No one ever tells you how nice it is when you finally get that spark of passion back, especially with rabbits. They're not items so you can't pack them in a box and put them on a shelf and forget it, and selling them doesn't feel like an option for some because you are never guaranteed to get the same ones back, or simply because their little personality quirks. For the last few months I've been struggling with keeping my rabbit passion alive then this weekend It come back. Grooming rabbits didn't feel like a chore, changing their cages felt rewarding, and feeding them felt like I was on top of the world. I really do hope my passion doesn't leave again. Also enjoy the bunny nibbles lol. PS: yea my rabbits are kept in dog crates, yea I use sawdust, and yea my rabbitry Isn't the prettiest, but It's cleanish (they like to kick bedding and hay everywhere) and works for me and my little buttholes

Alrighty time to touch base with everyone!
As you probably noticed, I have not been posting any rabbits looking to hop recently! No I did not get out of breeding, but I've been putting breeding on the back burner right now. Currently I am on vacation until July 6th of this year, then I have my county fair (which most of my show rabbits are going to), and permitting how I do for my county fair's queen contest, I get to go represent my county at the Iowa State Fair!

With this all being said I should have Mini Rex, Lionhead, English Angora, and possibly Mini Lop kits looking to hop in the fall! Not only that, but there's a chance that some Teddy Guinea Pigs will be looking to popcorn (you see what I did there) to other homes.

Thank you all so much for understanding! I hope everyone has a good summer with many county fairs and with many awards won by LuLu's Rabbitry descendants!

And finally, let me bless you eyes with me holding a raccoon!

Lots of buns looking to hop from Grinnell, Iowa! PM for more information! Also don't mind how rough some of the Angoras look. It was two in the morning and I was exhausted.

Some are not tattooed. A D_ number means doe and a B_ number means buck. 😊

The order goes Lionheads, Mini Rex, Mini Lops, English Angoras, and then another Mini Rex doe.

Best offer works as well. Worst I can say is no.

Mr. Beetlejuice and LuLu's Rabbitry would like to say Merry Christmas to everyone and Happy New Year as well! 🥳 For those who don't know Beetlejuice is the herd buck for my Vienna herd so any Viennas or Vienna Carriers you have from me have him on their pedigree. I guess you could say they have good genes because look how handsome this boy is 🤩! He does have one wish for Christmas and that is for it to be above freezing outside! Stay warm and safe this Holiday Season!

Hi all! I am officially back! It has been quite a while since my last post and I do apologize. I have recently been severely overwhelmed by recent events in my personal life, as well to adjusting back to a school schedule. I have also been focusing on my grades as well as sports as well. So I do apologize for anyone who never received photos of rabbits, or those who I never replied to. We're all humans. We all make mistakes. For me this has been happening a lot as I am only 15 and have been overwhelming myself with the amount of rabbits I have.

Anyways, with all that being said I will be posing A LOT of rabbits looking to hop to other barns. ALL ARE PEDIGREE! Even if the rabbit is just a pet I still want credit if someone chooses to breed in the future. I will be posting Senior Mini Rex, Senior and Junior Lionheads, and Junior English Angoras. Mini Rex will be show and brood. Lionheads will be show, brood, and or pets as there are quite a few VM and BEW kits. And English Angoras will be primarily broken making them only brood or pet due to being non showable colors.

~Sales Policy/Information~
If purchasing I will require a NON REFUNDABLE deposit of 25% on all rabbits no matter how cheap or expensive they are. This is to ensure the rabbit can be held for you and to also make it so if you cannot buy the rabbit last minute I still have some money as most the time I will have to turn down other potential buyers.

If we have to deliver there will be a fee set that will need to be sent via PayPal or Venmo. This is to make sure we get reimbursed for gas prices. We will not travel more than TWO HOURS from where we live.

All rabbits will come with a pedigree unless stated otherwise even if the rabbit will be a pet only.

Due to RHDV2 we DO NOT ALLOW anyone entering the Rabbitry at all. I do apologize, but I cannot risk thousands down the drain due to someone bringing it in.

NONE of the rabbits coming from my barn are spayed or neutered. This is my choice DO NOT belittle me over it.

ALL RABBITS that leave this rabbitry are healthy! I WILL NEVER sell a sick rabbit to someone.

I am willing to work with transport as long as it is payed for by the buyer and I can get in contact with the transport being used. I can assist the buyer in finding transport, but it will be up to the buyer in setting it up to get to them and paying the fee for it. BEFORE the rabbit gets on transport it has to be paid for in full.

