The boys headed out to graze down a new space🥰
Today, we welcome Cherry Bomb.💗She is one of our largest investments to date, and it was not an investment taken lightly. There are doubts that come along with expansion in a small operation. Will this help me achieve my goals? Is this the most responsible use of available funds? It's an investment in the future of the business. It's placing faith that as you hold true to your vision and move towards the actualization of a bigger impact, that you will grow into that space that has been made for you.
It's not unlike our overall vision for our future with horses. If you come to them humbly, making room for a new relationship to flourish, that they will be open and receptive, choosing to meet us with renewed energy and an open mind. You place faith that as you embrace a new approach, that they will continue to choose engagement without obligation. That you will be met with success and room for mutual growth.
The arrival of Cherry Bomb symbolizes a profound commitment to our farm's ascension. As we celebrate a new milestone at Bucking Tradition , we embrace the promise of a flourishing future, where our investments bear fruit and our community prospers.
This space, this process, has showed me so much of who I am. It's given me the space to examine the "why" of what I'm building, gently guiding me in the right direction and showing me the importance of creating a space of peace for both horses and humans.
It's the difference between showing up to a barn and feeling like an outsider as you question the happiness and wholeness of the horses housed within it, and being welcomed into a community of like minded people, quietly exhaling with the horses that surround you, and feeling like you're home.
It's examining the way we're training horses, and establishing WHY it's working. And being humble enough to step back and evaluate when it isn't.
There has been so much molding, shaping, and evolving that's occurred thus far, and the process is just getting started.
I've been evolving my training approach, systemizing the methods that have proven to be well received, and abandoning the ones that do not best serve the animals I've committed to.
We have three spots left available for lessees who are interested in attuned horsemanship on site with our wonderful crew in Tracey's Landing, MD. This lease isn't binding to one particular horse, but allows you to work within our network of kind horses, teaching you to work with different stages of training and personality types.

I spent some time with the horses today. It sounds so small. I spend time with them every day. But today, I took the time to see them. It's hard to remember to pause and enjoy the process in the quagmire of establishing a business, providing the daily care, and practicing patience and empathy in multiple other facets of your life.
It's easy to burn out. To forget where the great love lies within the minutia.
So today, we sat together. I made them a hot weather drink of peppermint tea and watched them enjoy. I didn't worry about social media content, or returning texts and emails. I just worried about the feel of their silky summer coats on my fingers, and the smell of their sweet breath.
There is still so much to do, but my horses reached my soul today, and it felt wonderful.
(Ok but I did take some video of Q enjoying his tea. 🤣)
Intro to Horsemanship:
4 lesson package at $320
Introductory Horsemanship Course:
I am incredibly excited to present this offering. I've been working and reworking a format that is inclusive and welcoming. I wanted to format a course for those who have long admired horses, but haven't quite found the right environment to grow their relationship with them outside of the prototypical lesson barn. For those who seek out connection with animals and don't view our time together as a transactional exchange.
This course is for four one hour in-person lessons for up to two participants at a time. Lessons are offered Monday (11-7), Tuesday (11-7), and Sunday evenings(5-7) on site in Tracey's Landing, MD.
This course will build off of each lesson prior and introduce new concepts as students progress.
Lesson 1: Introduction to horses
Connected leading. You will learn to use your energy to set physical boundaries and become attuned to your environment and your horse. You'll learn how to safely halter the horse, and use your energy and attentiveness to safely lead your horse.
Lesson 2:
Grooming and tacking. You will learn to perform a thorough grooming, using your intuition and energy to connect with the horse and ground before a training session. You will learn to apply tack and intentionally perform a thorough safety check of your equipment before mounting.
Lesson 3:
Mounting. You will learn to set your intentions, clear your emotional energy, and connect to your horse in preparation for mounted work.
Lesson 4:
You will begin to balance yourself physically and emotionally, navigating your center as you move your connection with the horse from unmounted to mounted.
Each lesson will include coaching on cleansing and grounding at the start of each interaction, and will teach separation of horse/human emotions and how to manage each.
Please feel free to message to claim your spot!
Got the meadow secured 💓The horses and the bugs sounded very happy in their new digs! There are plenty of browsing opportunities and mature, low sugar grass for the horses. As they go through and nip off seed heads, they will also help to seed the fields! And wonderful, varied terrain to build fitness!
We braved the wilderness to do some trail scouting today and found some stunning areas, including a gorgeous spot to picnic 😍 #trailridinginmaryland #tacaroestate #thingstodoinmaryland #lusitano #trailhorse #apsl
Took the boys out to their new combo grazing/browsing pasture today! It's been set up since yesterday. Independent study isn't a thing yet, apparently. 🤣 #WhoaWhenDidThatHappen #regenerativeagriculturemaryland #letthembehorses #equineenrichment

Started setup for our new turnout space today 😱I don't think the horses are going to complain about the grass!! #naturalhorsekeeping #holistichorsemanship #wholehorsewellness
The incoming rain brought with it cleansing of the negative energy that the eclipse asks to release. This morning, we sat in honor of what we're being asked to let go of, and welcome what is to come.
I took that quiet time to ask the horses in what way I could best help them today, and everyone was very happy to get some lasering in for this #WellnessWednesday 💗
