Using a specific tool will not damage your dog’s relationship with you.
I was reading a post by a FF trainer this morning, and she described how anytime you use an ecollar or a prong collar, you are damaging the bond with your dog. This is 100% absolute nonsense. I have seen firsthand how correct training (regardless of the tools) opens doors for dogs and allows our pups to have amazing lives. How tools like ecollars save lives and create communication lines for disabled or struggling dogs who otherwise wouldn’t have that. How clear expectations help puppies like Jax here thrive and become mature decision makers.
I’ve had some severe cases of dogs come in who growled at me through the kennel for the first several times I went to go get them out. By the end of their three week stay, they were my best friend and SO excited to see me and work with me (and vice versa 😋)
It’s not the tool that determines the outcome of your relationship with your dog. It is the consistency, the dedication, the communication, and the compassion you put into your dog. THAT is what makes or breaks your relationship.
