Pep Pep and Remi are the cutest and cuddliest little pair of old dogs, but... their old teeth had Stage 4 Periodontal Disease and desperately needed attention! In total, their dental work cost $1,744.14.
Thanks to generous monthly donors, we had enough in the Pet Wellbeing Fund to pay their bill!
Still, most pets average only $200 for vet care. If you want to help cover the cost of dental work for Pep Pep, Remi and other foster pets who need extra attention, please consider joining the Monthly Donor Pack at givebutter.com/month or make a one-time donation on this post!

Hershey made lots of new friends at Musicians Corner tonight! Thanks for coming out to enjoy some great music, see Celtic Throne performance and meet SO MANY DOGS!
Cocoa and Shakira went home! After they lost their home to eviction, their family had to live in a shelter that didn’t allow pets. While their family worked to get back on their feet, Cocoa and Shakira went to separate foster homes until they could go home. Oh, and did we mention Cocoa gave birth to 5 puppies? The day before they came to Pawster? Now freshly spayed, Cocoa reunited with sister Shakira and her family, ready to go to their new home! Thanks to their foster homes, SOARescue and Pet Community Center for helping this family through one of the hardest times of their lives.
🎉 Last weekend, you raised a grand total of $31,216 to support people and pets in crisis, blowing past our goal to raise $20,000🎉
That is enough to provide foster care for 62 dogs and cats while their families are in crisis this year.
Thank you for celebrating Pawster's 4th birthday with an incredible vote of confidence in our future! Here's to MANY MORE🎂
And a special thanks again to the Foster Furry Fund of Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, the Steve and Ellen Adams Donor Advised Fund, Caterpillar Financial, Dell Technologies, Play Dance Bar, and everyone who donated items to the Silent Auction!
*Note: This total includes all funds raised, including individual donations, matching gifts, Doggie Drag Show event donations and sponsorships, silent auction, and more!
Year 4: Mazie's Story
Year 4: Last month, Mazie went home. There isn't a better way to start our 4th year of supporting people in crisis by providing compassionate, temporary care for their pets!
There are only a few hours left to make your gift during Pawster's 24 Hours of Giving. Please consider giving to help pets and people like Mazie and her owner at givebutter.com/4thbirthday
Like so many people we work with, Mazie's owner lost housing and was left to couch hop with friends. So much of the housing crisis is invisible, with people crashing with friends, living in hotels, or staying in temporary or transitional housing.
And dogs are rarely welcome in these temporary situations.
Luckily, Pawster launched the "50 for 50" incentive program to encourage people to foster larger dogs. Mazie was one of the first dogs fostered through the program, and she even went on local news to share about the program.
Mazie lived it up with her Pawster Fosters until her owner found new housing. After just a month, it was time to go home!
In our 2nd year, volunteer Pawster fosters stepped up to take care of two dogs, Chuck and Winston, while their owner went to inpatient treatment. Intake counselors at treatment centers often talk with people who desperately need treatment for addiction, but they don't know what to do with their pets. They know they need to get healthy, but they don't want to lose their dog or cat - and the pet doesn't want to lose their parent!
Pawster gives people like Chuck and Winston's owner another option: Temporary foster care until they can return healthy to their pets.
Please help us celebrate 4 years of helping people access vital treatment, with a birthday gift at givebutter.com/4thbirthday

Mazie went home! Mazie’s owner needed some time to find new housing. So Mazie stayed with a Pawster Foster until it was time to go home. After just a month, it was time! 2-for-1 special! Oranges and Ms Tennessee are ADOPTABLE, and their adoption fee is now $90 total!
These two love to cuddle, love to explore outside, and love to burrow under blankets and sleep all day. Both are 3-year-old spayed, female, dachshund mixes, pee pad trained and crate-trained. Good with other dogs and kids, unknown about cats, but their behavior indicates they would do well.
To apply to adopt them, please fill out our foster application at pawsternashville.org/foster and write “Adopt Ms Tennessee and Oranges” in the question asking why you want to foster. After a brief phone call, you’ll have the chance to foster them for a 1-week trial foster period. If you decide to adopt them, they’re yours!

Did you see the BIG announcement yesterday? Pawster has launched the “50 for 50” Large Dog Incentive Program! When you foster a large dog (50+ lbs) for at least two weeks, we will send you a $50 gift card to local Middle Tennessee restaurants. We have more dogs looking for Crisis Foster Care right now than ever before. Large dogs are more likely to be surrendered to the shelter and less likely to be adopted. By fostering a large dog until they go home to their families, you will literally save a life. Thanks to Morgane and Chris Stapleton and the Outlaw State of Kind Team, we can say thank you with a gift card! Look for the “50 for 50” logo at pawsternashville.org/available to learn more about eligible dogs.
Foster Flashback: DeeDee!Sweet DeeDee was our longest foster, at over a year. When she was finally able to go home to her family, it was like she’d never left…This is why we do it!
When new cats come to Pawster, there are a few steps before they’re ready to go their foster! Of course, they will also go for a vet visit to get a wellness check, vaccines, a microchip, and anything else they need. But here’s a peek behind the curtain to see what it takes to get a cat ready for their new foster home!
After spending a week in the shelter, Hershey was able to go home with a foster until his owner is out of the hospital! The transformation is incredible. Just look at that tail wag!
You saved Hershey! Thank you to SOAR Rescue and everyone else who shared Hershey’s story to get him into a foster home! And thank you to Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control for taking care of him until we could get him there. What you do really makes a difference. Stay tuned to see Hershey safe and happy in his foster home!
Meet the newest Pawster dog, Maz! This sweet pup’s house burned down and a neighbor took care of her as long as they could. When they finally had to turn her over to Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control, the shelter agreed to hold her as long as possible until we could find a foster for her. The shelter staff gave her SO MUCH love and gentleness, but the environment brought out all of Maz’s fear. She spent much of her time hiding in the corner when anyone came by her kennel, and she snapped at strangers who tried to touch her. Now she’s in a foster home, and the transformation was immediate. It really is incredible how getting a dog out of the shelter can reveal their true personalities! If you want to help shut-down dogs reclaim their playful spirits, please consider fostering for Pawster or Metro Animal Care 🐶
Watch Ava go home! Ava’s home was damaged in the December tornadoes. While repairs are still being done, her owner was find a place to stay temporarily where they can be together until it’s time to go back to their home together! Without Ava’s Pawster Foster, Pet Chauffeurs, and people willing to donate their financial resources and time, she would not have had somewhere warm to stay over the last month. Thank you for keeping families together!
When she sees her owner… 🥲 Zero went home after only a few days! Long enough for her owner to get vital medical treatment and return to safe housing where they could reunite!
