ENT, which I have worked to develop from a young age. I AM THANKFUL FOR THIS GIFT AND TRULY ENJOY creating beautiful art. I AM ALWAYS AMAZED WHEN I see the finished product, that turned out like what I see in my head, THAT IS THE FUN OF IT TO ME! My art career started at age 15 when I was hired to paint designs on flower pots for a local florist, but I have been drawing since I was 18 months old and began drawing faces. I often got into trouble in school for drawing all over my school papers!Animals have long been my favorite subjects, and I have done many pet portraits over the years. I HAVE WORKED AS A MURAL ARTIST for the last 15 yrs. but have RECENTLY begun FOCUSING ON PAINTINGS, and building up a portfolio of what I call "Wild Game Art". I AM IN THE PROCESS OF CREATING A WILD GAME SERIES. DRAMATIC DETAIL AND POWERFUL PRESENTATION OF FLORIDA WILDLIFE AND WILDGAME SCENES ARE MY GOALS WHEN PAINTING. I SPECIALIZE IN CUSTOM WILD GAME ART BUT
ENJOY PAINTING THE MANY ASPECTS OF NATURE AS WELL. The custom work i mentioned is often in the form of paintings that I do using photographs of customer's animals or hunt scenes. Being A FLORIDA NATIVE and having come from a family who has roots here for three generations, I do love this area. I HAVE STUDIED Florida's WILDLIFE FOR MANY YEARS. We live on a small ranch in Sebring. We are privileged to see wildlife almost daily! Turkeys, deer, hogs, gators, and many other species in our "front yard"! My husband and I have four children, ages 3,5,7, and 9, and MY FAMILY AND I ARE
INVOLVED IN HUNTING AND FISHING SO I HAVE great FAMILIARITY WITH THE
SUBJECTS OF MY PAINTINGS. My children are the main reason for my attempt to switch over from murals to paintings and prints. Being gone from home to paint murals so much of the time does not give me the time my children need. I homeschool two of them right now, so I am thankful for every job I can complete at home! My children are my first priority, and I need to be available to them. I would consider my art abilities to be very diverse, as I have painted on walls, ceilings, and floors, -airboats, pontoon boats, and cars, -paper, wood, metal, plastic, and glass. I have done Christmas ornaments with dog portraits, cat portraits, even an iguana, a cockatiel, and several horses. There is so much I can't include it all!I have done a ton of work for the Toby The Clown Foundation in Lake placid Florida, recreating clown's faces on ceiling tiles, and a giant mural outside the building. My proudest achievement as of yet was when my picture was featured in the Reader's Digest in front of another of my murals on the side Of Lake Placid's Journal! My art has it's own page, Head Turner Art studio by Monica Turner. It has almost 500 followers at the moment, and is growing daily! Goals for the future include continuing to develop my talent, learn new techniques, grow my fanbase to be able to work from home, and complete my wildgame series and submit it to Bass pro shops for possible sale there!
