Things are not going as well as I hoped..Last year I had my first garden! I was so excited and got some great things to eat for myself and my family..This year, I was planning on doing my garden again, because my end goal is to be able to produce a good chunk of food for my family from my own yard. Well,...I've hit a snag. This is definitely one of my downfalls...When I run into a problem (big or super small) I freeze!!!.This is where my "fear of failure", "always having someone there to help me", "perfectionism" and "overthinking" always get me into trouble. You see, I want my garden to have cardboard on the top of the garden area and then have compost on top of that.... I have the cardboard but am just waiting on the compost. If I was able to borrow someone's truck, I could just take it to the Dump and they fill up your truck bed with a tractor for only $10! You get an entire bucket load for only $10 and there is no plastic waste from all those bags..Problem is... I can't find anyone to let me borrow their truck lol.So I'm "STUCK". There is another option, which I think is the one I will have to end up doing. You can take your own trash can (or whatever) and fill it up yourself for free. The problem with that is time and it's way more work lol..Now we are getting into excuses lol. I am trying to be more productive, which means that I need to just pull on my big girl pants and get to it!!!
Also, now that I'm typing this out loud, I think I could borrow a trailer and do the same thing as a truck. WOW!!! Thanks friends! lol I think I will try that first. Moral of the story... JUST GET STUFF DONE lol NO MORE EXCUSES!!!

My chicken adopted some BABY CHICS!!!
One of our chickens was brooding on any egg she could find for about 3 weeks. She would only come out to eat in the morning, otherwise she was keeping those chicken eggs nice and warm!
We felt bad for her bc we don't own a rooster lol so we knew that all her hard work was going to not produce any baby chics. SOOOO... we may have gone and bought her a few chics to raise as her own 😬😁.
We had NO IDEA if this was going to actually work or not but we thought we would give it a try....and IT WORKED!!! We now have 3 baby chics that are still thriving and LOVE THEIR MAMA!!!

We got a whole bunch of plants the other day for only
$.12 each!!! I haven't been able to plant them yet lol
but they are on the list. I am waiting for some compost
and then they will be in the ground!
We also bought a Plum Tree and we can't wait to eat
some plums in a few years lol

As mom's, we are usually the household chef.
As a single mom, this duty... and many others, falls on me. I will not sit here and tell you that I cook everything organic and always have a home cooked meal because that would just be a straight up lie. I would LOVE to feed my family with only organic foods that we have grown in our garden, and cook with meat that we have raised ourselves. That is the goal that we are reaching for, but have not fully met.
I was listening to a book from and said something like...If you're not going to work and use the land that you already have, do you really think that you'll keep up and use a few 20 acres?... That of course is not the actual quote, but that's what I got from it. So we are trying to do a lot of our learning on the land that we already own in hopes to one day have more land to make a more sizable difference to our food growth!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
Mama's, we know how hard it can all seem.
Some times, often, it is COMPLETELY OVERWHELMING!
Today is a day that reminds us why we are still doing this thing called life. For those of you that have children, this is a day for you to just relax and let those around you show you how much they really do love and appreciate you.
For those of you that have no children in your lives, this is a time to really show your mothers figures, that you DO appreciate everything that they have done for you.
For those of you that ARE the mother figures and no longer have your own, just know that you are loved and you are being that special someone to someone else. Today is not a day for sadness, today is for remembering how special and important having a mother figure was to you in your life and how to continue spreading that light for generations to come.
For those of you that have lost your chances of becoming a mother.... we are all here for you, and weep with you. I pray that you find the stillness and mercy of today. YOU ARE LOVED.

This is a bounty of last year's garden. I hope to be growing more this year but we shall see lol...i'm not the best veggie gardener! I am still learning a lot of the inner workings, gardening is way different than raising animals lol
