Couldn't be more proud of these two students of mine...and of course my horses. Linnea and Gabby's love for the animal is so evident and it warms my heart. And the fact that the horses feel so safe with them is too sweet. I have the best job in the world!!

Lady and Derby got their first rides this week! So proud of these 2 yr old Kool Kingdom babies. Raising them hands-on sure makes a difference. Both were completely unbothered and did everything I asked!

4yr old OTTB Cisco is doing so well in my training program, that some of my more advanced students are able to ride him as well during their lessons, and learn how to actually train a horse, not just ride a perfect horse that never challenges you. Gabby did a wonderful job with him yesterday!

⭐️Welcoming new students into my barn!⭐️

🐴EDITED: Only one spot left- Friday's at 2:30-3:30!! Book soon before this fills up!🐴

I specialize in teaching barrel racing. I also love to teach new students how to ride! I have very safe beginner friendly horses that know when to take it up a notch for competition. Students are welcome to ride my horses or bring their own. All lessons are one-on-one. We go to competitions about two times per month and have a great time.

A little more about me: I earned a Bachelors of Science in Animal Science, along with an Equine Production Certificate from Texas Tech University (grad. 2012). I have been teaching students since graduating, and competing in barrel racing, team roping, reined cowhorse, and more, since 2005. I have been training client owned horses since 2017. I have also been breeding horses since 2019, and standing stallions at stud since 2020. My hands on knowledge coupled with my extensive education has served my students well.
My business is a formal LLC with insurance.
Would be happy to chat more about any serious, committed potential students!
Looking forward to hearing from you.

We had fun tonight teaching Sweetpea to lay down! And Gabby got to ride her back up. Three times…next session “should” be easy.
Sometimes our lessons are just plain for fun. The hidden lessons in silly exercises like this- like learning body language, biomechanics of the horse, and when to ask/release. This is how my teaching program works- I put students in situations that allows the horse to teach them these things. The kids don’t even really realize they’re learning because I’m not barking orders at them constantly…we just have fun and along the way they notice how far they’ve come in their skills!

*Wanting quick sale- bring all offers*

MeetMeAtTheBar aka “Champ” is a 2013 Off Track Thoroughbred Gelding. He stands at 15.3hh with spectacular conformation, straight legs, and zero lameness or history of injuries. He is barefoot and has tough feet, even on gravel. Although I personally purchased Champ off the track in 2022, I sold him to a student of mine, who I am now consigning him for.
Champ won $19k on the track, mostly in Grants Pass, OR. He lately has competed in gaming competitions. Even took part in a silly Halloween show, where he was dressed up as a kid-safe unicorn, and his 12 yr old owner/rider was dressed up as an injured kid 😅 (picture attached).
Champ is obviously broke to ride Western and English. He does all the basics such as loads, ties, stands for farrier, stands for baths, etc. He has been ridden in multiple bits including o-ring snaffles, ports, and a no-hit bit. He is light mouthed and responsive in everything you put him in.
Champ is looking for a performance home or even someone who wants a project to keep or re-sell. Although when I sold him to his current owner, he was so broke and quiet that even the 6 year old daughter was loping him around; now due to his speed, power, and more high strung attitude, his 12 year old rider has gotten nervous and unintentionally created some unfortunate habits under saddle. He has bolted with her once, and bucked with her once. Although I have not experienced these instances personally, I know the risk is there. He holds some animosity towards his rider for not being trusted and being held back constantly while being ridden. He is a very sensitive ride- sensitive to leg pressure, bit pressure, and even vocal cues. He is VERY soft, as mentioned before, and will not tolerate being yanked on. I know the gentle horse he was is still in there, and he is not outright dangerous by any stretch, but he definitely needs a calm, confident rider that can put lots of time in and bring this athlete along the right way.
This horse is an absolute rocket, and he knows it. He would be best suited to go into barrel racing or eventing. Cow-work will likely not be his forté as he is scared of them.
Due to him being such a sensitive ride, I will not allow test rides. This is no different than buying a horse straight off the track (they don’t allow test rides there). I am happy to ride him in front of prospective buyers. And I will post many videos of him being ridden over the past year in the comments on this post. Please know I will be sharing this post to groups so you have to come back to this original post to see the video comments.
We are looking to find this horse a new home asap so the student can find a new partner better suited to her.
He was fully vetted July 2022 and passed with flying colors. Nothing has changed since then and although I never “guarantee” soundness, as horses ‘will be’ horses, this is one very sound and healthy horse. He is fully UTD on teeth and vaccines (7/23) and was trimmed 12/18/23.
Asking a VERY reasonable 3️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣💵obo. He is located in Gold Hill, OR. Jockey Club registration papers with signature in hand.

Aybree is learning about rollbacks today. Vegas is doing a great (although lazy) job showing her how it’s done. I love that this Thoroughbred can be a lesson horse one day and a barrel horse the next (or vice versa)…but we are indeed racing tomorrow!

I am SO incredibly proud of this group of my students.
Today we went to the Trail Dust gymkhana.
It was Ryanne’s first competition and she rode better than she does at home! She gained confidence, and motivation for the future!
It was also Gabby P..’s first competition and she had a great time, accomplished every event correctly, and really impressed me with her drive!
Gabby W. rode Porsche for the third time…ever…now let me tell you we all LOVE Porsche, but she’s not easy, and Gabby made it look effortless. Cowgirl for sure!
And we can’t ever forget Linnea…because she simply won’t let us! Linnea dressed up for the Halloween costume contest today. I haven’t laughed so hard in a long long time. Champ was “For sale” ”Great with kids” “your next unicorn” “no buck”…all while Linnea looked like she had been bucked off, stomped, and drug. Gosh it was funny. The best part being she actually played the part of being hurt! And on top of this silly sense of humor, she rides her ex-race horse (who clearly still thinks he’s a race horse) with more poise than most experienced adults could fathom.

You guys…you all bring tears to my eyes and absolutely fill my heart with joy. Love to you all, and words can never express how incredibly proud I am, and how humbled I am that you choose me as your coach and mentor. Keep being incredible in life, and I will keep teaching you as long as you’ll let me!

Hannah Long, an Ambassador for The Western Thoroughbred, and her OTTB mare Gentle Bug, aka “Vegas,” have been doing really well competing in barrel racing. Recently, they have been placing in the 3D Open and 1D Novice. They are shown here at a High Roller Barrel Racing & Pole Bending event in Central Point, Oregon.

Vegas is a six-year-old mare by Chumaree and out of Buggy Boo, by Neff Lake. She never made a start at the track as Hannah purchased her with the intent of training her for barrel racing. She is doing great in that career!

I can’t even begin to describe how proud I am of these three students of mine, and these horses. Madi and Aybree rode Sweetpea and Linnea rode her horse, Champ (who I sold to her) at the Trail Dust Gymkhana last weekend. Madi ended up winning High Point! Both those girls rode like absolute professionals and handled everything so amazingly. Linnea brought Champ for her first ever competition. She kept him slow and gave him confidence to ensure a positive experience. I am so impressed as well, by her professionalism and grace, even in high stress situations.
Thank you to my students and their parents for putting your trust in me as your coach and mentor. I love my job because of you!! These kids are going to go so far with their ambitions and I’m lucky to be a part of it ❤️

I do have one lesson slot open currently, for a student looking to be competitive, like these kids. Message me if interested!

Sometimes I even make the parents of my students ride 😅 Good job, Whitney Augustson!! 😃