Lastly, I do offer 10% discounts for 4-H and FFA. This is because I am an active member of both and started showing rabbits in 4-H. It is my way of giving back.

Thanks to all who have helped me in this hobby even when times get tough! You all are appreciated and without any of you this wouldn't be possible!

I also won Senior Showmanship, Best Class 4, and Reserve Grand Champion. Excellent comments from the judge, he called Cadbury Junior magnificent, and gave me lots of compliments on all animals I presented and even said the paring of Cotton Eyed Joe and Ruby was an excellent idea to produce Cadbury Jr. I hope we have him next year so he can see what I bring to the table. He also asked questions about my Vienna Program as well.

Here are some pictures!

Breeder tip of the day!!
Day 2/30- Cheap Must Haves for Keeping Up With a Rabbitry!

As we all know bio security is a HUGE must when housing rabbits. It's one of the MOST important things when being a breeder, someone who shows, or even having them as pets. Some things that I cannot live without in my rabbitry are: a broom and dustpan to clean up shavings off the floor, Clorox disinfectant wipes to clean off surfaces and even handles on brushes and the outsides of water bottles, cheap copper scrubbers to scrub off the bottoms of cages and travel cages, clean shavings that are SAFE for rabbits, and spray bottles for making vinegar and water solutions for cleaning all sorts of cages and to use to groom Mini Rex. Now while these are not things that may seem very important to you these are just things in my opinion that are very important for my rabbitry. If you feel there is something I missed, which I probably missed a couple things, please feel free to add them!

Hi everyone! So if you haven't noticed I have not been on the page in a hot minute. Summer hit and I have been busy working with horses, going through my breeding program and deciding who to sell or keep, and working with litters. What's important is that I am back now and I have decided to do a little challenge for myself to encourage myself to stay more active on here. If you don't know my slogan is "4-H Made, ARBA Placed." This slogan was something I made up at my last county fair while waiting for showmanship to start. A few may not know, but my rabbitry started out as just a 4-H project. I got my herd buck Cadbury from a raffle at a workshop and my herd doe came in a pair that we got for only $28. I definitely pride myself in how far I have come in here rabbit industry as my VERY first ARBA Show was Lionhead Nationals 2021 in Amana Colonies, Iowa. There my homegrown buck from Cadbury got 2nd in the REW class, and my Sable Point buck Frocking Lop Meadow's Frostbite got BOV and BOSB in the AOV class. That day is something I will never forget. Not because the awards, although I take much pride in them, but in what someone behind me had said. There was a lady sitting behind me who was making comments about my rabbits. Most of them being negative, mainly on the size and shape of my rabbits' ears. After a bit I had turned around to look at her only for her to catch me and ask where I got my rabbits from and where I was from as she hadn't seen me before. I remember telling her I'm from Grinnell, Iowa and I raised the rabbits by myself except for my herd doe and 3 I had bought. She asked me how long I had been in the ARBA and I said "I'm not sure, this is my first show." She looked kind of confused like she thought I was joking, but realized I wasn't. After asking me a few more questions and having some small talk she asked me if I had shown before at all and I replied with "Yes I have. I've shown for eight years at my county fair through 4-H." Her she's peaked with some curiosity at the 4-H part and that is when I was told something I would never forget. "You have some nice quality for just a 4-H kid." Now I wasn't offended at what she said, just shocked is all. I didn't know that some people tended to think more negative of 4-H and FFA members, but now I understand why. I have dealt with MANY 4-H and FFA rabbit exhibitors who have placed mixed breeds on a table claiming they are purebred. The usual argument is "I bought them from a breeder, but they aren't pedigree they are purebred though." This is the type of stuff that makes my blood boil. I cannot stand people lying for money. If you ask breeders I talk with on a regular basis and ask them if they have seen my try and shut down people that lie about what breed their rabbits are, I'm sure they will tell you I have. With that being said, I have decided that everyday I will be posting a tip for kids or adults getting into breeding rabbits. Now, these tips may be equipment, to pedigrees, and even to certain apps. The point is these tips are to potentially help people wanting to get into this industry and to help them succeed. None of these are sponsored, and these are just my opinions and if you don't agree, that's okay! What may be essential to you may not be to me and vice versa. So with that being said, here's tip 1 of the "30 Tip Challenge" as I'm calling it.

