It's the end of our restaurant era. We are streamlining & simplifying here on the farm and will be prioritizing our subscription service and retail sales going forward. We must send a HUGE THANK YOU to our amazing restaurants over the last few years! The New York Cafe, Just Dandy Apothecary & Cafe, Alaska Fish House, and Bush Pilots’ Lounge have all been instrumental in our success, and we'll miss our weekly deliveries to your kitchens!

Before & After...It was a summer of cleaning and maintenance! Step one was clearing all the lettuce panels from the farm. Step two was scrub, tighten, replace, polish. Step three was to replant and wait patiently. There is nothing better than pressing the reset button.

Pea shoots are in stock at Fish From Trish! Here's what you need to know about our favorite little green...

Pea shoots are young seedlings that are harvested before they develop into larger plants and provide more concentrated nutrients than their full-grown counterparts. More than just a cute garnish, they're packed with vitamin C, iron, protein, and fiber.

Sprinkle them on any salad, soup, sandwich, or fish entree. Honestly, we eat them by the handful so there are no rules here. They taste like summer!

COMING SOON! There's something new on the horizon! Geoff recently built a self-watering microgreens rack, and we've been slowly trialing different crops. So far we're loving the radish, broccoli, pea, & sunflower micros. These small and mighty greens really pack a punch. Stay tuned for purchasing information to come!

Red + Blue = Purple! A big thank you to Jeff Fitzwater for including us in his Human Landscapes project! We had fun dressing up and playing with the lights for the sake of art and storytelling. Be sure to check out the full exhibit now on display at the Main Street Gallery until January 26th.

A special delivery to Prince of Wales Island this morning. Sometimes lettuce logistics involve a ferry and a plane. Thank you to Fish From Trish and Island Air Express- Alaska for delivering the fresh cargo! Coffman Cove will be feasting on greens this weekend!

It may be a perpetual summer inside our farms, but even indoor container farmers need to take a seasonal break here and there. We'll be harvesting again soon enough. See you in November!

Don't forget your glasses! An important aspect of indoor farming is checking your lights to be sure they're doing their job correctly. Lettuce likes a ratio of red and blue light, and preferably around 18 hours of it. Our plants are fed nutrients and light during our evening/night, so while we're fast asleep the farm is busy working away.

We're having fun learning the wild ways of vertical arugula! This variety has a very fitting name (runaway). It grows so fast that it makes walking the aisle between walls a bit tricky. Our Farmer's Blend has been packed with this peppery addition lately.

It's been "Bring Your Child to Work Day" on repeat here at the farm. Thankfully, this Swiss chard was for personal use, and his bagging solutions won't be put into practice. Something tells me this farm chore is still a few years away for this guy.
