On behalf of Graefen Grove Ranch, we would like to extend our sincerest appreciation and warmest wishes for a blessed Thanksgiving to our valued followers, friends, volunteers, and families. As we come together to commemorate this special day with our ponies, goats, donkeys, and pigs, we are deeply thankful for the many individuals who have joined us, stood by us, and provided vital support throughout our journey, ultimately enabling the residents of GGR to continue flourishing and calling it home.

Just a heads up to all animal lovers! With it raining ash, be sure to change all outdoor watering bowls a couple times a day because the ash is toxic & will turn into lye in the water, which is further poisoning to pets.

VOLUNTEER OPENINGS - North County San Diego

Right now we are looking for volunteers with three specific skill sets, so please let us know which one you can offer!

1. Maintenance person
- There are always things to be kept up with around the ranch and once the weather starts to cool, it’s time to get to it. Some examples of projects we currently could use a hand with:
- Fencing repairs
- Stable deep cleans and repairs
- Moving of stalls
-Weather preparation for winter

2. Website Creator/Content Creator
- Photography
- Videography
- Content for website and socials
- Fundraising coordinator
- Grant writers

3. Mucking/GroomVolunteer
- Cleaning stalls/paddocks
- Feeding
- Walking horses
- Grooming/Bathing Horses
- Content creation to help showcase the sanctuary horses

Please note that everything can be done anytime of day that suits your personal schedule. Additionally, there are always projects going on you can choose to pitch in for or not, we appreciate the extra hands but it's not a requirement. And of course, for those that aren’t riders but want to be riders, want to learn about horses, want to work with horse, etc, as we are currently training some of our Sanctuary horses there will opportunities to learn and ride with us. We will never complain about more hands.

I think we have covered everything, but of course feel free to ask any questions you may have.

About

Just 3.6 miles from Hell Hole Cannon Reserve, a girl next door, small town type community boarding facility, specializing but not limited to, retirement care during golden years with and without medical needs. We strive for a personal and peaceful ranch for horses and owners alike. We have many amenities which include: a large sand filled arena, sand filled round pen, barn with turnouts attached, covered stalls, large and small paddock areas, spacious tack room, covered wash rack, a barn fridge where you may keep your lunch, drinks and even yummy carrots for your horses to utilize while at the barn, a restroom, seating areas around the ranch where you may just sit and be together and trail access close to the ranch in addition to ridding distance to Valley Center Star Horse Park. In addition to a trainer on site per request. We blanket and provide your supplements/medication at free of charge. We have a farrier that regulars our ranch, however you may bring your own. Since 2003 we have worked very closely with the same vet, we also welcome other vets. Holistic health? We are open to the too! Here at Graefen Grove Ranch we customize each and every horse's needs individually while caring for them as if they were our own.

Background/ Meet the founder

Since I was a small girl I have always had a deep connection with animals, to help animals that otherwise had no voice of their own to the best of my ability. When i was a child i was raised alongside horses, even taught how to ride by hopping on and being told don’t fall off (I do not recommend this method). Since then I have become accustomed to the many different disciplines within the equine community. So after 30 years in the corporate world, I decided it was time for a change. I adopted the first horse since I was a child 11 years ago. I wanted a quiet place for us to spend time together. Somewhere that was personal and not generic mainstream. I had found my safe haven. I quit my job and spent my days at the barn. So after 9 years, 7 horses and 2 goats later I had the chance to live out an unknown dream. I took over the boarding facility and Graefen Grove Ranch was born. Today we specialize in Senior care, ensuring these magnificent creatures receive the very best treatment in their golden years as possible. Most of our horses here at Graefen Grove are retired senior athletes. Everyday I am humbled by the bond we build with these gentle giants.
