Even with a hurt wheel, food is life for Sir Francis! Full team effort searching high and low, to include searching through a marsh (Frankie decided to step on some glass and got himself 3 stitches). But another dude off the street and now Mr Frankie gets a few weeks to rest (as if that will ever happen!)

As Frankie is getting ready to finish up EOD School and get back on the street, an amazing company called K9Invest is trying to do some fundraising to supply him with a soft body armor protective vest. Unfortunately, many K9 units around the country, do not have the funding to supply every dog with body armor. But through the amazing work of organizations like K9Invest, Frankie will be able to do his job while being as safe as possible.

Where has GSC been you ask? Well Frankie are I have been making our way through K9 Explosive Detection school. Its a 10 week school with training locations all around the Greater Boston Area (that means ALOT of driving for this NH K9 Team!)

It is incredible to watch a dog come into a gym, catch the odor around half court and work until they find the exact location of the source. Pretty small amount of explosive hidden under the basketball hoop.

Pro tip: once the snow comes, switch from a ball to a frisbee. That way you won’t lose any balls if your dog can’t find it in the snow! 🎾 ❄️ Heidi is normally quite skilled at sniffing them out, but full disclosure - we may have lost a ball earlier this week. It will be a fun surprise when we find it in the Spring 🤷‍♂️

The importance of obedience can’t be overstated. Not only does it help your dog understand that you’re in charge, but it is also really practical when you’re out in the real world. There are so many distractions for dogs - SQUIRREL?!🐿 - or in this case, realizing Mama is nearby, and it gives you peace of mind knowing your dog will respond to voice commands. This can allow for more freedom when it comes to letting your dog off leash (where appropriate). Consistent training is the foundation. #livefreeanddog
