Too many tomatoes?? TRY GRILLED PIZZA! My mom taught me this one. Heat grill to 425, place fresh dough coated in olive oil on clean grill. Flip after a few minutes. Top with fresh tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella. Close grill for another few minutes until cheese is melted.

I also added garlic, sun dried tomatoes, pepper, Parmesan, and balsamic glaze drizzle.

Emergency vet visit story time.
Wynn is my special child. She is the most insecure and loving creature. She did not handle be gone on vacation well, even with the best ever neighbors watching the place and giving great care. I can typically catch her ulcers acting up early but without handling her every day I missed the signs. She is a drama queen with pain and had colic bouts the past few nights, so a late night emergency vet visit from the amazing Acorn Equine Veterinary Service was in order.
Now if you’re reading this far, let me tell you about Wynn and colic bouts. This lazy horse pictured, is scared to death and out to kill when she is in pain. I don’t think she understands pain, at. All.
She charges, runs into fences, rolls, thrashes, gallops, bucks, bites chunks out of her sides and won’t let anyone or anything near her. She will come charging at you though because she’s so scared and doesn’t know up from down. Her pain trumps any bit of sanity and I thought she was a goner either by killing herself in her frantic rage or from colic itself… I thought she broke her hip because she was thrashing so hard to get up and couldn’t. thank god she was just so panicked she couldn’t coordinate and I was able to get a halter on her while she was down. I’ve never seen anything like it but thank god we have built such trust, I was able to get her into the barn for vet treatment without dying. She was on high alert (understatement of the year) but used every ounce of her being to get back to the barn without incident. Horses don’t often scare me, but an unpredictable, violently in pain, scared to death animal does. I was shaking like a leaf doing my best to not be shaking like a leaf but these moments are part of it

Lux is growing so quickly! She is 8 weeks old now and just the sweetest thing. Shes huge. Her favorite game is ‘touch’ where she gets a scratches or treats when she touches my finger. She leads very well with mom within eyesight. We are working on leading to the barn and pasture calmly without mom, leaving some moments where she can’t see mom. Her biggest dislike is being hosed off.

Baby Lux got a haircut and is a roany pony for the time being. She has trouble with the heat (and fungus from sweating) so I decided it was best to help her out. Still more to go but she’s a baby so I’ll do a few sessions.

Our back yard baby is growing up and exploring! This little girl (?) bedded down in the woods next to my gardens and has gotten used to me being out there. I do not feed her or do anything to domesticate her, but she is very used to my presence. Heather Schmidt Harbin, I think this might be the same one as yours?.

This is so well said. One of my favorite homesteads I follow due to the wonderful content

When the chores start to pile up and the days feel long, it's important to remind myself of the reasons why I chose this homesteading lifestyle.

For me, it's about creating a place that is peace-filled and restoring to my soul. A place where every creature, big or small, is valued.

It’s about teaching my children the invaluable lessons of how to respect and care for the animals that provide for us. To understand where our food comes from, so they can appreciate the hard work that goes into putting food on our plates each day.

It’s about bringing my family closer to self-sufficiency, allowing us to rely more on our own resources and less on external systems. And by doing so, finding and building a community of like-minded individuals willing to work together to care for each other.

But beyond that, it's about finding joy and fulfillment in God's creation, marveling at the beauty and wonder of the world that surrounds us every day. Every baby animal that’s born, every fresh berry that’s picked, every sunset—they’re all reminders of His goodness and love.

These reasons, these values, they are what keep me going through the hard work and the challenges that come with homesteading.
They remind me that every task, no matter how mundane, is part of a greater purpose.🖤
