Last Saturday I had the privilege of judging the third go-round of the 4-H 2 Year Old Futurity at the NM State Fair.
Both of these young trainers did outstanding jobs and I was impressed by their dedication, patience and composure handling their young mounts throughout the competition which included three separate go-rounds during the day.
The trust these young horses had in their riders in an unfamiliar arena and with sometimes scary sounds and activity all around was exceptional.
Kudos to you both! Keep up the good work!

The New Mexico State Fair opens today and runs through September 15th!
Good luck to all the exhibitors whether you're showing horses, livestock, small animals or in the many competitions from home arts to fine art, horticulture, photography and much, much more.
For those attending the fair, visit all the exhibit halls. There is so much to see and experience.
Venture down Main Street to the north, visit the "Meet A Horse Breed" in the southern most Palomino Barns (on the east side of Main Street). The Horse Arena at the north end of Main Street AND the outdoor arena (beyond the Horse Arena) have horse shows and exhibitions throughout the 11 days of the fair.
