Hello all,

I wanted to update everyone with what is happening with Scooby’s case and other projects that are in the works. Sorry for the delay, I want to update you all more, but most days it is still so hard to get on here and see the pictures and stories of Scooby. It is getting easier; I do have days where I catch myself thinking about him. It’s the little things, like his scratching at the door to need to go out for a potty break, or walking in Roberts Park and wanting to stop and say hi to every single person that happens to be in the park. Even being at the shop daily is a reminder for both Ryan and me. It’s funny that the things he did that irritated me then, I would give anything to have back! We will never get over it, we will move forward and cherish our memories.

Well, that being said, there was another court date today. I was told that the defendants could possibly enter a plea. We were informed that did not happen. There is an additional court date on October 18th that will either have a plea entered or they will decide to go to trial.

As I have shared before, After this event we were shocked with how little guidelines and regulations there were for groomers in Missouri and all over the country. In my research I had reached out to PETA. They responded with suggestions within the same day and turned me onto Rosemary Marchetto of New Jersey. She tragically lost her beloved shih-tzu Bijou at a well-known pet store groomer in New Jersey. Rosemary has since been fighting to get more regulations for groomers in New Jersey and potentially across the US. I (Nicole) will be working with her to write letters to our Missouri representatives to get some regulations for Missouri and more regulations for service animals as a whole.

Rosemary and I encourage you to go to https://bijouslaw.com/ and sign the petition to get these regulations pushed through. This process is long and arduous, but we are up to the fight.

Another update that I hope will come to fruition is a mobile grooming van/truck. This as well as a dog park/animal sanctuary are still in the works. Again, long processes with a lot of steps, any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated. I love animals and my heart has had such a void, having these projects has helped me immensely.

Ryan and I truly appreciate everyone’s support over the last several months.

Dogs are dying at the groomers at an alarming rate. It's time to support Bijou's Law, an Act calling for the licensing of all pet groomers. Sign our petition today.

**Tragic Incident at Local Groomer Leads to Animal Abuse Charges**

July 23, 2023** - In a heart-wrenching event that shook our close-knit community, a beloved canine companion named Scooby-Doo Wood lost his life at a local groomer on June 13th, 2023. The incident left residents devastated and demanding justice for the innocent animal.

Last week, on July 17th, authorities revealed that they would be pressing charges against two individuals involved in the unfortunate incident. The charges include animal abuse, a serious offense that carries significant penalties.

Details surrounding the incident have been withheld until now, out of respect for the family and friends grieving the loss of Scooby-Doo Wood. According to the preliminary investigation, it appears that the beloved pet suffered injuries while in the care of the groomers, leading to his untimely death.

The community has rallied together, organizing candlelight vigils and memorials to honor Scooby-Doo Wood's memory. Local residents expressed their sadness and anger at the loss of a cherished companion and demanded justice for the innocent animal.

The prosecutor's decision to charge the two ladies involved in the incident has been met with relief and hope for a fair resolution. An arraignment is scheduled for July 31st, 2023, where the accused will face the legal process and answer to the charges brought against them.

Throughout this challenging time, it is essential for the community to come together in support of one another. Neighbors and friends have shown tremendous solidarity, offering comfort to Scooby-Doo Wood's family and condemning any form of animal cruelty.

As we await the upcoming arraignment, let us remember Scooby-Doo Wood as a symbol of love and loyalty. Together, we can work towards a community that cherishes and protects all its members, both human and animal, ensuring that tragedies like this are never repeated.

In times of grief, it is the strength of unity and compassion that defines us as a community. We stand united in seeking justice for Scooby-Doo Wood and in striving for a safer and more caring environment for all creatures who share our lives.

Hello all,
this is Nicole (Scoobys mom). On behalf of my husband Ryan and myself, we would like to say thank you to everyone for your kindness and support during this time. Days are getting easier, but void in our hearts will never go away. We miss Scooby Doo everyday!

We still do not have any updates from the prosecutor regarding Scooby’s case.

This has been very rough for us but also an eye opening experience into the world of grooming.

That being said, I reached out to PETA for suggestions on anything else we could do. They actually responded the same day! 4 of the 5 suggestions they had, we had already done, so that was great to know we took the right steps.

The final suggestion/idea mentioned was to reach out to state legislators and propose a new bill/law requiring groomers to be certified and/or licensed by the state to be a groomer.

I feel like this is the “everything happens for a reason” for me. I will not only be working on a letter to state legislators, I plan to go further up and go to congress to get a law implemented for the entire U.S.! There are little to no laws or regulations for groomers across the U.S (except for NJ who passed a law in 2019 for groomers to be licensed).

I am researching this process, and will possibly need help from my fellow animal lovers in the near future.

We will keep you posted on any news moving forward!

Thank you and good night!

Nicole Wood

Enjoy this video of Scooby’s first day of training! 🥺

28/06/2023

Logging on to Facebook tonight and this came up as a memory.

This was when we lived in the country. Scooby loved talking walks with me (Nicole his mom) and his sister Pippa! In the morning he would walk to my side of the bed, stare at me and grumble until I got up. Then he would paw the bed and grumble/talk to me if I was taking too long. Scooby had so much personality.

I love all these memories we have of Scooby, but still break down every time I think of him. 🥺

📢 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗯𝘆-𝗗𝗼𝗼 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 - 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀! 🚨

Dear Scooby-Doo community,

We have some important updates regarding Scooby's case that we would like to share with you all. Today, we heard directly from the prosecutor's office, who are diligently working to seek justice for our beloved Scooby. They have reached out to us seeking our input on the actions we would like to see taken against the groomer involved in this heartbreaking incident.

👥 Your Voice Matters! 👥

The victim advocate from the prosecutor's office understands the impact this has had on our community, and they want to ensure that our voices are heard. They are seeking our opinions on the course of action we believe is appropriate for Scooby's case. This is an opportunity for us to advocate for justice and make a difference.

💡 Share Your Thoughts! 💡

We invite you all to participate in this process by commenting below with your thoughts on what actions should be taken. Let us know how you believe justice can be served in Scooby's memory. We encourage respectful and constructive dialogue as we work together to seek the best possible outcome.

💰 Restitution Consideration 💰

The victim advocate also mentioned the possibility of seeking restitution in Scooby's case. Restitution would involve the groomer compensating for the loss and damages caused. We would like to know your thoughts on this matter as well. Please share your opinions on whether or not you believe restitution is an appropriate course of action.

🚫 Potential License Revocation 🚫

In addition to the legal proceedings, we have received word from the animal control officer and the City of Mountain Grove. If the groomer is charged in connection with Scooby's case, the city has confirmed that they will take decisive action by revoking the groomer's business license. This underscores the seriousness of the situation and the determination to protect our beloved pets from harm.

Let us continue to stand together in seeking justice for Scooby and ensuring that incidents like this are not repeated. We appreciate your ongoing support and encourage you to stay tuned for further updates on Scooby's case.
