We had a huge breakthrough today with Canyon and Cody! 🐾

Canyon, who’s struggled with dog aggression, and Cody, who’s often reactive and anxious on the leash, faced one of their biggest challenges yet—a walk through the bustling Haile Plantation Farmers Market in Gainesville, FL. With crowds, kids running up unexpectedly, and other dogs (and owners) getting way too close, there were plenty of moments that would have rattled them in the past.

But today, both dogs handled every challenge with so much courage and progress. Watching Canyon stay calm and Cody bravely push through his fears made this walk truly rewarding. It’s moments like these that remind us: with patience, support, and the right training, even the most reactive dogs can thrive.

Many fearful dogs manifest their fears in different ways. With Lola, our trainer couldn’t start by introducing the clicker because she was freaked out by the clicking sound. This is an example of why there is NO cookie cutter training program or why one size fits all approaches do not work in modifying behavior. Each dog is unique, and has specific needs. So with Lola, Jimmy discarded the clicker and opted for soft marker words. She’s a sensitive girl, so that is how we start building trust before we introduce more challenging things.

Patience will take us a long way in getting Lola to trust that we’re here to help her!
