I've been going through an emotional struggle...... mostly because I have been just "going with the flow" since mom has passed. I feel like the decision to turn my business full-time has been a true blessing. Not only does it keep me busy and out of my head, but it's pretty much impossible to surround myself with negativity and then with animals.

My circle of friends that are just there when I don't realize I need them and their silly antics. It all just brings me joy when I should be feeling indifferent around the holidays. Game night, open mic night, hockey, weekend outings, random road trips with my dad. It is something I shouldn't take for granted and neither should you, any time of the year.

And then there's the need to feel purposefully alone. Hiking through vast trails created by man, Kept up by man and nature. While I walk in the peaceful rain and get run over by silly dogs running up and down the mountain, I struggle to get through the trail system. BUT it's a good struggle. It's all very peaceful, especially when you have the mountain to yourself or at least you don't see anybody to bother you. To step outside of your head and to stop and look around and hear the rain. It's all so calming in a world filled with uncertainty and sadness.

My friend Cassandra told me today at breakfast that now more than ever, we need to be there for each other and hold onto the peace we have instilled into ourselves to get through our heartaches and grief. To embrace our feelings. To embrace our friends and family. To know that this political debauchery that is upon us and our future, is not our lesson to learn from but to fight for what we believe in and protect those who can't protect themselves. Love will always win, no matter how the situation presents itself.

Mom is not only mine, but she is my dad's, our friend's, and family's guardian angel. She will guide us through right and wrong. Sadness and happiness. Love and heartbreak. Life and grief. It's all a struggle and we just need to recognize who our "people" are. Where our peace lies. Where our happiness thrives. This next week and month, hold those important to you close(r).