Record keeping is essential to being successful in the rabbit industry and as someone who doesn't like to write and prefers to type I went on a hunt for apps. I had seen Everbreed mentioned in a few of my groups and just downloaded it. It costs $4.99 a month sans includes a free trial. I haven't put all my rabbits in it, but I am enjoying it. It was easy to put in my buck, I was able to include pictures and even his pedigree. There also is an option for categories for rabbits to go under and options to mark a rabbit in as died, culled, or sold as well! Currently I just have show and brood as my categories. It has been very easy and also allows me to track litters as well. Even though I've been tinkering for only a bit with it I am really enjoying it! I would highly recommend it!
Screenshots will be attached, and thanks for reading if you stuck around this long!

Just thought I would put some rabbit people on this, next time you go to a Dollar Tree (or Dollar 25 Tree as my dad calls it) go to the home decor section and pick up the adhesive wall paper squares! They make cute backgrounds for rabbit pictures and there are so many options, plus they are easy to peel and don't take ANY paint with them at all! I bought 2 sheets so I could cover more space!

Hi everyone! We have some very exciting news to share! We have had some kits arrive at LuLu's Rabbitry yesterday and today! They will be ready to go around August, as I want them to get some of their manes in so I can see who I want to keep and sell. Two of the litters are most likely NOT show quality as they are either BEW, Vienna Marked, or Magpies. These are non- showable colors for Lionheads.

~Pet/Brood/Vienna & Magpie Program~
Frolicking Lop Meadows' Sirachi (Sable Magpie VM) x LuLu's Wrenners (Black Tort VM w/marbled eyes)

Frolicking Lop Meadows' A***n (BEW) x BeetleJuice (Black VM

~Show/Brood Program~
Frolicking Lop Meadows' Cadavra (Black) x LuLu's Rabbitry Derecho (Black)

Pictures will be posted once they have fur, then as they grow I will decide who all is for sale, staying, and whether they are show, brood, or pet quality. These rabbits do come from good lines, and I paid nice money for these rabbits, so they will be a tad pricey.

Thanks!

Very educational and good knowledge to have!

Yesterday we were contacted as one of the rabbits we adopted out unfortunately suffered an incident where he choked on a pellet. Thankfully he is recovering from the ordeal thanks to his adopters quick action in saving him, but many rabbits who have this happen are not as lucky.

For anyone who has had this happen before, it is an extremely scary situation where you need to act fast in order to save your rabbits life. If it were to happen, it's not something you're going to have time to google, so preparation is the best tool to be sure you know how to help your rabbit in the case where it's choking.

Remember to only take these steps in the case that your rabbit is truly choking. They will likely be panicking, gasping for air/attempting to mouth breathe, pawing at their face, drooling excessively or fluid/food pieces/mucus coming out of the nose. The moment your rabbits airway is cleared it needs to get to a vet IMMEDIATELY.

Dana Krempels, Ph.D. (Houserabbit Adoption, Rescue, and Education, Inc. [H.A.R.E., Inc.] president & National House Rabbit Society Board member) answered a question on choking in rabbits back in September 2007 (on allexperts.com). Here are her (2007) steps for the "rabbit Heimlich maneuver."

From a 2007 Post

- You must take the rabbit and firmly align him between your forearms so that his neck and spine are absolutely immobilized.
- Swing your arms upward (rabbit nose pointing to the sky), and then smoothly (not *too* fast) swing them down, being extremely careful not to allow the bunny to hit the floor!
- Again, it is *vital* to have the neck and back completely immobilized so that the force of the swing doesn't break the delicate back!
- The centripetal force of the swing will push the bunny's internal organs forward, forcing air out of the lungs, and (hopefully) clearing the rabbit's trachea. We have had to do this only a couple of times, and it is very traumatic, sometimes requiring 2-3 swings before the bunny can breathe again.
- Once the bunny can breathe, it's important to schedule a veterinary appointment as soon as possible, since aspiration pneumonia can result from an episode like this.

For everyone who has been asking what rabbits we have available and stuff like that, I will be changing, grooming, and preforming evaluations over EVERY rabbit in the rabbitry. Pictures will be posted in Facebook groups, as well as on here. The posts will contain front profiles of each rabbit. For other information such as more pictures along with pedigree you can message the rabbitry. We do work with transport, and unfortunately we WILL NOT be attending the ARBA National Lionhead Convention this year due to me competing at State for FFA. We can take Venmo, PayPal, and cash.

RULES FOR PURCHASE~

If you we have to travel to you whether it be meeting up somewhere or deliver there is a fee. This fee will have to be paid before we leave our barn to get the rabbit to you. This rule applies as of now due to people setting us up or changing their minds before we get to the destination.

As always, none of our rabbits are guaranteed to win, if you don't like the rabbit for any reason we will gladly take the rabbit back unless you have another home that will take excellent care of the rabbit lined up.

Thank you all for reading now, let's get some buns hopping outta here!
