloved Gwinnie! She is in our Second Chance Soul Dog Program, and she is getting all gold stars on her report card! ⭐⭐⭐

This is a 4-week board & train program through No 2 Alike Dog Training for our shelter dogs that have been with us for way too long. Often being in the shelter this long can cause behavioral issues such as dog reactivity. Gwinnie's trainer, says that she is thriving outside of shelter life and is so eager to learn!
She is ready to graduate from board & train and we want her to go immediately into a loving home, and not back to the shelter. Going back to the shelter will derail all the progress she has made in her training. Her foster or foster-to-adopt will need to do three (free) follow up training sessions with her trainer to ensure she continues to progress.
Here is what the trainer has to say about her: Gwinnie can only be in a home with people, no other animals. She is a couch potato and would much rather lay around all day than go for a hike. An older couple or mid age couple with no other animals is a perfect home for her! She does well with kids and people all around. She has done well with obedience training and knows sit, down, come, leave it, stay and is close to walking better on leash. When on walks while on leash, as long as the person is direct with her, she is not reactive when passing other dogs. She can not be off-leash, so no dog parks, no having play dates or anything of the sort. Gwinnie is such a people dog she just really wants a person to snuggle up to and do the Netflix and chill thing. 🐶 ❤️
Are you that person to open your home and heart to help Gwinnie? Please email our foster coordinator at [email protected] to inquire.

Before she was rescued Jules had spent the first 15 years of her life alone and unloved in a yard. This was her first Christmas with a family that loved and cared for her like she deserved.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. If bringing a dog into your home is among your plans for 2023 please consider adopting an elderly dog who may be languishing overlooked in a shelter. It could be the most rewarding experience of your life.

Jules' Place is a Colorado based senior dog rescue founded on the belief that no senior dog should spend its golden years scared and lonely in an animal shelter. It is named in honor of one of the strongest, most resilient dogs God has ever placed on this earth..

In April 2019, at 15 years old, after a life tied to a tree outside with no love, no play, no toys, no warmth, Jules was abandoned by her lifelong family when she was diagnosed with cancer. Jules was rescued and, despite being given 6 months to live by the vet, Jules fought on for nearly 2 years, passing in her new daddy's arms on Memorial Day 2022. During those 2 years Jules forgot the past neglect and became the puppy and dog she never got to be. She played, she napped, she roamed. She felt the warmth of a fire while she curled up on the couch. She relished in many treatos and presents. She got showered with Christmas and birthday presents. Despite all she had been through in her first 15 years she left it behind her and enjoyed her final two the best she could!

We should all Live Like Jules.....
